Chapter 12: No Repercussions
Lucia woke up with a pang of headache, memories of last night flooded her mind.
" I agree to be your fiancée " She remembered herself saying.
" Argh!! " Lucia shrieked, unable to believe she had been so bold last night, she was well aware that today was going to be full of repercussions.
She pulled herself together and made way to the bathroom to take a brisk bath, after which she got dressed up. This time she chose a black lace shirt and a white pencil skirt with white fish-mouth wedge shoes.
She picked a black bag, packed all she needed, and set out for the bus station. The bus took too long to come, making Lucia feel like this day was set to be doomed. She waited for about thirty minutes before a bus finally came.
The bus ride was a smooth and relaxing one for Lucia, she tried to convince herself that nothing terrible would happen today but somehow her mind refused to believe that.
" Damn you Kyle " Lucia cursed and placed a hand on her head that was still aching.
Lucia got to the bus station where she was to stop at around 6:44 am. One thing she had learned from yesterday's experience was that enthusiasm won't get you anywhere, not in this company at least. She got off the bus and walked to the company's building preoccupied by the thoughts of the worst thing that could happen to her today.
Lucia was about walking through the entrance door of the Empire when someone called out to her.
" Miss Camden " Lucia heard a familiar voice and turned to see who it was.
" Good day Miss Carla " Lucia greeted on seeing Carla who was with Palmer
" Mr Palmer " Lucia said in acknowledgement
" Miss Camden " Palmer replied with the same tone Lucia had called him with and they all laughed.
" Have you been fine, you look stressed " Carla said out of concern
" Oh I'm fine, just a little stress and all that but I'm totally alright " Lucia replied with a smile on her face.
They all walked into the building and separated ways on the ground floor.
Lucia moved to the reception desk and set up her table, as she cleaned up she got lost in thoughts.
' Wait a minute, does that mean he might treat me differently? ' Lucia thought to herself
" Nah... Not Liam Henderson, he didn't even offer to take me home yesterday " Lucia countered herself
' Even still I might change my mind and leave, so it's also dependent on how he treats me ' Lucia reasoned
" But still that shouldn't include him hovering around me " Lucia said out loud causing a little bit of attention shifting.
" Sorry " Lucia said in apology
After a minute, workers from different departments rushed to the ground floor surprising Lucia.
" Is there a fire? " Lucia asked Mr Palmer when she saw him.
" The boss is here, our routine greeting... " Palmer replied, trailing off at the end in an assumption that she already understood
" Oh that crazy routine " Lucia muttered loud enough to not be heard, she took her position close to the entrance door and bowed her head.
" Wait a minute I hope he doesn't do anything stupid like stopping in front of me to say something " Lucia muttered
" That'd be really stupid " Lucia convinced herself
" He's here " A lady worker said and Liam Henderson stepped into the company.
' Still he's Liam Henderson the powerful owner of this Empire, the man who can do anything ' Lucia thought, stealing glances at him though her head was bowed
" Good Morning Sir " Everyone chorused, except Lucia.
Lucia was quite surprised when Liam walked past her without saying a word or looking at her, she raised her head up and eyed him from behind for making her worry over nothing until he suddenly turned back.
Liam found himself searching earnestly with his eyes for Lucia, once his eyes locked with the crazy little woman staring daggers at him, he turned his back, towards the elevator and left.
" What was that? " Lucia heard a woman say to her friend, apparently this company was also full of gossip.
" He was looking for someone, I can swear " Her friend replied
Lucia clicked her tongue and returned to her desk, ready to start work for the day. She expected him to come to her later on in the day but that was all it was, expectations. His shadow didn't even come close to her let alone his being.
" Does he not want to talk further or what? " Lucia muttered to herself when she realized it was late in the afternoon, two hours to her closing hours.
" Hello " Lucia heard a feminine voice say, she slowly looked up and her eyes were met with the sight of a woman with beautiful pale skin, a pair of ocean blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair.
Lucia felt speechless for a while, this woman exuded a very strong aura, her beauty was out of this world and her fashion sense was on a whole different level.
" Hello? " The woman repeated, as though asking a question this time.
" How may I help you? " Lucia responded once she found her tongue.
" I wish to see Liam Henderson " She replied crudely
' Who's this woman... And what business does she have with Liam ' Lucia thought
" Do you have an appointment? " Lucia asked politely
" No " The woman replied
" You need an appointment to meet... " Lucia was saying before the woman interrupted
" Place a call " The woman cut in and Lucia complied
" Your name please " Lucia continued, still politely
" Mia " The woman replied
Lucia placed a call to Liam and luckily he responded on the first ring.
" Hello Sir, someone... A woman named Mia wants to see you " Lucia said once he picked up the phone.
" Let her come " Liam replied, and hung up
Lucia was stunned for a moment, she couldn't believe he said nothing else to her.
" Follow me, " Lucia said to Mia.
She led Mia to Liam's office, naturally she would have given directions but this time, she chose to go herself.
Getting to his office, Lucia knocked gently on the door and patiently waited for him to respond.
" Come in " Liam said
Lucia opened the door and ushered Mia in before leaving.
" Hey " Mia greeted Liam so casually.
" Hi " Liam replied, his eyes glued to the screen of his laptop.
" How have you been? " Mia asked taking a seat before Liam
" I've been well... You were supposed to visit me yesterday " Liam continued
" Oh something came up " Mia lied
" By the way, you have a beautiful and warm receptionist but don't tell her I said that " Mia chuckled.
" My lips are sealed, " Liam replied.
" So what brings you here? " Liam asked, shutting his laptop and coming closer to her.

Lucia walked back to her desk wondering why that name Mia sounded familiar, by nature she had short memory but she felt like she had heard the name recently.
" Mia... Mia " Lucia muttered to herself
" Mia... Mia gala " Lucia finally remembered where she heard the name from
" No way is that Mia? " Lucia sounded surprised
After a few minutes, Mia came down to the ground floor and walked towards Lucia.
" Thanks for your help " Mia said, flashing her a friendly smile before walking out the exit.
" You're welcome " Lucia replied although Mia had left.
" She's very kind " Lucia said to herself
She attended to about three more clients before closing hours came by, Lucia packed up her things and left the company.
As she walked to the nearest bus station, she scolded herself for letting herself get disturbed over nothing, reaching the bus station she sat down on the bench provided.
" In the end, there was no repercussion " Lucia muttered to herself, she waited a long while for the bus to come, but just when she was about to find an Uber, she heard a car honk. She looked up and saw a familiar looking car. She walked closer to the car and looked through the window.
" Enjoying the view? " Liam asked
Lucia was surprised to see him in the driver seat
" Get in, " Liam said, in a commanding voice.
