Chapter 83

Yzabelle.

I should be happy we cut the intensity off right away.

But I wasn’t.

I was actually dismayed. Though, it was me who ruined it.

I didn’t know how Killian strongly handled it. He kept on driving calmly. He didn’t say anything. He just drove until we reached my Dad’s building.

“Thanks for the lift,” I said. He just nodded at me.

I wasn’t sure if he was pissed or anything. He remained calm and collected. I knew it would hurt just like how it did to me. That’s what I read.

I sighed heavily and went inside the building. I continued to Dad’s office. Miles was attentive and quickly approached and greeted me.

“Was he done with the meeting?” I asked.

“Yeah, he was actually waiting for you in his private lounge.”

I faintly frown my forehead. “Did you already tell him I was coming?”

“Not yet Ms. Bathory. Actually, the boss seemed to expect your visit.”

“Oh...” that’s all I could say.

How did he know I was coming? But I shrugged the thoughts off and nonchalantly walked inside the private lounge.

Dad was there, facing his back on me. He was watching the view outside the floor-to-ceiling glass wall. He was drinking his favorite wine at this early hour.

“Hey, Dad?” I greeted him and he quickly smiled at me.

But the smile was empty. He was always empty with emotions. I was actually wondering if he was really capable of feeling anything.

“Sweetheart, take a seat,” he said and motioned the couch to me.

I didn’t go there. I went to him and took the wine glass from his hand.

“Why are you drinking at this hour? Is there any problem with the business? Perhaps, your meeting didn’t go well?”

He shook his head. “Everything is fine here.”

He gently traced my cheeks with his knuckles. “Did it hurt?”

“Huh?” I was confused by the question.

“Hailey slapped you, right? She was blaming you for our divorce.”

I was about to ask him why he knew, but I suddenly remembered it had already happened before. He must have planted his eyes and ears in the university, or maybe somewhere near me.

He had done something like this before to ensure my safety. I couldn’t see them but I was sure they were there. If not, how did Dad know everything that was happening to me?

“I had been so comfortable lately that I forgot to look after you. I thought everything was fine. But don’t worry. I’ll take care of her.” He said, his face was blank.

But I felt the chills from his words. I surely knew he would do something to make Hailey pay for what she did.

“Nah, don’t waste your time with her. I made sure she wouldn’t lay a finger on me again. What else could she do when she was just a human?”

Draco was silent for a moment. I knew he was calculating everything I said. I looked him in the eyes and there, our minds suddenly connected.

‘You already knew? Did the lycan prince tell you everything?’ he asked through a mind link.

‘Oh my God! You have links to? Are you not a human also? Are you a werewolf or a lycan?’ I was surprised upon the discovery.

I was actually thinking he was an ordinary human who fell in love with my helpless mother.

‘I was neither a lycan nor a werewolf.’

My eyes widened in shock. ‘If you weren’t then, what are you?’

He wasn't. What else could he be?

He took the wine glass from my hand and gulped the whole content in one go. Then I realized the wine wasn’t a wine.

I gasped and cut the link between us.

“You… you are a vampire.”

Draco didn’t answer. He just looked straight at me. I couldn’t believe it. I watched him from head to toe.

Long slim legs, slim body, pale skin, red lips. Smart, sophisticated, classy, elegant and beautiful. That’s how the folklore described the vampires. But they also said that vampires couldn’t walk by day. They feared the sun—the light.

But Dad was nothing like that.

And if he was a vampire, I should be one also.

“Dad...?” I wanted to ask something. But I didn’t know where to start.

“I thought the lycan prince already told you since you were with him and he even drove you here?” He said, nonchalantly.

Then I remembered his eyes and ears.

Oh no!

Did they also report what we did inside Killian’s car? Did they also see that?

Is that why Dad was expecting me to come here today?

No… he was a vampire. He probably had the ways to know even without his men. Didn't he say he had been so comfortable that he neglected to watch over me?

It was he who watched over me. He did it all by himself even from afar.

And gosh! How I wished the floor opened up and swallowed me whole. If he was watching over me, he probably knew what we were doing inside Killian’s car.

But he said he thought Killian already told me. Maybe, he left us alone when things were getting intense.

I gaslighted myself with that thought. At least, I knew my father really well. He respected my privacy.

And oh, what did he mean by: ‘I thought the lycan prince told you.’

Did Killian know anything?

But he should have told me already.

No, I didn't think so.

“Let’s not involve him in this conversation Dad. All I wanted to know was everything about you, me and Mom. This family,” I firmly said, trying to protect my dignity against the fact that he must know what happened inside the car.

“Oh, aren’t you here to ask about my divorce with Andrea?”

“That also, but that was the least of my concerns now. I don’t interfere with your love affair. If you love her, go on. I would be happy as long as you are happy.”

Draco was silent for a while. Then he continued to the bar counter. There’s a bottle of wine but the content wasn’t wine. For human eyes and nose, it is. But I knew better. It was blood. I don’t know whose blood was that but the fact that he was drinking blood tells a lot to me.

He was undeniably a vampire.
