Chapter 52 Cue and the Cretin who Saved her pt 2
Rage burned in the Cretin’s dark eyes. “He will die for this,” he said, his eyes going dark.

“He’s probably dead already. Without me to gather for them, they would not survive.” Cue said, regret crossing her eyes.

“Hey,” Trigger said, grabbing Cue’s chin and tilting her face up to look into her eyes. “No tears for rapists.”

Cue sniffled and nodded, turning to face the Cretin. “I’ve been afraid of you for so long, and now you’re here, and you’re not a threat? Do you have a name?”

“Draven,” he said the word like it was foreign to him. “But the people call me Shepherd.”

“The people…?” Cue asked, looking at the old woman who still hadn't turned around as she busied herself.

“The other Cretins and the zombies.”

Cue blinked, confused not only that there were more Cretins but also that the zombies could think to call him by any name at all.

“Yes, the creatures you indiscriminately kill can think. They are still in there, trapped, dying a never-ending death,” he growled at the three of them.

Gunner stiffened and stood, putting himself between the women and Shepherd Draven. “We will be leaving now,” he said stiffly, herding them to a hatch in the floor and opening it for them.

With two massive steps, Shepherd was across the room and slamming the hatch shut with his foot. He hooked an arm around Cue’s waist and tucked her close. “Not with her,” he snarled. “She needs to stay with her kind!”

“Fuck what kind she is, she belongs with us!” Trigger snapped.

“She’s mine!” He roared, throwing Cue over his shoulder and squaring up to Both Trigger and Gunner with whom he stood nose to nose.

“I think you’ll find the scent of her pussy on my man’s cock, so I beg to fucking differ!” Trigger said with a smirk.

“And they call me out of control!” Shepherd growled, glaring down at Trigger.

“Don’t I have a say in any of this?” Cue asked, kicking her feet over his shoulder and struggling against him.

“No,” the three of them said in unison.

“Oh yes, I do!” Cue shouted, grabbing a knife from Shepherd's waistband and slashing his back with it.

Blood quirted, and Shephered roared, dropping Cue right where she was.

“You crazy bitch!” he screamed.

“That’s right, I’m crazy, and don't you ever fucking forget it!” She backed towards her friends with the knife held up.

“Now that is quite enough!” the old woman said finally, slamming her cooking utensils on the counter and turning around with rage in milky white eyes. “You three are fighting over this girl like toddlers over their favorite toy! And you!” she pointed at Cue. “I haven’t given you the okay to leave yet, and you’re cutting up my nurses!”

Trigger scoffed, “Him? A nurse?”

“One of the best you snarky twit!” the old woman barked. “Now you, Cue, sit your ass down while I fix the mess you caused!”

Cue plopped down immediately on a chair with her lips tightly closed.

Slowly, Trigger and Gunner also sat down, thoroughly chided by the ancient, blind old woman.

She busied herself about behind Shepherd, muttering swear words as she stitched him shut. Every once in a while, she popped her head out to listen for anything from the three others, but nodded satisfactorily when she heard nothing.

“You can’t take her,” Shepherd said finally, wincing through the pain of the stitches.

“You can’t have her!” Trigger bit back.

“I don’t want to stay here!” Cue cried, reaching for Gunner, who pulled her protectively into his arms.

“You don’t have to stay here,” Gunner told her. “I’ll just kill him for you. Problem solved.”

“You will do no such thing!” the old woman shouted, ripping off the end of the sewing string with her teeth.

“Gran, maybe killing them is for the best. They aren’t like us!” Shepherd said.

“Shut the hell up, you stupid oaf!” Gran said, slapping him in the back of the head. “Cue cannot leave Shepherd because he needs to teach her how to use her gifts. We will not ask you two to leave Cue, as you are lovers. Therefore, there is only one real option.”

Gran stopped talking, assuming they would figure it out, but as the silence stretched out, she gave an exasperated sigh.

“It means you must travel together!” she sighed and threw her hands into the air.

“Absolutely not,” they all said in unison.

“That's the worst idea!” Cue said.

“You don't have a choice. He will not leave you now that he’s found you, and your lovers will not abandon you to a stranger.” Gran said in a no-nonsense way.

“How am I supposed to travel with them knowing what they will all be doing?” Shepherd growled, glaring at Trigger and Gunner.

“I don’t know, Shepherd. Join them for all I care! But Cue needs to learn how to control a zombie before a horde falls on her, and she doesn’t know what to do with them.”

“He won't be joining anything,” Trigger snarled. “Not our traveling group and definitely not our bed!”

“A second man to protect you both wouldn’t hurt—”

“Gunner, if you finish that sentence, I swear to god I won't speak to you for a year.” Trigger interrupted him.

“Hasn't he kinda been with us the whole time?” Cue asks with a sigh, giving up.

“That's not to point!” Trigger barked, yanking Cue into her arms. “What if he wants to take you from me?” she asked, kissing her gently and smoothing back her hair.

“No one could take us apart, Trigger. No one.” Cue promised. “But if what they are saying is true, I’m going to need all the help I can get. I’d never forgive myself if I lost you because I couldn’t control myself.”

Trigger growled under her breath, glaring at everyone, but staring daggers at Shepherd. “Fine, but one wrong look from him and im gutting him from his jaws to his drawers.”

Shepherd narrowed eyes at her, but nodded.

“Fine, we travel together,” he said stoically.
