"He's still alive! Where is he!" Dylan voice rang clearly. "He's is alive in my apartment building. He wanted me to tell you something so that you would believe that I was telling you the truth. He said, my luna." I heard a gasp, "What's your name?" "Celeste." "Where are you?" "OMG! OMG!" I had made the u-turn and stayed behind Officer Ridley squad car. But I notice another police car ahead waiting for us. "What is it?" "I think I'm in trouble. I was headed to Hwy 74 to call you like Colin instructed, but the police got to me before I could get there and made me turn around. I don't think they bought my story of visiting a friend." "Where are you?" he asked again. "I'm in a town name Vulance." "Listen to me carefully, turn around and go back to hwy 74." I could hear movement on the other end and male voices yelling. "I don't think I can." I was still behind Officer Ridley but even if I turned around could I outrun the police cars? I mean I knew my camaro was fast, but fast enough to beat out a police car? "Celeste, if you don't they will kill you. Do you understand." Oh my god, what have I gotten myself mixed up in. "Turn around, Now!!!" his shout activated me and I jerked the wheel to the side and spun off in the other direction away from the police cars. Let's put my baby to the test, I've never pushed her past ninety but somehow today I think she will be pushed to the highest speed allowed. I pressed my foot on the gas pedal flying down the streets not stopping at any of the lights. The police cars were now in pursuit with their flashing lights and sirens blaring. I reached the outskirts of the town racing down Hwy 74 when my body was jarred forward as the police car rammed the back of my car. I floored the gas pedal putting distance between me and the cars. I weaved back and forth across the road to prevent the cars from getting on my side. "You are coming up on a yellow flashing light do you see it." "Yea." "Turn right." I followed his instructions and made a wide turn, my car sliding from the force and speed of the turn. I heard little popping noise coming from behind me but didn't pay attention to it as I focused on the road ahead. The sound of an explosion made me glance over my shoulder when I realized that the popping noise was gunfire and they just shot out the back window of my car. "Celeste what was that?" "They are shooting at me!!!" I cried. "Hang in there, you are almost here." he voice remained calm which I appreciated because I was a jittery mess of nerves. More sounds of gun fire whizzed by and I slumped forward in my seat trying to keep my head down. "Celeste a dirt road is about to come up on your left its right before the curve sign. It's sharp be careful." Dylan instructed. I saw the yellow sign with a picture of a curved right arrow. Great the road was curving right and I had to make a sharp left turn at hundred and twenty miles an hour. I lurched forward as I was rammed again by one of the police cars. They were not giving up. Here it comes. I slammed on brakes and turned my wheel to the left the back end of car sliding in the opposite direction. I tried waiting to the last possible minute before the turn to hopefully get more distance. It worked as I turned off the paved road onto the dirt road the two police cars continuing straight. I could hear their tires screech as they readjust and follow me down the bump dirt road. My car was not made for this type of terrain and I felt every hole and tree root I flew over. "Celeste, can you swim?" that was an odd question. "Yes.' "Take off your seatbelt and when I said jump you jump." What did he just say. I'm jumping out of my car. No way. "What.. No I can't." fear had my blood pumping and got me this far. I wasn't sure if it was enough to keep me going. "If you don't do it, you are going to die!" Dylan voice was no longer calm but commanding. As my car continue to hit every hole, I struggled to keep control of the car as I sped down the dirt road surrounded by trees. I could see a huge lake appear in the distance. I could do this. I could do this. "Celeste, stop the car!" Officer Ridley voice was propelled forward through his loud speaker. "Celeste, don't you stop that car!" Dylan commanded. A pier popped in view right in front of me and I release my seatbelt. I can't believe I was going to do this. I had to weigh my option. Stop the car and go back with Officer Ridley where I may up in the room alongside Colin held captive. Or jump into the lake towards Dylan and uncertainty. A part of me felt like I could trust Dylan and Colin, so my decision made I opened my car door as my car ran down the pier and went airborn. "JUMP!" I dove out of the car and into the icy cold water of the lake. At first I was sucked down towards the bottom, but I kicked vigorously making my way back up through the murky waters. My head broke the surface and I tread water getting my bearings. I saw my car to my right sinking fast and turned around to see Officer Ridley standing at the pier glaring at me. I turned in the opposite direction and began to swim away from him to the other side of the lake. The lake was large and I stop a couple of times to float on my back to rest my limbs. I continue to swim glancing behind me I could no longer see the shore where Officer Ridley was standing. I felt a pair of arms encircle my waist and automatically started to kick my assailant.. "Celeste stop. It's me, Dylan." Dylan had popped up next to me and I relaxed. "Hold onto my neck and I'll get you to the banks." I thankfully did as he instructed and place my body on his back and held on. He was a fast swimmer and what would've taken me another thirty minutes he did it in five. There were several people there waiting for us and I was wrapped in a large blanket. My body was weak and mind was on overload. The next thing I knew I was being picked up and carried over to a car. My soaking wet body trembled from my dip into the icy lake and I could feel the warmth radiating from inside of the car. I was exhausted. The heat infused me and I closed my eyes against my will.
