Chapter 162

Chapter 162
Kaizen
“Because I don’t want you sneaking off and using it.” I just outright told them how I felt about it. They’re old enough to understand. “That’s how big accidents happen. Nobody wants to get hurt with these. If you hurt someone, they won’t heal.” I said as a bit of a half lie. Since they’re so green, they’ll probably kill mortals outright.
I have pups that one day will share the title of 4th General. They’re good pups. I can see their hearts that they aren’t the kind of kids to go off world, and kill a country just to see what their powers do on purpose. Ari once he figures it out should be strong enough to sink a small island… Vex could likely destroy a small town, at least the radius of the pack.
With that comes powers that must be taken seriously. I cannot raise them to be reckless, or careless. They must have some semblance of compassion, and understanding. Remorse won’t necessarily happen…. I don’t fucking care…. But I’m also not shooting arrows in the sky to see the detonation like humans in the backwoods shooting cans.
\-----Willow----
The TV was on Nightflix… but the boys were outside with their dad. The other kids of the pack were still at daycare or school.
But I would take the break Kaizen offered. I felt refreshed already, but I think he does this a bit for himself as well. I know he still thinks about how hard it was when they were little, but that was because they were so small… and needed so much.
Now they can talk, ask, dress and bathe themselves for the most part… I only have to interfere on muddy days now. They also have daycare, and we plan for them to go to school next school year. They missed that window this year, but I don’t mind. It just gives me a little more time with them before they start getting big.
“You look sad.” Sang Eternya, borrowing my rocking chair. His baby was asleep in his arms.
“Not sad, just…. They’re so big now.” I mumbled. “Their paws were the size of a Dime! A Dime!” I yelled.
“And Arktus was held in a hand.” Said Elinore. “Now he’s almost walking like 5 steps a day!”
Eternya nodded, rocking their son. They named him Arktus. Since they wanted to raise their child like a child, their son was a baby that looked about 12 months old. He was born a little blue baby eagle chick at first, and he woke up in that form a few weeks ago. I didn’t ask how many months he was, but he hatched from an egg. They stayed out of all affairs while his egg was being protected, which no one gave them trouble for.
Just like Kaizen, the moment he was able, Eternya applied for on-call paternity leave. If I’m not mistaken Herculean is also on paternity leave. The courts of Light and Night share similar views on allowing both parents involvement in their claimed children’s lives.
“Just go outside.” Said Eternya happily, finally getting his baby to sleep. Arktus had a firm grip on his glowing orange hair too… so I doubt he’ll be able to get him laying down anywhere else.
“I have a better idea.” Said Elinore. She got up off the couch, and shoved me. I didn’t know where she was trying to herd me, until I was shoved near the closet. “Go! Go be with your mom!”
“You know… that’s not a bad idea.” I said with a small smile.
I knocked on the closet wall…. but there was no response.
They said no electronic devices, so I can’t call…. And I don’t know how to be super sneaky yet… I’m getting there though. The vanishing technique form my teacher is rock solid, but I’m not good yet.
“Hmm….” Said Elinore. She got a bowl and put some water in it, then she peered inside.“Oh I can teach this to you come here!” She beamed.
She placed my hands on the bowl, and I could see dad passed out with the remote in his hand, and my little sister crawling on the floor, scooting to the movie song I love and hate…. Mom was in the living room coming in with popcorn, and they were watching Popstar Demon Defense Force for the like 8th time…. But at least the ending was sweet.
The Demon Prince defeated the evil Demon King with the help of the Demon Defense Force, but he couldn’t stay in the human world. In the end, he was banished below, but not without. Because of their love, demons of good intention can pass through the gate the Force made…. Just like I can visit my mom.
Humans found out about the demons, and were scared at first, but their society welcomed them.
“I’ll see you guys later.” I beamed. I tried being at least quiet as I went through, so dad didn’t wake up.
I figured they wouldn’t hear me. The moment I went through the closet, I was hugged.
“Sorry Willow, I thought you were the tv!” mom said happily.
“It’s alright mom.” I hugged her back. “How’s the marathon?” I joked. She rolled her eyes.
“Oh my goodness…. Number 2 today, but nap time is in hopefully 30 minutes.” She said happily.
“Oh! Want to watch Jamperdy?” I asked. We used to do that growing up all the time.
“And we can order some takeout like we used to.” She smiled. “What are the twins up to?”
“…Well, they can outright fly And float now, shoot lightning, and summon a bow and arrow like their dad.” I said with a small smile.
“Can you disappear yet?” She asked.
I became the color of the carpet…
“…. Does this count?” I giggled. “If I laid on the floor and closed my eyes…. In the dark.”
“When you perfect it, I want you to show me first.” She said with a smile.
“Say, I thought dad would be up by now?” I asked. Dad was out like a light.
“Oh, he’s just tired. He took extra shifts.” She admitted.
“Mom, I could give you money.” I offered, and she denied it.
“That you visit is enough.” she said rocking my sister. “We’re doing ok, he just wants to put a hot tub in the backyard before next summer.” She giggled.
There was a knock, and mom opened the door. The light smell of priest meant it was my uncle.
“It’s unlocked Clarence!” Shouted mom happily.
“I brought company.” He smiled, but it disappeared when he saw me. It was replaced with fear for my sake.
Father Macky was there with him. His grizzled, scarred face and bare arms showed that he was a Warrior for the Light. He made my instincts flare. I remembered him growing up. He was always kind and soft spoken, but he brandished a sword at his hip. He always wore it back then…. When I was a kid, I never thought about it since nearly every one I saw back then had one…. But now that I’m an adult, and a kitsune, I know that sword is silver… and he would run my parents through with it after he was finished with me.
I didn’t mean to, but my eyes became foxlike. I could feel it, and see the greenish glow around my feet. I stood, shielding my mom who stood there with my sister, shocked herself, but she’s unable to stop him… I don’t know if I can… I’ve never used my powers against anyone, but I would if he took a swing.
His eyes widened on seeing me, and he walked in the house, barging in filled with anger, and surprise.
“Those animal eyes. What Darkness is this?” He hissed. His wrinkled, milky-brown eyes glared at me with pure hatred. “You were dead Willow. I read your soul its rights… and you rise from the grave.”
“I thought you were already told.” Said my uncle.
“I was not.” He hissed. “I only came to bring some snacks and see how you all were holding up…. Not this. You’ve done well to report this Clarence.”
“I report nothing! This house is protected.” He said defensively.
“By Who? The Horned One? He scoffed.
A puff of black smoke appeared in the room. It crackled with electricity.
“No, his grandson.” Said Kaizen at his full height. “Begone mortal. Your hostility towards my wife summons my uncle.” Kaizen motioned another, larger cloud. The room smelled of struck matches and electrical burning….
“No, worse. His eldest son.” Said Xaxas pointing a clawed thumb at himself, about 9 feet tall. He bent down so that his horns didn’t scrape the ceiling, or his crown burn it. “You better have a damn good reason to pull me from my important business.” His glare could cut steel…
He was in just black sweatpants barefoot, so his ‘important business’ was probably just video games, but I appreciated that he came so instantly, and so swiftly for my parents….
“And a representative of the Master.” Said Uriel, in a white business suit. “The Church knows of miss Willow’s visitation with her parents. She is allowed to do so by the direct permission of the Master himself. Do not bring dishonor to his words.”
That priest looked a little broken for a second. His mind was blown…
I could tell Father Macky didn’t know if he should kneel or start holy water splashing…. He chose to bow to only Uriel. Uriel is not just a mythological beast. He’s painted as he is in his human form, but with his wings out usually. Uriel is a saint, one who really does radiate white light from his skin.
