Chapter 65 Snowman
THE FIFTH ELEMENT 🔥🌊🌪️⛰️🌀
Damon’s POV~
I was elated when my eyes finally found Cassie's.
We locked eyes and I smirked. She smiled back, shaking her head a little like she couldn’t believe I was really here.
She looked even more beautiful than I remembered.
I gave her a reassuring nod. She exhaled, like she’d been holding her breath this whole time.
“Now is the moment you all double your training,” the man said. “Get stronger. Fiercer. We attack sooner than expected. Take them by surprise. They won’t know what hit them.” He said and Everyone cheered.
He turned and walked back inside. Everyone followed—Cassie included. She gave me one last look before disappearing inside.
“Can’t wait to teach those little brats at that school a lesson,” someone muttered in the crowd. “I’ll freeze them all over.”
People around him laughed.
“I wouldn’t underestimate them,” I said. “You don’t know what they’re capable of.”
They turned to me.
“Oh yeah?” One guy stepped forward, water swirling in his palm. He froze it mid-air and launched it straight at my face. It stopped an inch away, then dropped and shattered at my feet.
I smirked to cover the jolt of surprise.
Deep down, I was shocked to see Another ice wielder.
I knew people born with extra powers got cast out of the Academy. I didn’t expect to find one here.
What if every single person here had an extra power?
This would be bad. Really bad. For the school.
When I said we were cooked before, that was an understatement. If all of them here really did have extra powers, then we definitely ARE more than cooked.
“They might not know much about the elements complexities,” I said, keeping my voice even. “But they’ve been learning elemental magic since they were born. I’m pretty sure they know how to bend it to their will.”
“Why are you talking like you know them so well?” Someone stepped forward. “What, are you with them?”
All eyes turned to me.
“What? No way.” I forced a laugh. “I hate those guys. Always acting high and mighty. Can’t wait to wipe that smug look off their faces during the battle.”
“So what’s your specialty?” someone asked.
“Specialty?” I blinked.
“Your extra power. Dude, are you new here or something?”
“New-ish, yeah.” I exhaled and let ice crawl up my arm, forming a sword. It gleamed sharp and clear under the torchlight.
A few “whoas” went up from the crowd.
“Whoa, that’s awesome! You gotta teach us that.”
“Don’t you know how to conjure a sword?” I asked.
“Not all of us,” one of them said. “Most of us just stick to ice balls and spikes. Easiest to make.”
Guess I had an edge here. Thank goodness.
“Well, I’ll teach anyone who wants to learn,” I said.
Yeah, right. Like that was ever going to happen.
“Alright, back inside everyone!,” someone called.
The group started breaking up, heading back into the compound.
I hung back, waiting for everyone to clear out. I needed my chance to open the gate for Jake and the others.
~~
Night fell fast.
I slipped to the gate and found two guards standing there. I ducked into the shadows.
Great. How was I supposed to distract both of them?
I thought hard, pacing in my head, until an idea hit me.
I’d build a snowman.
I chuckled at how stupid it sounded.
But it wasn’t the first time. When Jake and I were kids, we snuck out once and used a snowman to pull the guards away.
Okay. Snowman it is.
I pulled moisture from the air, shaped it into a rough figure, and breathed cold into it. My mom taught me this trick when I first discovered my ice powers.
The water and snow fused together. The snowman stood solid, waiting.
Now I just had to move it.
I tested it slowly—tilting my head, stomping my foot. The snowman mirrored me perfectly.
Good. Testing done.
I ducked behind the wall and controlled it from a distance, guiding it toward the guards.
“What the hell is that?” one guard muttered.
“Is that… a snowman?” the other asked.
“Yeah, but how?”
“And why is it just standing there, staring at us?”
“Probably one of those ice freaks messing with us,” the first guard said.
I waved through the snowman. Both guards jumped.
“Okay, that’s creepy. Let’s destroy it,” one said.
They started moving toward it.
I took off running in place while the snowman bolted the other way.
The guards chased it, leaving the gate unguarded.
I quickly went by the gate and yanked it open and peeked out.
“Jake! Sage! Guys?” I whispered.
Relief hit me when I saw them sprinting toward me.
Phoebe was the first one through. She was Fast.
Must be the Air element thing.
One by one they slipped inside. I shut the gate behind us and dragged everyone into the shadows just as the guards came jogging back.
“Stupid snowman,” one guard panted. “Why’d it suddenly stop running?”
“No idea. Weird.”
Jake shot me a look. “Snowman? What are you, six?”
“It worked, didn’t it?” I said. “You’re in the gates.”
He shrugged.
“So what’s the plan now?” Sage asked.
“Hold up,” I said. “There’s something you need to know. And you’re not gonna like it.”

Jake’s POV~
I couldn’t believe it was happening this soon.
I knew a war was coming. I just thought we’d have more time.
I hadn’t even found my father yet.
I couldn’t die without seeing him again. Even once.
Poor Cara didn’t even remember what he looked like anymore.
“I can’t believe people with extra powers actually exist,” Gia said to Damon. “You saw it with your own eyes—ice powers?”
Damon nodded, then glanced at me before looking away.
I’ve always known Damon had ice powers since we were kids and always thought it was cool.
I never understood why the Academy banned it.
I wondered how many others in school were hiding it, just like he was.
“Look,” I said, “I know this is a lot. But we can’t forget why we’re here. We’re here for Cassie. We can’t let them use her.”
They all nodded.
“So, we can’t all stay,” I continued. “We need to split up. Some of us needs to go back to warn the Academy. They need a head start on what's happening here.”
“Split up?” Madeleine’s voice went sharp. “No way. We’re stronger together. I’m against it.”
“Can’t believe I’m saying this,” Cara added, “but I agree with her. Splitting up is too risky.”
“Jake’s right,” Sage said quietly. “People back home need to know what’s coming. Some of us will stay to
help Cassie. And Some will go back to warn everyone else.”
“Fine,” Damon said. “But the question is, who stays and who goes?”
We all looked at each other.
