Chapter 74

Chapter 74
Talia PoV

Red eyes punches me in the chest, knocking me back several steps as the second guy with black hair, one much smaller, grabs my arms and pins them at my sides. I struggle to break free, thrashing my body from side to side hoping that he will let go of me. But he doesn’t. It only makes him hold onto me tighter.

Red eyes walks forward, a triumphant smile on his face, “little girls shouldn’t try and fight men, because men will always win.”

I growl at him, stabbing my claws into the second guys leg, blood instantly pouring out so fast it makes me sick. But it doesn’t stop me from stabbing them in again, forcing him to let me go.

He drops to the ground, holding his leg and cursing my existence. But I can’t focus on him right now because red eyes is moving closer.

“I’ve changed my mind; I’m not going to kill you. I’m going to make you mine.” He says, walking around me. “I’ll show you what it means to be a woman. I’ll show you your place.”

“I’m already mated to someone else.” I say, my tone cold as I watch him closely, waiting for the attack I know is coming. “I’ve been marked, you can’t remove a mate mark.”

He laughs, and I hate him more than I have ever hated another person in my whole life. More than I hate my father.

This guy thinks he can take me and make me his just because he wants to, but that’s not how the world outside my fathers pack works. My fathers ways are twisted and meant to keep women silent and obedient. I’m neither of those. And I never will be.

If he thinks I’m easy to break, he’s in for a shock.

I’ll never be his.

“I don’t care about mate marks.” He says with a smirk. “Or have you forgotten we have a witch under our control who can remove a mark whenever she pleases?” He laughs again at the look of pure horror on my face. “It will hurt you, a lot. But I can get those pesky marks off you in no time.”

My blood runs cold, so cold a shiver runs down my back. Is this guy out of his mind? Removing a mates mark can kill you, even if it’s done by a strong witch.

It can also make me lose my wolf, though I suppose that news would make him happy, a woman is easier to control when she has no way of fighting back.

“I hate to break it to you, but I’m not going anywhere.” I say, keeping my voice steady even as I tremble on the inside. “And no one is taking away my mated marks.”

He steps closer, but this time, I don’t give him a chance to speak. I don’t want to hear whatever he has to say.

He’s talked enough.

I drag my claws down his chest, catching him completely off guard, but I don’t cut him deep enough before he catches my wrist, twisting it until the bone pops and breaks. I scream, I cry out so loud it distracts Zade long enough for him to be taken to the ground. He fights back, and soon ends up on his feet again. But now he’s no longer focused.

He’s worried about me. But he can’t help me. I have to help myself.

I pull my broken wrist out of red eye’s grip and step back, trying not to let my tears fall down my cheeks. That hurt, a lot. But I can’t let him see that.

I can’t let him see my worry or my fear.

This guy is clearly stronger than all the rest, and I’m the one who has to face him, alone. I don’t know if I can do it. But that doesn’t mean I will give up.

I can’t go back to that life, I can’t go back to be a silent protester in my own body.

I won’t go back to having no control over my life, I’d rather red eyes kill me.

“Poor She-wolf, did that hurt?” He mocks, circling me again, looking for an opening to take me down.

“It did.” I say, keeping my voice full of hate. “But it won’t stop me from hurting you.”

He wipes some of the blood from his chest and shows it to me, “you already have, and I can’t wait to punish you for it.”

“Shut up.” I growl, “I’ll never be yours.”

“Did I say you had a choice?” He chuckles, cracking his knuckles and his neck. “I’m the beta now, I get to choose any woman I want.”

What happened to the old beta?

I want to ask, but I’m scared of the answer.

I don’t care about the old beta, he wasn’t my friend. He was cruel and cold just like my father and he whipped me more times than I can count.

But the change of hierarchy is concerning.

I didn’t take red eyes as someone who had ambitions, but maybe I was wrong. He may even want to be alpha some day.

But I won’t ever give him that chance, because I know for certain if I don’t kill him he’ll never let me go.

I have to figure out a way to stop him, I just don’t know how.

“Congratulations on your step upwards.” I say, my voice thick with sarcasm.

He smiles, but it ain’t a nice smile as he sparks up a cigarette, clearly unbothered that he’s supposed to be fighting me.

He clearly isn’t in a rush to end this, but I am.

I hear fighting behind me, and I just hope that Silas and my brother are ok, I hope they’re managing to take the enemy down. But I can’t look, I can’t take my eyes of this man.

If I do, he’ll hurt me. I’m certain of it.

“I can’t wait to teach you how to be my wife.” He says softly, the first time he’s lowered his voice. “And if you are lucky, I’ll put a child inside of you.”

I almost vomit at the thought, I do not want a child with this man.

“Not going to happen.” I say, straightening my shoulders. “I won’t let you anywhere near me.”

He laughs again, and I grow more and more angry. This guy is so full of himself, he believes he can break me. But many have tried and failed before.

I’m not easily swayed.

And I’ll never be his.

Not in this lifetime.
