Chapter 20 Blue eyed siblings

Chapter 20 Blue eyed siblings
The Fifth Element 🔥 🌊 ⛰️ 🌪️ 🌀

~Cassie’s POV~

“You okay over there? Do you need some help?” Damon asked me while coming over to where I was sitting.

“I’m fine. I don’t need help,” I said to him.

“You sure about that?” he asked me.

I sighed heavily.
“Yeah. I’m sure,” I said to him.

“You know, I would love for us to spend the whole night here together, but you sure you don’t want to go back to your dorm? It’s getting kinda late,” he said to me with an amused smile.

“No. I have to find more information. I can’t just leave now,” I said to him and stood up from my seat to continue skimming through books.

He simply kept quiet and let me continue.

🌊

After some more hours, I finally gave up. There was nothing else here about my powers. Or maybe I haven’t found it yet.

“So, you still want to keep going or… we should call it a night and come back here tomorrow and pick up where we left off,” Damon said to me with an amused smile.

“Okay. Fine. I give up. For now,” I said and sat on the floor.

Searching for something you’re not even sure is there can be really draining.

“Come on, I’ll escort you to your dorm,” he said to me and brought out his hand for me to take.

“Umm… Thanks,” I said and stood up without taking his hand.

He nodded and smiled to himself.

“Can we go now?” I asked him, and he nodded.

“Of course. Whatever you wish,” he said to me, and I looked at him.

I wondered if my powers ever acted out on their own without my knowing.

I opened the door and waited for him to come out.

~

On our way out of the library, Damon gave the key back to the old lady at the counter. She took it without a word.

When we got out, everywhere had already gotten dark. Campus lamps buzzed. Crickets loud.

“Oh geez, it’s dark now. I’m so sorry I held you out till now,” I said to him.

“You didn’t hold me out. I actually had fun today. It’s nice staying with someone that doesn’t know how messed up you are. So thank you,” he said to me.

I was about to say something when someone cut me off.

“Damon! Where the hell have you been? I’ve been looking all over the place for you,” Sage said to Damon angrily, storming up the path.

This isn’t good.

“Would you stop pouting, baby sis? And why were you even looking for me? I’ve paid you off what I was owing you the last time, so what is it this time?” Damon said to her.

Oh. I remember now. Sage and Damon are siblings. No wonder they looked so much alike. Same sharp jaw, same winter eyes.

“It’s your mother. Did you suddenly forget you were supposed to have a meeting with her today?” Sage said to him angrily.

“Oh,” Damon said, sounding like he just remembered something.

“Exactly! And guess who she had to take it out on… Me!” Sage yelled at him.

“Oops, my bad,” Damon said, sounding amused.

“You think this is funny? And what were you even doing all this time, huh?” Sage said and finally looked over to me.

Oh no.

“You,” she said to me.

I smiled awkwardly. “Hi,” I said to her and waved my hand at her.

“What the hell are you doing with her? Wait, don’t tell me you were with her the whole time I was looking for you,” Sage said to Damon.

“Okay. I won’t tell you,” Damon said to her and folded his lips, trying not to laugh.

“You jerk! You were with a girl while I was at the receiving end of the consequences of your actions,” Sage said to him angrily.

Damon was quiet but he was amused. Eyes dancing.

“I’m sorry. It was my fault. I asked him to help me with something. So I’m the reason why he missed anything it is that he missed. I’m so sorry,” I said to her.

She looked at me and scoffed.

“Damon, you owe me again for this. And you, if I were you, I’d stay away from him. He might look innocent, but he isn’t,” Sage said to me and left me and Damon standing there.

“Don’t let her scare you. Beneath all that cold icy exterior, she’s the sweetest person ever,” Damon said to me, and I smiled.

⛰️

Damon walked me to my dorm, asking me tons of questions about my old school and life in the mundane world. What music I liked. If I’d ever been to a beach. Normal stuff.

He said goodbye to me when we got to the door.

Immediately I got inside the room, I saw Madeline and Stacy there. They were standing too close to the door, looking at me.

“Start. Talking…” Stacy said, sounding both excited and worried. And Madeline just kept a straight face. Arms crossed.
