Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Tristan pov
I feel like I’m slowly losing her, it’s like the only person she is interested in is Silas, like she isn’t interested in me at all. Is what I’ve done really that bad? I only wanted to keep the peace between her and my brother, I didn’t expect it to end like this.
“Fuck” I growl, throwing my head into my hands.
I thought having a mate would be perfect, I didn’t expect to have to share. The moon goddess is supposed to give the other half of my soul to someone who deserves it, but now I feel like its all gone wrong.
I wanted a Luna who shared my values, but Talia wants to have Silas too, she doesn’t seem to care what I think, or what I want.
Surely what I think matters too, I love her, I love her so fucking much, but I’m not sure I can keep doing this.
I want to talk to her alone, but it seems every time I try her brother and Silas are always there.
I get up from my desk and walked towards the big window overlooking the back yard and I see them all smiling, playing with Aria like I don’t exist. I shouldn’t be jealous, but I am.
My wolf howls in my mind, “I don’t want to share her anymore” he growls, but I can tell he’s hurting too.
“I don’t know what to do” I tell him. “I don’t know how to make her see us again.”
I decide to do the only thing I can and I walk down to the garden, hopefully she will be in a better mood now that she has had time to calm down.
“Talia!” I shout as I walk onto the grass, trying to get her attention.
She turns, smiling at me brightly like she didn’t just kick my brother out, or like we didn’t just argue.
“Hey Tristan.” She says, walking towards me. “I thought you’d be busy with your work, have you come to join us?”
“I have.” I murmur. “Though I wasn’t sure you wanted me here.”
She takes my hand and squeezes, “Maybe I should apologise, I’m sorry things got heated back there.” She whispers, “I didn’t mean to go off on you like I did. I was just angry with James.”
“You don’t hate me?” I ask, Hating how pathetic I sounded.
She shakes her head and smiles, “of course not, I love you Tristan. Even if you do have a temper.”
I laugh, “it’s in my nature as an alpha, I’m afraid.”
Silas walks over, his face annoyingly neutral, “I didn’t expect to see you out here, I thought you’d be sulking in your office.”
I want to punch him in his smug face. But that would upset Talia, and I don’t want to do that.
The last time we fought, she broke down.
I don’t want to make her go through that again.
“Funny.” I snarl.
Silas claps me on the shoulder, “don’t take it personally, Tristan. I’m only joking.”
Is he? Because it doesn’t seem like it.
“Let’s not start a testosterone fight again.” Talia giggles, clearly in a better mood.
I’m glad she’s feeling better, but I wish I was here to see it.
I feel like i’m missing so much.
And I fucking hate it.
“Why don’t we all go inside, and I’ll get the omegas to make us some lunch?” I ask, trying to ignore Silas.
Talia nods, “sure, that sounds nice.” She says, “let me just wrangle my brother and sister.”
She walks away, leaving me alone with the man I hate.
“You don’t need to be so uptight all the time.” He says, his voice cold. “Maybe if you relaxed a little, she wouldn’t be so scared of you.”
“Everything was fine before you came along.” I growl at him, but keep my voice low. “You ruined our bond.”
I don’t want Talia to hear us, I don’t need another thing for her to be mad at me for.
Silas scowls at me, “I’ve done nothing to ruin your bond, if it is ruined, that is because you can’t accept that she has two of us.” He shakes his head, “you should really think about what you want, because if you can’t handle me being in the picture, maybe you should step back.”
“I love Talia.” I say, keeping my voice tight.
He shrugs, clearly unimpressed. “You might say that. But I don’t think it’s true. You love the idea of having a mate: one to yourself.”
“That’s how it’s supposed to work!” I argue, voice rising.
“The moon goddess decided Talia needs more, who are you to fight against what she wants? Have you even thought about what Talia wants once?” He steps closer, “because from where I’m standing, all you have thought about is yourself.”
He’s wrong, he’s so fucking wrong.
I know what she wants, I’m just not sure I can handle it.
Silas and I clearly don’t get along, will we ever? Or will we be at constant war with each other?
“You can think what you want about me, but I’m not going anywhere.” I say. Arms crossed.
“Maybe not.” Silas smirks. “But treat her like shit again, and I’ll take her from you, one way or another.”
I stare at him, he’s unbelievable.
He’s threatening me on my own land, outside my home.
I should kick him out, but honestly, I’m not sure if Talia would leave with him or not.
I’ve given her no reason to stay.
Maybe I should change that.
I need to show her how I feel. Not just tell her. I need to prove it.
Talia has been hurt. A lot.
I need to be different.
I need to show her what love feels like, and I won’t let Silas stop me from doing that.
