Chapter 152
Chapter 152
A/N: The POV is a little bit everywhere, but Willow, nor Kaizen were here for this, and lol go to chapter 142 of the High King’s Bride to see the rest of the lil adventure.
Arviel
“You really mean to help don’t you Sunny?” Lia asked that honestly.
We may have been enemies with Zuviel and his bloodline, but Lia has ever been a mother… I think even if we weren’t bound in matehood, she’d ask this.
“I do. I would not undo all the peace that is made.” Despite the war that rages in my heart…. But I did not say that part aloud.
“Then go help our grandson. Words are words… you cannot undo your doings, but we can ensure the safety of the new godlings.” She said hugging me.
There was a time when there would be hesitation in her words, no matter how venomous… but that was my fault. Our bed was cold because I know by now, if not for the mate bond, she may have left me.
And if I had a chance to talk to my past self, I’d say ‘good riddance’….
But now, I have a new purpose; if peace is here, I will not be the one to ruin it. I’m enjoying that my mortals suffer a LOT less… things go smoothly… The only thing my angels, or his demons have to worry about are our unsuccessful worlds now. No more ‘eye for an eye’, planet for a planet….
I had to lean down for her forehead kiss.
It felt nice.
I left before I stayed with her, and honestly I just wanted to sit next to her and hold her hand…. I never held an understanding of that kind of intimacy until now…
…. And Zuviel’s castle….
I wanted to hold my nose, but I wouldn’t be rude…. Hell for me is my opposite. Just as Zuviel hates my angels and how pretty, perfect, and pleasant all my holy light is, I feel the same about his realm.
We’re opposites, but that does not mean I need to be an ass. I gave a friendly wave. Being invited, not barging down here like a brother opening the door suddenly was nice.
Lulliba looked busy, not looking up from the red threads she wove, while Zuviel had his tray of instruments sanitizing. I’d already done that, since well… I can cheat, being the sun.
“What a joyous day.” I said wishing I’d been better…
“It is father.” She said with a smile… She does not call me that often.
I am proud of my only daughter, well…. The only one not from an affair.
I have many sons, but she is the only child I ever made…. The only daughter able to grace my court… One would think War, or even Bounty would be stronger, Yet, of all my blood, she is the strongest. On her own, she gained her own power, a name, and children from a man who loves her…. Something I regret now, having a mate myself. I was a shit father, but they reap the rewards of being good parents.
Their children love them, and I do envy that, but I also understand that my choice to be blinded by my own light is my fault.
“Come, have coffee before we depart. Their water hasn’t broken yet.” Zuviel beamed.
A black cup of coffee was presented on a black tray. A demon in a suit, one who looked pretty human, came to be my attendant. He, and his band of other well-dressed demons, gave me a padded armchair, and a small table to enjoy this treat. The teacup was black and red fine China, and the black cream holder held brown cream. Processed black sugar cubes don’t smell of sulfur anymore… Pouring the cream in there made it gray, but it tasted mostly normal, but otherwise I honestly enjoyed myself.
Everything here holds this off, unholy taste for me, but that’s because of where and who I am. I cannot expect a holy flavor in Hell. Ha. But even with that, Zuviel has the rare ability to cook.
“It’s really good.” I commented. “It’s better than last time.”
“You Noticed?! I made coffee filters infused with carbon. No more hellish off taste!” He beamed.
….. He did that for me…. I’m the only one who visits. Well father, but I’m sure his mortal flesh can’t taste the flavor of a realm.
“I think I’ll try that the next time you visit me.” I mumbled….. It still feels almost wrong, being treated with hospitality…. I did so many awful things, yet there is forgiveness….
Lulliba screamed in excitement.
“Oh They’re Precious!” She yelled. “Almost everyone has their mate!!!!”
“Then we should get ready to go.” Said Zuviel, kissing her on the forehead. She giggled.
“I can’t wait to see what they name them!” yipped Lulliba. “And all on my holiday too?!!! AHHH!!”
“Happy Lunarween dear.” I said shaking my head. She’d just made a connection, but I swear… I Swear I saw it jump. I see faster than the speed of light… nothing gets past me, but I won’t say anything. Whichever child that was had their fate changed, and if I had to bet gold, it’s on the only godkin male being born, the son of my grandson…. Though because of my harsh words, I don’t think I’ll ever get called grandfather…. By any of my blood.
I must reap the harvest of my own making.
I have made my peace with that….. It’s their right to forgive me or not, or let me in or not.
