ANGELO
He didn't know what he was doing.
My judgment with this woman was breaking down.
My day to day life was always simple, no extra complications than the ones I usually had, but, from the day I got married I swore never to fall in love again or feel affection towards anyone...
Suffering and having extra problems was not of my interest, until she arrived, until that mission, until that day when she showed me the pregnancy test and she just left.
Remembering those days felt dark and at the same time alive, every time I saw her, the innocent look of her blue eyes and that nun's uniform that always left me thinking about everything she had left behind; increasing my desire every time. But now it was worse, because I was beginning to know her real side, a hurt, strong and distant one, one who wanted to get closer to me but I refused to accept it after everything that happened between us, I wasn't going to lie, she destabilized my world and gave me a life expectancy.
I ran a hand over my head remembering the pills I bought one hopeless afternoon, where I felt like I no longer wanted to continue in this damned world but I didn't dare take them; I saved them, I left them for when I finished the last trip out of the city; one last mission, however I never believed that that last mission before my suicide she would come back into my life.
At that moment nothing mattered to me, my wife was on the verge of death, she could simply go to the hospital and consume the rest of my insurance, but I saw the gray and disgusting future, a discolored future, where nothing anymore made sense, ever. I admitted it but I made a serious mistake by marrying her, a woman who gave me no happiness, only anguish and sadness due to her illness, no children, no future, and that consumed me completely.
But in those blue eyes, the flame in me was rekindled again, her lips, her agitated breathing, the eyes of desire that she reflected increased my desire for her and the way in which Celeste seemed to want to tame a beast that all it did was push her away.
She didn't deserve my hostility, she wasn't to blame for my suffering, she wanted to help me, but she was so angry at the world that she refused me.
Could she save me? Give me the reason to stay here in this world when everything I thought was lost?
I sighed at the thought of her wasting time putting a wall between us and at the same time convincing myself that it was for the best because I was already screwed and I was only hurting her with my frustration.
We split up to continue the mission, Celeste went with Freddy to check the other attics and I went with one of the church security men because she wanted them both away from me.
Not even I myself could understand why she threw my only possible lifesaver into my brother's arms, thinking about it bothered me and at the same time convinced me that it was for the best; keep them away from me.
But now that he was here he couldn't keep his head calm thinking about what they would be doing alone.
I was throwing it into her arms.
I opened the attic room near the bedrooms where the security man told me that one of the new nuns lived there, I climbed the stairs slowly listening to the wood creak under my feet, when I opened the door I coughed when I saw that there were many things, a bible, an old mattress and it stank of rotten rats, but the woman was not there.
"Do you know if she went out?" I asked.
"She doesn't usually go out in the morning. "She commented.
As soon as she said that there was a noise downstairs, I was alert, we went down quickly only to see the reflection of her black clothes when she ran out the door.
Here she was.
It was her; Georgette murders her loose.
I started running while I took the gun out of my pocket, he wasn't going to get away.
CELESTE
"I'll go up, you don't go up." said Freddy unfolding the ladder.
"I'll hold the ladder for you," I offered.
"Okey."
I held on up the stairs, my mind going to minutes ago where Angelo lost control and kissed me, what would have happened if they hadn't interrupted us? The desire was still there after so long, but I could see in his eyes that he was afraid of falling, he had many fears and demons behind him and he didn't know if he would be able to have the patience to wait for him and help him overcome it, especially because he didn't. he let himself be helped.
He couldn't save someone who didn't want to be saved.
He went up the stairs and stuck his head out looking at the top of the attic, then shook his head starting to go down.
"Nothing here," he said, pursing his lips.
I sighed, we had already checked 3 attics and none of them seemed to be enabled. Freddy folded the ladder again and wiped his hands. We were going out when suddenly he grabbed my arm. I turned to look at him. He seemed a little doubtful.
"Celeste, can I ask you a question?" He asked.
"You already do it," I joked, he forced a slight smile.
"Well, another question."
I looked at him waiting for him to continue, he licked his lips and his gray eyes stared at me when he asked:
"You like me?"
I was left breathless, as if I had suddenly been kicked in the chest, my cheeks starting to blush without knowing what to say, I mean, Freddy was sweet, he was attentive, he was... the complete opposite of Angelo, however. , his kisses didn't make me repeat them over and over in my head like I did with his brother.
"I like the way you treat me," I commented.
His face fell a little, evidently it was not the response he expected.
"But you don't like me?" He asked.
I took a deep breath.
"Freddy, we just met," I murmured.
He narrowed his eyes and let me go to cross his arms, then he looked at me raising his chin and said:
"I've seen how you look at Angelo."
I felt my face turn red, but I still didn't admit my secret.
"How do I look at it according to you?" I replied.
"I don't know," he hesitated, "it's another look, one you don't have with me."
I swallowed heavily, he was right, my look was very different with Angelo because he remembered our past very well over and over again.
I pursed my lips and looked at Freddy, he didn't know, he had to know...
I opened my mouth to tell him everything, I wanted him to know who his brother really was and the consequences that occurred due to our actions.
"We..." I started to say, however a scream was heard outside in the hallway and then a commotion.
Freddy and I quickly left only to see one of the nuns face up holding her neck where she was beginning to bleed seriously, beyond her was a woman dressed as a nun with a knife in her hand.
I stopped breathing.
¿Georgette?
