Chapter 224 - Shake Things Up
Chapter 224 - Shake Things Up
Roland's POV
I stared down at the papers in my hands, unable to process what I was seeing.
My mind raced as I tried to make sense of the information laid out before me. Each line seemed to unravel a tangled web of secrets that I never knew existed, leaving me both anxious and determined to uncover the truth.
"She said, 'expanding,'" Fenrir yapped, just as confused as I was.
I glanced up at him, my heart pounding with a mix of dread and curiosity.
"What do you think she meant by that?" I asked, hoping he might have some insight that could guide me through this chaos.
Fenrir tilted his head, his ears perked up as he considered the question.
"Maybe it means there's more to the papers in front of us than we realize," he replied thoughtfully, narrowing his eyes as if he were trying to piece together a puzzle that was just out of reach.
What were we missing? What more could we expand?
I took a more thorough look at the paper she gave me.
The words seemed to blur together, but then a particular phrase caught my attention, sparking a flicker of understanding.
"Wait," I said, my heart racing as I pointed to a line that hinted at a deeper connection to our current predicament. Ultrasound.
One that was taken recently.
The image was grainy but unmistakable, showing a small, developing life nestled within. A wave of emotions washed over me as I realized the implications of what this could mean.
That's when I hear it, the small fluttering sound coming from her, like a little butterfly's wings.
My heart raced as I processed the reality of the situation.
Could it be true?
My gaze snapped to Amaia's belly, where her hand protectively lay. She was openly showing me clues, but I was too blind to see them.
Goddess, is that what I think it is?
I leaned closer, trying to catch every detail, every nuance of this new world unfolding before me. The sound grew more distinct, filling the space with a sense of hope and wonder.
In that moment, everything else faded away, and all I could think about was the incredible journey that lay ahead for us.
"You're... you're pregnant?" I stuttered as reality slowly settled in.
The weight of those words hung in the air, transforming the atmosphere between us. A mixture of joy and apprehension washed over me as I tried to process the magnitude of this life-changing revelation.
"Yes," she whispered, looking down at her belly and nodding her head. A small smile tickled at the side of her lips—she was enjoying my reaction.
Could it be?
Did I hear her correctly?
I felt a rush of emotions, my heart racing with excitement and fear.
"She looks serious!" Fenrir yapped, not impressed.
I ignored him while my mind wandered in all directions.
Amaia just had pups a couple of months ago.
Was it even possible for her to get pregnant so soon?
"Well," Fenrir huffed. "You two have fucked like bunnies... and you didn't take precautions…"
I shot Fenrir an incredulous look, still processing what these developments could mean for us. The thought of more pups sent my heart racing, imagining the chaos and joy they would bring into our lives.
"Are you serious right now?" I carefully asked, hoping she would give me the same confirmation as she did a moment ago.
"Yes, Roland," she said, raising her chin slightly. "I'm pregnant. We are going to have another pup."
Pup. Single. Not multiples. This would be a welcome addition to the family. An expansion.
I could already envision the tiny feet padding around the house, the soft whimpers during the night, and those first clumsy steps. As excitement bubbled within me, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of our growing family and the memories we would create together.
A mixture of emotions crashing down on me.
Fear. Hope. Joy. Excitement.
"I'm going to be a father," I muttered in disbelief. "Oh, Goddess, this is wonderful news!"
"You are already a father," Fenrir yapped, seeming unfazed by my joyful reaction. His nonchalance made me chuckle, grounding me in the reality of the moment.
I glanced at him, realizing that this journey was not only mine but also one we would share together, navigating the ups and downs of parenthood side by side.
But Fenrir seemed unimpressed by the news.
What was wrong with him?
Why didn't he seem excited about the news?
"Yes, but do you know what this means?" I exclaimed.
Fenrir just looked at me as if I had lost my mind. His expression was a mix of confusion and indifference, making me wonder if he truly understood the gravity of the situation.
I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to convey the joy and anxiety swirling within me, hoping to spark some enthusiasm in him.
"No," he finally stated. "What are you fussing about?"
"I'm going to be there all the way," he said. "Every minute of her pregnancy...!"
Fenrir raised his eyebrows and said, "All I can see in our future is more diapers and milk bottles."
I rolled my eyes at him.
"You're really not seeing the point?" I stated.
"Nope," he replied, shaking his head. "Pups means no sleep... I like my sleep..."
"Come on, Fenrir," I said. "Remember the time when Amaia was pregnant with our first pup?"
"Yeah, briefly," he replied. "It's been a while. All I remember was that it took a hell of a long time to cook that pup up... it took longer than I thought it would..."
"And?" I asked.
"And what?" he huffed. "What are you getting at?"
"She couldn't get enough of us," I stated. "She was wild and daring. Her hormones are all over the place...."
Fenrir raised an eyebrow.
"So you are hoping Amaia would be hormonal?" he asked.
"No. No. No," I defended. "That's just a bonus—the crazy sex. It certainly wouldn't hurt our chances," I replied with a smirk. "Besides, a little excitement might just be what we need to shake things up around here."
"Then what are you so excited about?" he asked, getting frustrated.
"We used to love seeing Amaia's pregnant belly grow," I said, seriously. "Pregnancy suits her. It brings out her best features. That's her most beautiful look...."
I sighed dreamily as my mind flashed pictures of her standing with her hand protectively on her belly. Her skin—glowing. Her belly—round, while her silver eyes sparkle in delight as the pup softly kicks.
The thought of her radiant smile filled me with warmth, and I couldn't help but imagine the joy that would soon fill our lives.
"I just want to cherish every moment of this journey," I added, feeling a surge of anticipation for the new chapter ahead. "I can't wait to feel the little wolf kick and move."
"Oh," he said. "Well, it seems like this one is going to take a while before he'll join his siblings."
I ignored Fenrir and shifted my attention to Amaia. She seemed amused by my reaction.
"We will have to extend the nursery," I said, clearly excited about that.
"Already ahead of you," she replied.
