Chapter 80 Flight Magic
Chapter 80 Flight Magic
Kane Ashworth's POV
I could feel it—Cecilia's mood had deteriorated to an irretrievable point.
Though she always put on a brave front in my presence, her melancholic and restless eyes couldn't deceive me.
Truthfully, I wanted to know why Cecilia refused to release her power, but as I'd said, I would never force her. Not ever.
"Actually, you could accept my gift." I made one last attempt.
Cecilia shook her head again. "I appreciate the thought, but I really can't accept it."
"Anyway, it's getting late, and I'm feeling tired. I should head back to the dorm."
"I'll walk you back."
On the way to her dorm, I tried to find more topics to discuss, but Cecilia's responses remained fragmented.
When we reached the entrance, I took a deep breath. "No matter what happens, I'll be by your side."
"If you ever need to talk, need someone to listen, just message me. I'll be there immediately!"
Cecilia gave a faint smile. "Alright, I will."
After seeing her inside, I lingered outside the dorm for a long time, eyes glued to my phone.
Yes, I hoped Cecilia would need me, even for something small, but all I received in the end was a simple "good night."
Back in my room, I tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.
I desperately wanted to make Cecilia happy, but I had no idea how. This sense of helplessness was driving me mad!
Finally, I thought of someone I could confide in—the only person willing to listen to my rambling, though I rarely rambled.
"Marina."
"Calling this late? What's going on?" Marina's voice came through the phone, gentle and warm.
I wasn't sure when I'd started noticing others' warmth and kindness—perhaps it was Cecilia's influence.
"Marina, there's something I need to tell you. I hope you can give me some advice."
"Go ahead."
I told Marina everything that had happened in class, including Cecilia's current state and mood.
"Marina, I really want to make Cecilia happy, but I don't know how. I'm afraid if I ask too many questions, I'll only annoy her."
"Also, I don't understand why Cecilia won't release her power. I believe in her talent and ability—she's definitely not weaker than anyone else!"
I got it all out in one breath.
I had to admit, speaking what I'd been holding inside did make me feel somewhat better.
If Cecilia were willing to talk about it, perhaps she'd feel better too.
Marina spoke softly. "I understand how you feel, but right now, you can't do much, and you absolutely cannot ask about why she won't release her power."
"What Cecilia needs now is companionship. So you should stay by her side and accompany her in doing what she enjoys."
"This issue is like a knot in her heart, and only she can untie it herself. So you need to help her relax."
After hearing Marina's words, I half-understood. "Just companionship?"
"Yes, besides being there for her, you don't need to do anything else. There's nothing else you can do."
"Trust me. If you're unsure how to handle this, I can visit Star Ring Academy tomorrow."
At that, I quickly refused. "No, no, I can handle it myself!"
I knew Cecilia well enough—if she found out Marina had come specifically for her, it would only add to her psychological burden.
"I know what to do now, Marina. If I can't handle it, I'll contact you right away."
"Alright."
After hanging up, I lay in bed as images flashed through my mind like a film reel, numerous ideas taking shape.
That night, I was destined not to sleep...
The next morning, I bought plenty of food and drinks from the cafeteria and came to Cecilia's dorm.
Though Cecilia had reminded me to buy less, she needed proper nutrition right now, and this was the only method I could think of.
After we ate, I suggested we play some games together since there were no classes this morning.
Cecilia declined. "Sorry, I don't feel like playing games. I just want to rest in the dorm."
I wanted to say something, but the words stuck in my throat.
"Alright, then get some good rest. Message me if you need anything."
"Okay."
On the way back to my room, I thought about many things, including what Marina had told me.
Right—I couldn't let Cecilia process all of this alone. I had to stay with her!
Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck me!
I turned around and headed back to Cecilia's dorm, knocking on the door.
When the door opened, exhaustion covered Cecilia's face, but she still forced out a smile. "What's wrong? Did you need something else?"
"I want to take you somewhere interesting."
"Somewhere interesting? Where?"
Without explaining, I reached out and took hold of Cecilia's wrist, leading her away from the dorm.
I wasn't sure when taking Cecilia's hand had become so natural, and she hadn't resisted either.
We arrived at the back hill again. Cecilia shook her head slowly. "Are you bringing me here to practice Dodge Magic? I don't really feel like practicing right now. I just want to rest."
I shook my head quickly. "Of course not. You've already mastered Dodge Magic quite well. I want to do something new with you."
"What?"
"Do you want to fly in the sky?"
Cecilia's expression shifted slightly. "Fly in the sky? What do you mean?"
"Flight magic! I can take you flying through the air, soaring around the entire Star Ring Academy."
"Of course, if you want to leave the academy and go somewhere farther, that's not impossible either."
Though I said that, I knew Cecilia wouldn't go far. She never skipped classes voluntarily—except for yesterday's Magical Power Studies.
Cecilia looked at me with confusion. "You've mastered flight magic?"
"Yes, everyone in the Ashworth family has mastered flight magic. It's the most basic spell."
"But don't worry—I've perfected it. Even carrying you with me, there won't be any accidents. Unless you don't trust me."
"I trust you."
I had Cecilia stand beside me, took her hand, and silently began reciting the incantation.
At first, Cecilia showed no reaction, her expression still melancholic as always.
But when we lifted off the ground and gradually rose into the air, a smile finally appeared on Cecilia's face.
"Wow! This is flight magic? It's truly amazing!"
"When did you learn flight magic? How fast can you fly?"
I smiled slightly. "Several years ago. As for the speed—you'll find out very soon."