The girls had an issue. I sensed it when their water didn’t break, but they went into labor.
“Let’s go.” We both said at the same time.
They were to give birth on Xaxas’s island castle. Their clinic was elvish, filled with a mix of fae wonder, forest, and modern medicine from their level 6 world in regard to technology. We won’t make it higher, preserving it as it is since the mortals there are for the most part happy. Once it gets to level 8, technology worlds become dystopian or utopian… there is no in-between.
We also all agreed that the mortal world birthing was best, since those demigod serpents are flesh, and so are both mothers. Hell is a spirit world, one that doesn’t like to release the soul. Being there could risk them being unable to come up unless summoned, and nobody wanted that.
“I’m here.” Said Zuviel. He didn’t bother hiding himself, nor did I from the mortals. “I brought Lia’s pet bum.” A clawed thumb was pointed as he grinned.
“Oh fuck you.” I rolled my eyes at his joke. “I have gifts for you both. After the birthing of course dears.”
I summoned a throne, while Zuviel put a hand on Harmony’s belly. He did the assessment, while it was already agreed beforehand that I was only here in case intervention from both of us was needed. I knew that would be the case though. I could see from my spot that those babies aren’t going to move, it’ll be double C-sections.
“Your water has not broken. A Cesarean would be best.” He teleported, stating the obvious. “Nixxia, you will need one as well. I won’t risk it.”
“I can help.” I said standing… I looked closer, and Zuviel kind of pissed me off. “All 6 of their horns are like 12 daggers in their mother’s womb… why didn’t you cover them?!I mean what you did looks alright, but they’re basically bare.”
Just like baby animals, those born with horn and hoof get something over them, but they needed more. Had their wives had any accidents, it might have proved too much for their mortal bodies to contain so many powerful children.
“I didn’t think to!” Zuviel hissed back. “I thought one thick layer was enough, and I’m right. There is no damage.”
“To be honest that’s fair. We think too highly of our work to double and triple layers of anything.” I mumbled…. Arrogance and pride run deep in any god’s blood. Even if I noticed while the children developed, he likely wouldn’t have changed anything.
I closed my eyes for a moment. All 6 newborns could technically be birthed, but I don’t want to risk it. His bloodline has a natural affliction attached to them. It’s hard for their women to deliver, or live after delivery.
I figured since Xaxas would be more agreeable, but I didn’t have to share words with my ‘brother’. Zuviel already knew my intention, and he used magic to put his instruments in Nixxia’s side of the magical, grass floored room.
“I can tell there’s too much red magic in the little ones for me to directly touch them.” I lied. “Not without my sunlight purifying Harmony.”
/Ha. Cheeky./ Zuviel linked with a grin, I could tell.
/His children’s first memory should be his claws, not my hands./ I linked back.
“Then I’ll deliver my own whelps.” Said Xaxas firmly. The boy was scared, and notably so… He’s so young.
“…You have no medical training…. Arviel help your grandson.” Zuviel teleported.
“Huh….. He actually admitted it. Alright. First incinerate the germs off your hands, I’m the sun, so I can glove your claws.”
….Why did I feel all warm and fuzzy? I guess it feels good not to be part of the problem.
A curtain was created to give them a little more privacy. My feelings aside, I really did want the boy to deliver his own children…
“I’m sorry.” He said pressing his forehead to hers. “Difficult births are part of my family’s bloodline…”
That weighed on his heart, because he blamed her condition on himself. And to an extent, he is right…. My children tend to be strong and they’re able to walk by 2 months…. Zuviel’s children usually have horns, and dark magic, or strength like Asanguis’s boy. I could already tell that he’ll be as strong as a lesser god, but without the responsibility…. But strong children can be hard on the mother.
In those cases I usually interfered.
“I wanted this.” She said that looking him in the eyes, soothing his worry. Isabelle, when she gave birth to Harmony’s cousins, died. It was because Zuviel needed to be there, but everyone feared he wanted those pups for ill intentions.
I put the scalpel in his hand. He would do this himself.
“I have cut suns in half… but I cannot cut you.” He said looking at his hands as if they were already covered in blood. I understood that too.
“You’re both doing fine.” I said shaking his head. “I remember delivering …. So many of my own sons.” I chuckled. “How fragile life is hmm?”
How regretful I feel about that…. Hurting Lia… and allowing her to hurt the women I seduced… I owe the Night Court, especially Asanguis. Those unclaimed children and mistresses fill his realm to the brim, because as much as I love my brother Humblon…. He likes torture a little too much.
