Killian.
Yeah, something was definitely wrong!
How in the world did Yzabelle hear human thought? It was not possible for a human like her. Unless she wasn't an ordinary human.
My jaw tightened at the realization. If she wasn't reborn as a human just like I thought, then there's the possibility that the reading about my future will happen.
“Oh, I deeply regret it. Please forgive my ignorance, Lady Yzabelle. If there's anything I can do to amend my stupidity, please, say it and I’ll do it to the best that I can,” Mr. Smith continued apologizing to Yzabelle.
She knotted her forehead, completely confused.
‘Why did he fret about something so little? I’d been shopping once in a while with Kate but I never remember having a situation like this,' she secretly sighed. 'Ugh! This is why I love online shopping. No hassle, no dramas.’
I shrugged at her thoughts. I was close to thinking that she was anti-social.
From the quick reports Butler Creek gave me, Yzabelle was living a low profile life. That must be the reason why only few people knew her real social status.
“Well, Mr. Smith, I will gladly appreciate it if you guys would not take this situation a bit exaggerated. Let's just continue with our own lives, could we?” Yzabelle finally said, as I expected her to be a person who didn't clamour for attention.
“Yzabelle, you bitch!” a loud voice was coming from somewhere.
My wolf suddenly growled hearing someone else cursing my mate.
My eyes roamed around the place and there, I saw an angry girl coming our way. Her eyes blew fire with jealousy.
Who the hell was this bitch?
***
Yzabelle.
Hailey? What the hell was she doing here?
I rolled my eyes as I watched my stepsister walking angrily towards us. What was her drama this time?
And wait? When did they come back? I thought they were on vacation?
And why didn’t Miles give me a call to notify me about Dad coming back? I sure did tell her to give me a call, didn’t I?
So many questions ran through my head but those were washed away when I heard Hailey spoke.
“How in the world did you get engaged with the heir of the Grant Empire? Did Dad and Mom know about this?” Hailey was blowing fire.
“Well—”
“Who the hell do you think you are to yell at my fiancée?” Killian suddenly cut me out.
“M-Master Killian, you must be confused. If your engagement was just arranged, maybe you took the wrong person. There’s no way our family will arrange Yzabelle for you.” Hailey explained hastily. She absolutely could not waste a second.
And I was surprised Killian didn’t entertain her. I mean, Hailey was a catch. She used to dress pretty elegantly and expensively. A normal guy would definitely give her enough attention and hear her out.
But then, he turned to the security personnel. “Bring her out of our way.”
“Yes, Master Killian!”
Things seemed out of control. The next thing I knew, Hailey was being
dragged outside the mall.
“How dare you do this to me?! I am the second lady of the Bathory household! My father, Draco Bathory, will never let this slide!” Hailey was screaming mad out of embarrassment.
She was raging with fury and it was not a surprise to me. She and her mother were always out there, proclaiming their status to the world. They kept on bragging that they were under my household. And having this kind of treatment definitely enraged her.
“How dare you Yzabelle?! I will surely tell Mom what you did to me today! You’ll be dead meat! I swear!”
I sighed as I heard her threats. I knew Hailey very well. She’d definitely come to her mother and tell everything. Then, to my father and exaggerate things to make me look bad.
Nothing’s new.
And this was why I left our mansion and gave way to them. I was so tired of their dramas.
“I’m hungry, let’s go.” I heard Killian and he walked me towards somewhere I don’t know.
I just followed him while my head kept wandering around. I wasn’t overhearing Mr. Smith’s thoughts when Hailey came.
Now, I didn’t know which one I should focus on.

The food was served and they were all looking so delicious. We started quietly when I remembered about Dad.
I took my phone out of my sling bag and dialed his number. It couldn’t connect.
What must be going on? Why couldn't I contact him?
If they were back from the vacation, he must be in his office.
“Can’t it wait? We are in the middle of a meal,” I heard Killian scold me.
I waved my hand in front of me. “It will be quick. I might forget it again if I don't do it now,” I argued.
I dialed Miles' number. It was ringing but none was answering.
What was wrong? Why was she not answering?
I dialed again and the same thing happened.
Ugh!
I quit. She must be in a middle of a meeting or something.
“We can drop by at your father’s office before we go home,” Killian offered as he took a bite from his food.
My eyes flew towards him.
How did he know about it? Surely he couldn’t see who I was calling since I was across from him.
I blinked my eyes numerous times. If my calculations to what happened at the mall entrance was right, and that I wasn’t just hallucinating, it must be true that he could hear my thoughts also.
But those things were impossible. I couldn't just accept and believe it after experiencing it once.
But he showed a lot of hints that he must be hearing my thoughts out.
“What?” He tilted his head, urging me to answer him. But his eyes suddenly widened. He seemed to realize something. “Isn’t it Saturday today? Do they work on Saturday?”
I was totally appalled hearing his side comments.
“Shit!” I shook my head and chuckled uncontrollably. “Gosh! How could I forget! I don’t have a sense of date lately.”
“Yeah, right. You’ve been working your ass off. I’m proud of you being so hardworking but it’s not bad to give yourself a break.” He smiled at me.
There were times when he smiled like that, I seemed to be taking things so lightly. I seemed to be transforming into water, streaming down the lake–peaceful and quiet.
I didn't know how he did that but everytime he gave me that kind of smile, I felt tranquil inside.
“You must be right. I need a break.” I decided to smile back at him. I was feeling light over the situation. “I’m going to enjoy the rest of the day. Can you bring me somewhere nice and refreshing?”
His eyes seemed to sparkle. “Got it! Finish your food and I will just make a call, then we are good to go,” he excitedly said.
And I did. Once we finished eating, he excused himself for a phone call. I waited for him to come back.
Few minutes passed and someone tapped my back.
“Hello, Yzabelle. Fancy meeting you here.”
