Chapter 90
Killian.
Things were really messed up. I didn’t have any choice but to come to Saskia. She was the only person who could answer all of the questions I had.
That’s why I was here, in front of her door, unannounced.
She greeted me with a nice yet knowing smile. But I didn't return her with the same ardor.
Well, actually, I didn’t feel like being nice right now.
I thought if I got to know Yzabelle’s origin, I could probably put every puzzle piece together.
But no.
Things got more complicated when I found out her origin.
Once there was a witch involved. And now, it’s the vampires.
I could figure everything would be in chaos in no time.
Well, it would only be in chaos if one stepped over the boundaries.
And I would probably be the one who’s going to step on boundaries.
I could not give up Yzabelle just like that!
“What took you so long to come here, your highness?” Saskia greeted me.
She even prepared the tea I used to ask her before.
I slumped on the couch, restless. I badly needed that tea. I took it without invitation and started sipping.
“It’s been a while since I needed to drink your tea,” I told her after a few sips.
“Yeah, you seemed to enjoy yourself this past few weeks,” she commented and even gave me a teasing grin. “But your future self seemed to be the opposite. He visited me last time despite my warning not to come here until he gained back his memory of his time travel.”
I frowned at what I heard.
So, did she mean that my future self didn’t know what was going on until I came back to my time?
Saskia raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. She seemed to know what I was thinking.
“So, why did you forbid him to come to you?” I asked instead.
The tea started to take effect. Little by little, I started to calm down. This was what I really needed by now. I just realized her tea was like a drug. And my only cure to be not independent of this drug was Yzabelle.
Those times we were together, I was never restless. I might be always annoyed by her stubbornness but I wasn’t restless.
And now that I couldn’t be near her, the restlessness started to kick in again.
Ugh! I hate this kind of feeling.
“Because I know you will come. I already told you that you are not supposed to meet your future self,” I heard Saskia answer me. “At first I wonder what took you so long to come to me. But I also realized you might have met your mate and you don’t need my tea anymore.”
She’s practically saying I just came to her when I needed her tea. And I didn’t feel the need to argue. She was right anyway.
“So, what was the problem? Why did you feel restless now that you are with your mate?”
I was about to answer when she suddenly spoke again.
“Wait, was she hot just like what your future self told me? He said I would like her new face now. Why didn’t you bring her to me? I couldn’t wait to meet her!”
“So, he also thought he was hot, huh? Then why did he swing a sword in front of her?” I couldn’t help feeling the anger towards myself.
I saw Saskia frown. “What’s wrong with his actions? Isn’t that the reason why you came to his time? To kill your future assassin before your future self meets her?”
“Yeah, but… ugh!”
Saskia grinned even wider. “I told you. You could not kill your mate.”
“Damn it!” I hissed and continued with my tea again. “Alright, you won! But that’s not the reason why I am here.”
I didn’t give her the chance to rejoice. I was in a big mess and she had to help me whether she liked it or not.
“So, what’s the reason?” Her left eyebrow arched.
I looked at her and started to contemplate whether to tell her or not. Up to this moment, I wasn’t sure if she was my mate’s friend or an enemy.
“Damn! How could you think of me as Laura’s enemy? I was actually her protector.”
Oh shit! She can read minds just like me and Yzabelle. How could I forget?
“Well, I was just being careful. It’s her life that would be at stake if I was careless.”
“Whoa!” Saskia made an exaggerated reaction. “So, the supposed assassin turned to be the protector now.”
“Oh fck! Just stop it, Saskia! I am serious!”
“Alright, alright.”
She gestured her hand and got herself her own drink. “So, what is supposed to be the problem?”
“You said you are Laura’s protector right?”
“Well, yeah. It started when she went to the timed portal I created. Actually, at that time, I didn't have any idea I would be the one to bring her at the time the moon goddess appointed me to be her protector. Since the time she was born, I was secretly watching her grow. Because that was what Selene wanted me to do. But everything got complicated when she went to the timed portal I created for her. Oh shit!”
Saskia snapped her fingers as if she realized something.
“That’s it!” she exclaimed.
“What?” I was confused by her actions.
She turned to me with widened eyes. “That must be the reason why it’s against my will to create a time portal. Because I subconsciously knew everything would be chaotic if she went there. The moon goddess's gift to her would never exist if she changed everything that was planned and laid for her. Oh shit! It’s my fault!”
“But didn’t Sabrina Morton come to exist in exchange for her? She became the strongest luna on this continent. Every werewolf pack avoided getting in trouble with her. Well, the lycans were at different levels, so we are not counted with those who feared the luna of Remus pack.”
“Exactly. That’s the reason why your alliance with Alpha Mavy of Blood Moon pack gave him the nerve to bully the Remus pack. I found out somewhere that your mate’s mother was actually Sabrina’s best friend and Alpha Mavy’s mate that he tortured.”
I could not answer her. So, that must be one of the reasons why Draco hated me to hell. Because lycans were responsible for Alpha Mavy’s audacity to bully other werewolves and torture his one true love.
But hey! I could still see a loophole.
Why, of all beings, Alpha Mavy chose to bully his mate. He was supposed to protect and love her. That was the law of the moon and the gift of the goddess.
I just couldn’t get a grip on it.
