Chapter 306

Chapter 306
Nadia sat alone in a sterilized room with nothing but a single bed.

The research facility staff had removed all potential hazards. Only a thick mattress remained on the metal bed frame.

Even her meals were delivered in disposable foam containers, which were immediately taken away after she finished eating.

For five whole days, no one spoke to her. No one shared news from the outside world.

By the sixth day, Nadia finally broke down. She rushed to the door, gripping the metal bars tightly.

"Call Henry Harding here!" Nadia shouted. "I need to talk to him! Now!"

She thought that after such a demand, Henry would immediately come to see her.

However, she waited and waited, from daylight to darkness, and then from darkness to dawn, without even catching a glimpse of Henry.

Just when she was nearly despairing, James entered her room carrying a document.

"I apologize," James said calmly, "Mr. Harding is occupied with business and simply can't attend to you. I'm here in his place."

He continued: "Before I came, Mr. Harding instructed me: if you cooperate fully, we won't make things difficult for you. At most, you'll go to prison, but we'll spare your life."

Nadia looked at James's smug expression and drew in a sharp breath of anger.

"I don't want to see you! I want to see Henry! I'll only talk when I see him!"

She felt indignant inside. She liked Henry so much—why wouldn't he even spare her a glance?

The smile gradually disappeared from James's face, his expression turning serious. "Who do you think you are? Why should Mr. Harding see you? You don't even understand your position. What right do you have to see Mr. Harding?"

He paused, a cold smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "Ms. Nancy? I'm calling you correctly, aren't I?"

When Henry asked James to investigate Nadia, he searched for a long time but couldn't find any information about her. Later, after following Nadia, he discovered she returned to Nancy's home and finally understood.

Nadia was actually Nancy after plastic surgery!

Nancy had been Isabella's caretaker, following Isabella's every command—to put it bluntly, she was Isabella's dog.

After Isabella was confined at the Harding estate, Nancy completely disappeared. People who knew her said she'd returned to her hometown. Little did they know she had used this time to undergo plastic surgery.

When Nadia heard James call her by her original name, she was shocked, her face suddenly changing color. "How... how did you know? The madam destroyed all my previous records!"

James smiled. "That's irrelevant. Tell me about Catherine's plan while Mr. Harding hasn't yet taken his team to search that private hospital. Think carefully—even if you don't talk, Mr. Harding will see Catherine soon enough."

Nadia looked at James's confident smile, her face growing even paler. She was still making a final struggle: "Henry will never find that place! Don't try to trick me!"

James watched her making futile efforts like a trapped beast. He took out his phone and smiled slightly at her: "I can video call Mr. Harding right now and let you see for yourself if I'm telling the truth."

In the video call, Henry was entering a hospital with his bodyguards.

"Mr. Harding," James said, "Nadia is skeptical about whether you've actually found Ms. Catherine's hiding place." As he spoke, he turned the phone toward Nancy. "Would you please say something to Nadia, sir?"

Henry's expression in the phone grew increasingly cold, with impatience evident even in his eyebrows. "Don't waste words on her! She can talk or not—I don't care!"

Without giving James another chance to speak, Henry hung up immediately. New York had many hospitals, both large and small. He had already had his people eliminate over a hundred, with more than fifty hospitals still to be checked.

This required enormous manpower, resources, finances, and energy. To get Nadia to quickly reveal Catherine and her daughter's hideout, Henry chose to cooperate with James, deliberately putting on this show in front of Nadia.

Of course, even without Nadia's help, he could find Catherine and her daughter's hiding place.

It would just... take more time.

When Nadia saw the hospital backdrop behind Henry, she was already terrified, instinctively believing they were about to find Catherine and her daughter. If she didn't talk now, she might spend the rest of her life in prison. She anxiously said: "I'll talk! I'll tell you everything I know!"

James crossed his arms and smiled at her: "That depends on whether what you say is useful. If you're just talking nonsense, no one can save you!"

Seeing that the negotiation wasn't working and James remained unmoved, Nadia tried a different approach: "How about this—I'll tell you the truth about old Mr. Harding's death. Would that work?"

James was inwardly suspicious. People like Nadia never told the truth. He didn't even look at her but instead activated his phone's recording function, pretending to casually play with his phone.

Seeing that he wasn't interested even in this, and fearing that Henry had already found Catherine and her daughter, Nadia hurriedly said: "Old Mr. Harding was actually killed by Sophia! She was the one who entered his hospital room that night! However, she had been injected with an illegal drug by Catherine and couldn't control her actions! I know who manufactures this drug!"

When Henry led his team into the central hospital's inpatient department, he keenly spotted a figure.

Since this was a hospital with many people coming and going, he didn't act immediately but signaled his bodyguards to quietly capture the person. Four bodyguards understood immediately and pretended to head to the restroom, changing their direction.

Scarlett had come to deliver things to Catherine.

She cooked and delivered meals to the mother and daughter daily, always disguising herself when entering the hospital to avoid crowds. Due to the hot weather, she hadn't worn a hat today, and Henry recognized her immediately.

By the time she sensed something was wrong, she had already been pinned to the ground by Harding's bodyguards. When she saw it was Harding's security team, she immediately tried to shout: "Help—" but was silenced before she could finish.

The bodyguards took her to an empty room as quickly and discreetly as possible, only then releasing her mouth. The moment Scarlett saw Harding's bodyguards, she knew: it was over!

"No! Don't kill me! I'll tell you everything!" she cried in panic. "Catherine forced me to do this. She promised me money, lots and lots of money! They hate Sophia, and I hate Sophia too, so I joined them."

"Sophia may be my daughter, but she's not my biological child. I raised her for so many years. She has money but won't share it with me and told me to stay away from her. How could I not be angry?" Before Henry could even ask her a question, Scarlett had already spilled everything she knew.

Henry was unaware that Sophia wasn't Scarlett's biological daughter. After hearing this, he became suddenly interested: "Tell me, whose child is she? And how did she become your daughter?"

Scarlett was well aware of Mr. Harding's methods. So, the moment she saw Henry, without him even asking, she confessed everything she knew. She also clearly explained Sophia's background:

"I don't know whose child she is," she explained. "Back then, I couldn't have children, and my dead-beat husband pushed all the blame onto me. To avoid being criticized by the whole family, I pretended to be pregnant. When it was almost time to deliver, I found someone who brought me a baby, gave her some money, and Sophia became my child. I know it was wrong and illegal, but I had no choice! To survive, I had to do it."

Henry's gaze instantly filled with even more disgust.

He didn't bother talking to her further, called in two bodyguards, and had them watch her write down what had happened back then. He himself walked out, heading straight for Isabella's hospital room.

In the hospital room, Catherine was wiping Isabella's body. After this period of treatment, Isabella's condition had improved significantly, with the swelling gone and having lost considerable weight.

Looking at her daughter's beautiful appearance, Catherine couldn't help but praise her: "Isabella is so beautiful, worthy of being my daughter! With your current looks, even with your notorious reputation, mom can still find you a good husband!"

Isabella shook her head at her mother's words: "No! I won't marry anyone! I just want to destroy Henry!"

Suddenly, Harding's bodyguards and police streamed in, and soon the small hospital room was filled with people. Isabella, who had been angry just moments before, was stunned at the sight of so many people.

"What... what are you doing? This is a hospital room. Who authorized you to enter?" she questioned, her voice trembling slightly.

Henry emerged from the crowd, coldly looking at Isabella on the hospital bed, and said unhurriedly: "I did!"
