Chapter 24: A Game Of Golf

Once again Lucia found herself in the large living room of the second Henderson villa, seated before Mrs Henderson, her ' mother in law to be ' with Liam her ' husband to be ' by her side. At this point she wanted to laugh, remembering how she told herself she would never come back here.

' The first time I was here, I had no aim but now it's totally different, in order to succeed I need you, Mrs Henderson to like me and that is why I cannot mess this up ' Lucia thought to herself as a bright smile crept onto her face.

" It's been a while... How have you been, mother in law? "Lucia asked causing Liam who was busy scrolling on his phone to glare at her

" Mother in law? "Both Liam and Mrs Henderson asked

Liam gripped Lucia's arm and pulled her closer to himself then he whispered into her ears

" I don't remember letting you have alcohol before we got in here so why is it that you're acting drunk? " Liam asked, confused as to why Lucia was talking in this manner.

Lucia freed herself from Liam's grip " Yes mother in law, isn't that what our relationship will soon be like? " Lucia replied, still smiling

She moved closer to Liam and whispered into his ears " I know you know that I'm not drunk " She smiled and planted a kiss on his cheeks, causing him to freeze.

She pulled back and turned to Mrs Henderson who was watching them with a teasing smile on her face.

" Sometimes he can be childish... I have to be matured most of the time and succumb to his childishness sometimes " Lucia said giggling

" Hahaha " Mrs Henderson joined her in laughter

" I know exactly what you mean, " Mrs Henderson replied, still laughing.

" Right? If he's this childish I wonder how he must have been when he was younger " Lucia clapped her hands as their laughter subsided

" On the contrary, he was more matured when he was younger " Mrs Henderson replied

" Ah... Maybe he's being childish now because he d idn't get a chance when he was younger " Lucia laughed

" Right? " Mrs Henderson also laughed once again

" You know I'm right here... Right? " Liam asked, slightly annoyed

" That's what makes it more amusing " Lucia replied, smiling at Liam, who hissed at her.

" You know when you first visited I had my doubts about you, i thought you were extremely uncomfortable or you were a fake but seeing you today has totally cleared my doubts " Mrs Henderson confessed to Lucia, with a genuine smile on her face

Liam and Lucia exchanged glances with each other, surprised at her confession.

" Why did you think so? " Lucia asked

" Well you were quiet... One might even say too quiet, you kept waiting on Liam to make the calls " Mrs Henderson explained

" Ah... " Lucia chuckled

" Well I was having an off day that day, my friend was seriously sick and Liam didn't tell me where exactly we were going to so I was feeling really surprised and shy when he introduced me as his fiancee " Lucia explained

" Oh there is no need to explain anything to me... " Mrs Henderson was saying when Lucia interrupted her

" There is a need though... I can't have my future mother in law doubting me now " Lucia cut in

" You're a really cute girl, are you aware of that? " Mrs Henderson smiled

" Thank you... Oh I almost forgot I brought gifts for you... Give me a moment " Lucia said as she stood up.

" There's no need for you to go by yourself, I've sent some maids to get it " Liam said, stopping Lucia from going outside.

" Oh... You could have told me sooner " Lucia pouted as she sat back down.

Liam shot Lucia death glares while the latter stuck her tongue out, causing Mrs Henderson to chuckle.

" I see you both truly love each other seeing how childish you both are acting "

" Wha... Oww " Liam was about to ask when Lucia stepped on his toe causing him to wince in pain

" Indeed... Indeed we are " Lucia smiled back, hinting Liam to keep shut with the corner of his eyes.

" Ah... Here come the gifts " Lucia said as she noticed the maids getting closer to them.

" Mother in law, you know I really thought hard about what I could give you as a proper apology for the way I was to you the first time we met... Then I came to the conclusion that whatever it is that I give you cannot cause a significant change to your collections... " Lucia started

" What are you talking about? C'mon don't talk like that... '' Mrs Henderson frowned but Lucia gently smiled at her

" You didn't let me finish mom... Yes it cannot cause a significant change to your collections but it can be an addition, I heard you love french wine " Lucia continued, signalling the maids to drop the gifts on the table.

" I also got you some tea... I noticed from my last visit that you love tea, so there are varieties of tea, there's chamomile tea, ginger tea and others... Please accept my apology " Lucia smiled

" This was totally not necessary... I'm not angry about the last meeting " Mrs Henderson replied

" Still... I really want to apologize for giving you a reason to doubt me, please accept it " Lucia said pushing the wrapped gift toward Mrs Henderson

Mrs Henderson turned towards Liam " You've found yourself a really lovely girl son " She smiled and turned to Lucia " Thank you for this lovely gift... I'm happy you're in my son's life "

" Not only am I in his life but soon I'll be his wife as well so I'm here to stay " Lucia blurted out and instantly regretted it as she noticed a change in Liam's facial expression

" Aren't you? " Mrs Henderson laughed

" Kim " Mrs Henderson called out to her head maid

" Yes ma'am " The maid answered rushing to Mrs Henderson's side

" Store these properly " She ordered pointing to the gifts

" Yes ma'am " Kim replied and called on some maids to take the gifts in.

" Well then who's ready to play golf? " Mrs Henderson asked leaving Lucia confused

" Golf? " Lucia asked

" Didn't you tell her? " Mrs Henderson asked Liam

" I didn't think it was necessary... If she doesn't know how to play golf then there's no need for her to learn it " Liam replied crudely

" Oh... I play golf " Lucia lied

" Great then... We'll have a quick game of golf, then we'll eat " Mrs Henderson clapped her hands

" Yes " Lucia smiled

Mrs Henderson excused herself from the duo and walked towards the lawn where preparations for their game was being made.

" How the fuck is golf played? " Lucia muttered to herself, she stood up to go and get her bag from the car but Liam pulled her hand causing her to fall on him.

Lucia stared at Liam's face hypnotized by his eyes and his lips, she fought the pressing urge to slam her lips on his.

' So this was what it was like that night ' Lucia thought to herself

" What the fuck are you doing? " Liam asked coldly, dragging Lucia out of her thoughts
