Chapter 59 Chapter 59

Creedon

The sound of my assistant’s scream filled the room. Someone was playing a very dangerous game. A guttural growl escaped my throat as my claws came out and my fangs descended. The bitch was still screaming. My body trembled with rage as I tried to contain it. Ever since Adelaide had rejected me, my wolf was even more of a menace to contain than usual. The frequency of her scream pierced my ears as I fought with myself. The next moment the sound ended and the scent of blood filled the air. Problem solved. Her phone lit up as it hit the ground. I snatched it up and flicked for the security line linking into the radio feed.

“I want to know who is responsible for this, and I want their pelts now!” I seethed into the phone as my assistant’s blood dripped down my hand. “And for fuck’s sake get the damn lights back on! I’m losing money!” I spat, before muting and flipping it to speaker so I could hear what was happening. I chuck it onto my desk, good things wolves could see in the dark. I took a few deep breaths as I listened to the pursuit of a woman that fled the coffee shop across the street. Someone was going to fucking pay for this. Alpha Enterprises, a company that prided itself in the tech world for security couldn’t be seen with it’s top of the line incomparable tech being infiltrated, not to mention that fucking leak on social media. Two attacks in one day? It couldn’t be a coincidence. A thought occurred to me. No, it couldn’t be. She didn’t have the guts or… did she? My fucking bitch of a mate had another thing coming if it was her, she’d fucking pay… but the description didn’t match. Addy wasn’t here. My men knew her, she was average height, long and lean. This woman had been short and curvy. What in the actual fuck was going on?

Thirty minutes later the lights came back on. Tech was already digging into the footage and two men had this little whore lost in the back alleyways. Latrisha rushed into my office, took one look at me and fear crossed her features for only a moment before that top bitch facade took its place.

“I told you something like this was going to happen,” she said, her voice annoyed as she folded her arms across her chest and rolled her eyes.

“She wouldn’t shut the fuck up.” I said simply. Shrugging unapologetically.

“Reject the pathetic mate and end this madness, you’re losing it, Creedon. This is just the beginning,” she said, motioning to the body sprawled across my floor. “You have never been one to let a piece of ass get in the way of business. That female is going to be the end of you, I don’t give a shit who she is to you. Cut your fucking losses and move on.” she spat.

“Careful, Tris,” I warned her. The wolf in me had always been a bit explosive, but now he had become a monster and Latrisha was treading a line that I wouldn’t be able to contain if she crossed.

“Adelaide belongs to me, she needs to be taught a lesson. I will find her and bring her to heel.

“You’re a delusional fucking fool!” she snapped as she glared at me.

“Besides, we have to neutralize whatever happened today,” I reminded her. “Someone is playing games, and we need to find out why.” I tried to change the subject and focus on the immediate threat. Adelaide could run away and play at besting me all she wanted. The longer she fought it, the more creative I would get with her punishment.

“Stop being a moron and get your head out of your ass,” Latrisha hissed before turning to the door. “I’ll call someone to take out the trash,” she called over her shoulder as she reached for the knob. “Like usual, I’ll clean up your fuck ups,” she spat before leaving and slamming the door. That's when I realized the team on the ground had gone quiet, the only sounds coming from the phone were the task force clearing rooms within the building.

“Jacoby? Alister?” I asked through the phone. Silence.

“Harley!”

“Yes boss?”

“Get another fucking team on the ground.” I ordered.

“Yes, sir!”

An hour later they were confirmed dead, the wounds indicative of the claws of a very large predator. Whomever was behind this… they were working with goddess fucking bears! I’d make every bear in this city pay until I found the culprit. The question still was why. My brain started spiraling into clean up mode

I wiped my hand clean with my handkerchief, before buzzing Trish.

“What do you want?” she growled into the phone, annoyed.

“We are going to arrange a press conference tomorrow evening. Make it happen! We are diverting attention to Adelaide's disappearance. I want signatures from every person in this building that this is not to be discussed, have the papers drafted! Nobody leaves without signing,” I ordered.

“Humph, I suppose I also need to open the position for the dead intern? Sounds like an assiatant’s job, its too bad nobody can keep the job, well, your poor country girl could have if she stayed in her fucking place! I am not your assistant, that title is below my pay grade. Get someone else to clean up your mess this time.”

“Seems like you have forgotten who your Alpha is,” I growled.

“No, I’ve just realized what an ignorant idiot you are.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I was put off from her inability to submit to my orders. Trish always gave me what I wanted.

“You treated that girl like a trophy you intended to throw in the trash, and you wonder why she rejected you? I read her proposal. You threw away the one person who could have made this company everything you ever desired it to be without the dirty dealings. I don’t know what you did to her to make her run. I’m telling you now that you will regret the consequences of those actions till the day you fucking die. You failed at your opportunity, so you can go fuck yourself.”

I growled lowly. “Do I need to remind you what is at stake if you don’t do as I ask?” I warned her. She went quiet.

“Thats what I thought, get it done,” I said, slamming the phone down.

The only thing that kept a wolf in compliance was leverage. All it took was one call and the one thing Latrisha loved most would be neutralized. She knew it, I knew it. I wouldn’t have to suffer one of her fits again.
