Chapter 76
Chapter 76
Silas PoV
Alpha winter’s is a fucking coward, he won’t face me alone, he has to send his men against me. He hopes they’ll take me down, but I know they won’t, they aren’t as strong as I am.
The issue is, I don’t have fucking time for this, I heard Talia scream five minutes ago, five minutes. She could have been killed in that time and I’d be powerless to help her.
I promised her I would keep her safe, and I’m failing, just like the arsehole Tristan failed. But I am not him, and I’m not going to let her down.
But first, I have to kill the snake she calls a father.
He isn’t a wolf, far from it. He a slimy snake. Vermin.
“Face me like a man!” I shout, snapping the neck of one of his younger warriors.
I don’t care how old they are, if they attack me, I’m going to kill them. If they’re brave enough to go against me, they’re stupid enough to die.
Winter’s smiles, he thinks it makes him look tough, but I can see the tremble of his hands and the way he steps back every time I grow closer. He’s a coward, he uses others to fight his battles for him.
I on the other hand, don’t. I get my hands dirty myself. I fight the battles I start, and I always win. There isn’t a fight I haven’t won.
But I can’t concentrate, I’m too worried about my mate. I know she’s strong. I’ve seen it myself. However, being strong does not mean that she can fight multiple people at once. That skill takes time to develop, but I know she can do it. She has the spirit inside of her to go a long way.
I’ll train her myself, but that doesn’t help me right now.
I need to end this so I can get to her.
Alpha Winters takes another step back when I shove one his men into the dirt at his feet.
“You should come fight for me.” He says, trying to bargain with me. “Bring my daughter and I’ll let you two have each other, all you have to do is fight for me.”
The audacity of this man, “I’m not someone who can be bought.” I say, my voice filled with fury.
He holds up his hands. “We can settle this like men, tell me what you want and I’ll give it to you.” He says in a hurry, showing me just how much of a coward he is.
He doesn’t want to fight me because he knows that he will lose.
But I’m not going to let him get off that easy.
He hurt my mate, tortured and tormented her for years. Her childhood was filled with blood and trauma, all because of him. All because he wanted something the moon goddess refused to give him. A son.
Little did he know, he already had a son, one that hates him just as much as his daughters do. Like my own father, he failed at his job to protect his own children, and now he has to face the consequences of that.
“We are settling this like men.” I say, my voice low. “And like a true alpha. I’m going to protect my Luna. From you.”
Zade appears by my side in seconds, smiling brightly, his chipper attitude usually annoys me, but right now I like the way that it makes his father tremble. He’s worried he’s going to lose, and he’s right. He isn’t outnumbered, he does have the bodies to fight back. He is outmatched though, and he fucking knows it.
Like a snake, he’s trying to slither his way out of trouble.
I won’t let him get away with everything he has done, Talia is distraught any time she mentions this man. He really fucked her up in the head.
But I’m going to fix that. I’ll get her the help that she needs.
“Father.” Zade laughs. “I didn’t take you for a coward.”
Alpha winter growls, his face going a strange shade of purple. “I’m no coward boy.” He says, “but I see no need to fight when we can work something out.”
“You came here to kill Talia.” I say, voice strained with anger, “there’s nothing to work out, you will die today Alpha winters.”
Zade turns to me. “Is Talia ok? Where is she?” He asks, “last I saw she was fighting.”
“I don’t know.” I admit, “I lost sight of her when the fighting began.”
Zade shakes his head, “go and find her, I’ll handle things here.”
I look between Zade and his father; “you sure you can do that?” I ask.
Zade eyes turn dark, “I’m sure.”
I believe him. I probably shouldn’t, but I do.
“Make him suffer.” I say, turning my back on them both.
He’s right, I need to find Talia, I need to make sure that shes ok, otherwise this was all for nothing.
I search the crowd of dead bodies, but I don’t see her there.
I don’t know if that’s good news or not, I just hope I’m not too late.
“Talia!” I call, listening closely.
It’s hard to hear anything over the sound of fighting and death, but I need to concentrate. I have to find her.
A warrior comes rushing at me, claws ready to strike at my throat, I don’t even think about it. I extend my own claws and stab them straight through his chest just as he reaches me.
He manages to strike at my arm, but it doesn’t hurt as much as my chest does. My chest is tight with worry for my mate. I don’t handle stress well. I never have. And this is stressing me out.
The warrior drops to the ground, bleeding all over, I stare at him for a couple of seconds, just to make sure that he doesn’t get back up, and when he doesn’t, I move along.
I spot Talia surrounded, Tristan and his men are with her, but they’re fighting whilst she knelt on the floor, her wrist at an odd angle.
Who the fuck has hurt her?
I rush towards her, scooping her into my arms. She screams, fighting against me until she realises who I am.
“Silas.” She breathes out in relief.
“I’m here.” I say, pulling her against my chest. “I won’t leave you again.”
Thank the goddess that she’s alive, hurt, but alive.
I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
Now we just have to get rid of the enemy and I can take her to get her wrist checked out.
One more hour, sixty more minutes and I guarantee that the enemy will be dead.
Even if I have to do it my fucking self.
