Back to Leoma

Waking up in the cave, the Alp sensed danger. His thick leathery skin started to quiver. Sitting up he looked down at his abdomen. His skin moved just enough to see it, but he felt it also. Sniffing the air, he couldn’t smell anything, but his body was telling him otherwise. His wounds were healed, making the Alp satisfied that sleeping helped him to recover. The Alp stood up, walking to the entrance he looked around. Trying to see if the danger was near, was it an animal or was it the warriors tracking him?

Looking into the forest he didn’t see anyone or thing. Suddenly he heard ruffling, crunching of leaves. His eyes shot open wide; they are coming. He took off out of the cave with his Alp speed and into the forest away from where the sounds of crunching leaves were coming from.

Heading deeper into the thick of trees and down the mountain, his body was telling him to get back to Leoma. He had to mate with her again, his body was craving her, licking the poison on her made his body react to her also. He could feel she was going into the heat again. His primal urge was to get back to her at all costs. Forgetting about the hunger that he was feeling, his only thought was her. Going farther down the hill he heard a blast from above. Stopping briskly from hearing the blast he slid slightly in the mud. Turning he saw dust billowing in the air and the sound of the cave collapsing.

The warriors found his cave. He was so close to escaping, if they found him, he would be dead, or they would be dead, but the Alp was pretty sure the warriors would be the ones dead. Turning back, he picked up his speed to head down the mountain toward the river.

After a few hours he finally reached the river, trying to sense which direction she was in. The Alp decided to go south down the river. Walking into the murky, cold water he dove under and swam up stream. Not wanting to be noticed, chances are she was still being guarded by one of the warriors or more. Maybe one of the humans will be there. He could use a human for his next meal, smiling to himself. He could mate with her then eat the human male. That’s a win -win for him.

After he swam a few miles, he stopped to glance around. Water evaporated before it could drip off his hot skin. Loving the feeling of the cold water, making his skin feel at peace with the surroundings. Seeing lights about another mile down, he knew that was the boats that people lived in, and Leoma’s was one of them. Diving back into the water he started to swim closer to the boat.

He could see the bottom of the boats under the water, swimming past the first few till he recognized the one Leoma lived in. He saw the hole he punched through, but someone had fixed it sloppily. Laughing to himself, this is going to be so easy, I need to take her back to a cave and away from these humans but this time no one will find her. He thought to himself as he swam the length of the boat checking out who he could see and hear.

He heard some talking, Galinn was talking to Leoma inside near the front of the houseboat. Swimming around to the front the Alp walked up to the edge of the river, standing there trying to sense what they were doing. He slowly and quietly walked up on the bank while looking around to make sure no one else was guarding the boat. He was confident the only ones there was Galinn and Leoma and they were inside. The others must be at the cave, and he wasn’t sure about the local humans that had been hanging out with the warriors.

He took slow and quiet steps up the stairs to the deck, waiting, listening to the conversation they were having inside.

Inside the living room Galinn was watching Leoma, he could tell she was fighting her sleep. “Hey beautiful, let’s get you back to bed, you need some sleep before the last wave of the poison goes through your body.” Bending down he kissed her on top of her head as she shook her head in agreement with him.

“I am a little tired.” She smiled at him.

“Come on, let’s go.” He took her hand and pulled her up from the couch and followed her into the bedroom. She laid down, he tucked the blanket over her and kissed her once again on the forehead. “I will be in the living room if you need me.” Looking into her eyes she looked scared. “Don’t be scared baby, I will not let anything happen. I promise.” Straightening up Galinn turned the light off and walked into the living room.

Leoma watched him leave, “I trust you Galinn.” Whispering to him as he stopped in the doorway.

“I hope so.” He said to her, he did hope so. He prayed that he could keep his promise of keeping her safe. Letting out his breath he didn’t know he was holding as she spoke to him. He took his hand and rubbed it down the back of his head over his hair. Taking out his band that kept his hair in a man bun, letting it down. Felt good having his hair down but when the humidity goes up, he will need to put it back in a bun.

Mind linking the others “Hey have you found out if the Alp was in the cave yet?”

“No, we don’t think he was. We were able to work our way through the fallen boulder and rocks to see inside but we can’t say for sure. If he was there was no way to live through this.” Kalisto told Galinn.

“Is he or is he not in that fucking cave” Galinn was getting angrier listening to Kalisto go back and forth.

“Don’t get so fucking upset, we’re trying brother. But let’s just go with he wasn’t in there and we will keep looking.” Kalisto told Galinn

“Great, whatever then keep searching for him. Leoma is still asleep, hopefully Levi and Jed are safe where they’re at. Galinn said and shut off the mind link to the other two.
