Curator’s Note
This catalog closes with a reminder: every exhibit is incomplete.
What is shown here is only a fraction, a glimpse, a reconstruction assembled from fractured records, inconsistent testimonies, and works of uncertain provenance. The museum disavows any guarantee of truth. It is possible that the names mentioned—Edward Langford, Vivienne Langford, Emeline, Detective Marlowe—were real. It is equally possible they were inventions, sketches mistaken for lives.
The archives are damaged. Some documents were lost in the transfer. Others were deliberately removed. A handful remain sealed, inaccessible to staff or visitor alike.
You will, therefore, encounter contradictions. A figure disappears, then returns. A voice insists, then falters. Paintings shift in attribution. A corridor that should end does not.
We advise you to resist the impulse to resolve these tensions. The museum was not built to provide answers, but to house questions.
If, as you depart, you believe you have seen someone lingering in the upper windows, or heard a voice call from the stairwell—please note this in the visitor ledger. Your account will be added to the collection.
The Endless Exhibit remains open.
