Chapter 83 “Kind-Hearted” Rowan

Chapter 83 “Kind-Hearted” Rowan

Cecilia Blackwood's POV

After all, most people avoided Dark Mages altogether, fearing bad luck and curses, let alone practicing Dark Magic itself.

"Concealment Magic is different from the Dodge Magic Marina gave you—it's true Dark Magic. If you're afraid, we can find another way."

Hearing Kane's words, I smiled and extended my hand. "Teacher, please hand over the manual."

Kane frowned slightly. "You agreed just like that? So readily?"

"Of course." I nodded matter-of-factly. "If it can successfully suppress my inner energy, why wouldn't I agree?"

"I joined Star Ring Academy of Magic precisely to find this kind of magic. You should've brought it out sooner!"

Of course, I knew this wasn't Kane's fault—he hadn't known my true identity beforehand.

"But this is Dark Magic..."

Before Kane could finish, I interrupted. "So what if it's Dark Magic? Does all Dark Magic carry curses?"

"People outside say being around Dark Mages brings curses, but we've been together all this time and I'm fine, aren't I?"

"So hurry up and give me the Concealment Magic. Learning takes time, and if we wait any longer, it'll be too late!"

"Alright." Kane nodded and handed me the Concealment Magic manual.

Opening it, I was instantly captivated. This Concealment Magic was far more advanced than anything in the library!

The only problem was its difficulty. Without professional guidance, it might take months to even begin, or possibly years without results!

Fortunately, Kane was an exceptionally capable teacher—at least for me.

Under Kane's instruction, I practiced all night long. Several times Kane tried to send me back to the dorm, but I refused each time.

The reason was simple: I wanted to master Concealment Magic as quickly as possible so I could live like a normal person in the sunlight.

And of course, I didn't want to miss tomorrow's Magical Power Studies class either.

After a full night of study, I could finally suppress the witch power within me.

Though only temporarily, for me, this was enough.

"Thank you so much! After class today, I'm treating you to dinner—a big meal!"

I looked at Kane with deep gratitude. Without him, I wouldn't have even gotten started.

He wasn't my curse—he was my blessing!

"You're truly talented. If you practice diligently, you'll definitely become a top-tier mage in the magical world!"

"Top-tier mage?"

"Yes. Whether learning Dodge Magic or Concealment Magic, you've shown extraordinary talent. You should make good use of it."

Hearing Kane's words, I unconsciously swallowed.

Honestly, joining the magic academy, I'd never fantasized about becoming a top-tier mage. At first, I only wanted to suppress my inner power.

Even now, I just wanted to study and live like a normal person while having genuine friendships.

As for becoming a top-tier mage, it didn't seem that important to me—or rather, I didn't dare hope for it.

"Alright, let's not talk about this now. I need to go back to my dorm and get ready. You should go too. See you in class!"

I wanted to change the subject quickly because whether Kane's words were true or false, now wasn't the time to think about them.

For me right now, the most important thing was staying in Mr. Darlok's class. I didn't want to be kicked out again, and I didn't want to drag Kane down with me.

"I don't need to get ready. I'll walk you back to your dorm." Kane was as stubborn as always.

I didn't refuse, because refusing would be pointless.

Back at the dorm, Jenny was already awake. "Why are you coming in from outside? What were you doing last night?"

I was about to explain when Jenny raised her hand, her lips curving into a mischievous smile.

"No need to explain. I get it. I'll keep your secret."

My face darkened. Jenny's mind had wandered again.

"It's not what you think. I was just..."

"Really, no need to explain. Hurry and get ready. I need to head to the medical wing too."

I let out a long sigh. "Great, another misunderstanding."

The academy had paired me with white pants and a white shirt today. Plain and simple, but at least not a fashion disaster.

After getting used to the academy choosing my outfits, I genuinely felt it was a good thing. At least I didn't have to waste time or mental energy on it.

By the time I was ready, Kane was already waiting at my dorm door with breakfast.

I had to admit, he was incredibly fast—probably because no one maliciously cut in front of him at the cafeteria.

"I owe you so much. How about this—starting tomorrow, I'll buy you breakfast and deliver it to your dorm. What do you think?"

Without any hesitation, Kane shook his head. "No need. I'll bring it to you."

Arriving at the classroom entrance, I immediately saw Rowan walking toward me.

Kane instinctively stepped in front of me, his tone icy.

"Are you looking to cause trouble for her? Let me remind you, my patience has limits."

Rowan swallowed nervously, shaking her head repeatedly. "No, no! I already learned my lesson from last time. I won't make that mistake again!"

"I'm only here to warn Cecilia to be careful."

I frowned quickly. First, Rowan wouldn't be so kind-hearted. Second, I didn't think I was in any danger or needed to be careful.

"Why would you warn me? Am I in danger?"

"Of course you are!" Rowan nodded.

"I just heard that Mr. Darlok is in a terrible mood today. If you don't release your power again, it won't just be getting kicked out of class."

"With Mr. Darlok's temper, your class grade will be canceled, and you'll fail the course."

"So you must be careful. Once you fail a course, there's no going back."

"You should leave now." Kane spoke coldly, his expression darker than usual.

"Good luck. I really am trying to help."

After Rowan left, my heart immediately leapt to my throat.

Yes, I hadn't been that nervous before, but now anxiety was spreading through me.

Though I'd studied Concealment Magic all night, it was advanced magic. I wasn't sure I could execute it perfectly in class.

After all, on the hill it was just Kane and me—I could stay calm. But the classroom had so many people, plus Mr. Darlok in a bad mood...

Thinking this, my breathing quickened. I even felt the urge to run away.

The next second, Kane grasped my hand. I could clearly feel the warmth of his palm.

"Don't worry. Believe in yourself. You can do this."

Looking into Kane's determined eyes, I nodded firmly. "Alright!"
