Chapter 95 A different Akira

Chapter 95 A different Akira
VINCENT

So many thoughts rummaged my head as I placed the little knife in my belt, walking over to the opposite side of the road.

It was not too late to turn back, I knew that. I could have asked one of the men to do it for me, but I was no fool. I knew their loyalty laid with Bryan and I will be dead before I even attempt to stab a toothpick through her heart.

I spotted her car the moment I entered the garage and within a few minutes, I was in.

I blended with the darkness, face covered as I waited patiently, acting like this was my first kill.

Then I heard the footsteps, precise and soft.

Adrenaline surged through my body as she sat down and attempted to start the car.

My hands moved before me, too used to this routine movement to be stopped by mere fear.

The knife wrapped around her neck and my heart quelled.

" Don't even think about starting that car" I said, voice modulator activated. I was not willing to take chances.

From the mirror, even though it was dark, I could see her lips curl into a smile as has adjusted the mirror to stare at me.

Wait....a smile?

" Akira does put up with a lot of shit doesn't she? That is why small fries like you have the guts to crawl into her car and press a knife to our neck"

Wait..Akira?

My eyes glared at the mirror again in confusion. It was Akira, but this person was different.

Her eyes shone like she enjoyed the thrill, her compusure was too relaxed for someone who had a knife pressed to their throat.

" Start the car and follow the directions I give you slowly" I said, refusing to abandon the plan because of her weird behavior.

She leaned into the knife, knowingly creating a small dent on her neck, leaving me shrieking in confusion.

" No" she said simply.

Now I was flustered.

" What? No? Are you sick?! Do you think I won't hurt you?" I asked, desperate to instill some sort of fear into her because it was obvious that this woman, wasn't scared.

" I mean, I don't really care if you stab me. Personally I'm curious about what I would look like with blood trickling down my neck. I just request you give me a mirror so I can see before I die".

Something was not right.

I withdrew the knife, my body bucking as I made to run.

Maybe she knew who I was. Maybe that was why she was so cocky, maybe Bryan has this car surrounded now, maybe....

" What? Are you giving up on your assassination mission so easily? Are you a newbie or something?"

I got out of the car, sweat building between my chin as I rushed away, the fear that Bryan was somewhere lurking sending me spiraling.

I could not rest even after I got back to my hotel room. I still felt the wave of displeasure hit me, the feeling of being watched almost too uncomfortable to bear.

That was not Akira.

The ring tone of my phone startled me, causing me to jump, the knife still in my hands.

" Did you kill her?".

I pressed my eyes shut firmly.

"I couldn't." I said simply.

" What the hell? That was such a good plan. Why couldn't you?"

My jaw ticked in frustration.

" Please! Okay? Let me think. I will call you later."

The shower did no good, the food tasted like cardboard and I could still hear her iridescent laughter in my ears when I pulled out that knife.

I could not bear it any longer. I was going to see him.

His house seemed to loom over me in the darkness as I stared at the woman who had pulled the door open for me.

" Is Bryan at home?" I asked the little nanny.

She adjusted the broom in her hands, a small smile on her face.

" Yes, Master is currently in his study. Please let me take you to him"

Each step I took, the ground seemed to clench at me feet, unyielding.

His hands were in a flurry all over the table when I got in.

" Thank God you are here..I just got a call from Akira now and she said someone attempted to kill her. I'm heading to the police station to see her for myself"

I blinked furiously.

" Oh...she could not identify who it was right?"

Finally, he looked up to stare at me.

" She says he had a voice modulator on. She could not understand anything. But I'm sure when we get there she should have figured something about him to use to track him"

" I should come" I said almost immediately, shocking even myself.

He stood straight, grabbing his car keys.

" Are you sure you are okay?" He asked again.

I nodded, trailing after him, avoiding his eyes. I had to see...

~~

The police department was in a flurry when we stepped in. I could not figure out if it was because of the presence of Akira, who is now known to be a celebrity model, or if it was the feeling that dawned when Bryan stepped in, eyes blazing.

I noticed how their hands slid on each other like glue, almost magnetic. They were definitely official now.

" So who do you think it is?"

" I don't know, definitely that dickward Leon. I just knew he would send some one pathetic to kill me"

I stared at Akira, trying to figure out what was up with her. She was not right.

" Hey Akira" I said, giving a small wave, wanting to see if she had even a clue.

She sighed stepping closer and pulling me into a hug that ended almost abruptly.

She smiled at me, causing a shiver to run down my spine as she leaned in.

" You should have changed your cologne. I know a limited edition cologne when I smell one and you smell exactly like the knife placed on my neck today" she whispered.

Bryan was out of earshot, but my body stilled.

Who was this woman?

She stared at my face and broke into a smirk.

" That was just speculation but from the look on your face, I can tell it actually was you."
