Delegating
They were all sitting in Leoma’s living room eating sandwiches and drinking soft drinks. Everyone giving their opinions on what to do next. Galinn chimed in while everyone was chattering. “I do know one thing and I think Kalisto and Alexios will agree.” Looking straight at Jed, “You know the strength this creature has, especially what he did to Alexios, and he’s a hell of a lot stronger than you Jed or Levi, so I think it would be safer for the both of you two to stay back with Rachel. We still don’t know if it will decide to go after her. If you two stay with Rachel, I need to guard Leoma and take care of her needs so Kalisto and Alexios should track down the Alp and kill it.” Looking at the other two warriors Galinn had a concerned look on his face while he staired at his half-eaten sandwich. “Look you two, we almost lost Alexios so I hope the two of you will fight as a team and not loose tack of each other this time.”
Jed looked hurt when Galinn said for him to stay at Levi’s. “Hey man, I can fight, I have a gun also.”
“Jed, I know you can fight and you have a nice gun but you are no match for this Alp, he is super strong, super-fast and he will kill you just to satisfy his appetite. Trust me, stay with Levi.” Alexios and Kalisto nodded in agreement.
“We got this Galinn, don’t worry about us. Alexios is fully healed and it was our own fault for not being more aware of the surroundings.” Kalisto said with his mouth full. “This is a damn good sandwich, we need to eat more of this shit.”
Jed laughed, “it’s cheap and easy to keep around. When you get your own place to stay I will take you guys to the store to purchase some necessities.”
“Thanks Jed, we appreciate that.” Galinn smiled and thanked Jed.
Hearing Leoma move in her bed, Galinn excused himself to go check in on her. Walking into the small bedroom he noticed her eyes were opened. Smiling at her he walked over to her and kissed her on the forehead. “Hey baby, how are you feeling?”
Leoma reached above her head and stretched, bending her back till it cracked. Laughing, “Oops, guess I was a little stiff. I do need a shower, looks like you already had one.”
“Yeah, I took one while you slept, lets get you showered and fresh clothes.” Galinn pulled the sheet off her, looking at her beautiful body, seeing the bruises and a few cuts left from being kidnapped by the Alp.
She looked down her body to where Galinn eyes roamed. “Well, I can’t do anything about the bruises, help me up.” She asked.
“Sure thing baby” he bent down took both her hands into his and pulled her up to stand. She was swaying a little. “Can you walk, I can carry you to the shower.”
“I can walk just give me a second.” Breathing out, she shook her head letting him know she was ready to walk. He moved to the side so she could pass him. He followed her to make sure she didn’t fall. Once in the bathroom Galinn turned on the water and gave her a towel. She stepped in and just let the water run over her. He stood there watching her shower, wishing it was big enough for two people. He could take another shower if she was with him.
Stepping out, he took the towel, “I can do it Galinn.” She tried to grab it from him, but he pulled it away. “No, I’m going to dry you off, I want to take care of you.” As he was drying her, he thought, I’m hooked, she’s the one, I don’t think I can stop these feelings. He knew soon he will have to tell her about she will probably be carrying a child, and she will need to talk to him about the Alp. Did it mate with her? If so, there is a one in three chance that the child could be the creature’s. But he’s going to wait till after the poison has run its course.
Slipping on a clean nightgown, he told her to wait for him in the bedroom. Walking in the living room Galinn looked at the others, “Alexios and Kalisto you two know what to do so it’s time. Jed head on to Levi’s. I have Leoma to take care of.” They all got up and left the boat. While outside Alexios asked Jed to have Levi give them directions on how to get to that area the Alp might be at. Jed nodded and took his phone out calling Levi.
“Hey Jed, what’s up?”
“Hey, Alexios and Kalisto needs the directions where you think the Alp is hiding at.”
“You know how to get there why ask me?” Levi said
“It’s been awhile and I’m not positive, just give us the damn directions dumb ass.” Jed was getting irritated at Levi. Why does he always have to question everything.
“Okay, I will text it.”
A few minutes later Jed’s phone vibrated, looking at his phone he told Alexios and Kalisto how to get to the old homestead up on the mountain. “The warriors thanks Jed and headed into the forest at a fast sprint, easily jumping over logs and fallen limbs. Jed took a small kayak that was on the edge of the river, he was going to go down river in the kayak since it was faster than walking himself. Once he got to a certain point he will walk the rest of the way or maybe even call Levi to come and pick him. Pushing the boat out onto the water, he looked up at the dark sky, watching all the stars twinkle above him. What a beautiful quiet night to be in a fucked-up situation.
