Embrace the light (clairvoyant)-Chapter 26. Explaining Him

"Right, so let see..." she was back with a big dusty ancient-looking book on her hand. She starts opening the book and flipped through some old looking manuscripts that looked like it was bound manually by hand.

"I need the name of your guardian." She stated, while her eyes were still busy skimming through the pages.

"Arkael."

She stopped her movement and slowly look up at me, her eyes wandered from mine then to Walter, then to mine again.

"What?" I asked her curiously, she opened her mouth as to speak her words but then she looked at both of us for the second time.

"He's the dark one, he had been ruling the dark side keeping peace within the dark kingdom for hundreds of years. Damn Florence... I... I honestly don't know what he would want from you, other than to tell you what I know of him. He's a very dangerous demon, he has very strong dark power, he could snap each and every one of us like a twig with just one click of his fingers." She told us, while she quickly flipped a couple of pages, then showed us the book.

The illustration was on point, his dark long cloak that hides all of his features, nothing was visible but his dark and dangerous aura that surrounds him. I shivered as I was taken back to our first meet when I was a kid, and when everything started.

"He was there when I was eight and almost drown, since then he would pop up every time I get myself in trouble." I looked at her, waiting for more of her explanation.

Then she showed us the wording under his illustration, King of Darkness. I felt rushed of coldness running through me, it made me reach for Walter as he wrapped me in his arm, rubbing my shoulder and giving me the warmth that I needed.

"I need to ask my elders, this is way beyond my knowledge." She got up and reached above her kitchen cabinets, and retrieved some candles, then she closes all the shades and curtains making the room dimmer for her needs.

Walter and I sat in silence in front of her as she does her thing, minutes went by as she communicates with her elders then the candles unexpectedly are blown out by a gust of wind, darkness surrounds us immediately. Walter grabbed my hand immediately, assuring me that I was safe, that he was next to me.

Then the darkness suddenly became pitch black, it was still morning, but it felt like the night was surrounding us. The drop in temperature signaled his arrival. I could sense him already by now.

"Arkael," Shani called out his name.

"You..." Though I couldn't see his eyes, I could feel that he was giving me the look, I could feel that he was accusing me of calling him to us. I shook my head to him and nudge him to Shani, then he looks at her and growled, making the small cottage shook as if a storm was passing through the house.

Walter was gripping my hands tighter, he was tense and ready to get up and protect me. But somehow I know that I was, that we were safe, that Arkael would not hurt us. I put my other hand above Walter's signaling him to stay still and waited for Shani.

He was in front of her seconds later, he lightly picked her up, forcing her to stand up. We were tense, I tried to get up but Shani was shaking her head and saying don't to Walter and me.

We reluctantly stay on our seats, but my heart was beating fast, my adrenaline was pumping, I was scared for her life, Walter was looking at me like he was ready to jump but he was trying so hard to stay still, while Shani was easily lifted up by Arkael.

We both feared for her life, but she seemed brave enough as she calmly communicates silently with him. And both Walt and I finally gasped, when Arkael touches her with his long fingers, and slowly that blackened long rotten looking fingers turned human-like.

It was changing its color to pale but at the same time tan brute looking like a Viking hand. He slowly touched her face, then retreated back into his darkness, but not before he claimed Shani as his.

"MINE." He growled while he looked like he was still shocked by his previous changes. He was back into his darkness, while his hands were back to its hideous rotten looking features as before.

We all sighed when the night surroundings slowly fade into a dark morning light wrapped under closed curtains and blinds. And then suddenly the candles lit up, just like nothing had happened to it.

Damn... she got some guts!

"It's a very long explanation Florence, Woah... looks like he had drained me." Shani started her talk and was about to get up when she seated herself back down to her seat as her feet wobble under her.

"Walt baby, can you help her? I'm going to make us another batch of tea. Just stay there Shani, we got you." I told her as I get up and go to the kitchen to boil some hot water for the tea, then I open all the curtains and blinds and let the sunshine back in her cozy kitchen.

Minutes later we were seating back in our seats after I helped Shani and refilled our teas. She was looking better after Walter channeled his energy to her. Shani was drinking her tea, as we waited patiently for her explanation.

"I'm still not sure, what just happened earlier. His energy and his darkness, damn woman... you got some serious guardian." She told us while taking another sip of her tea.

"The elders told me nothing, except that he's a fair ruler. They were also baffled as to why he would graciously appear to us mortals. Though they said he had some kind of interest on you, they're still not giving me a straight answer. I'm guessing that they didn't want to mess with destiny." She looked at both of us then relax back to the chair.

"That is all I can give you, for now, I do believe that he's not a threat to you. Maybe to me, but not to you." She let out a nervous laugh.

"What, are you sure? Are you saying that you're in danger because we're seeking answers about him? Oh my god, Walter do something!" I tugged him in panic, making her smile at me.

"Oh... Walter she's so adorable. Florence, this is my job. I've handled the worse encounter. For a king of darkness, he's far more behaved, though I wouldn't stand a chance with him, it's nice to appear to be brave and call out his bluff." She winked at me and refilled out tea.

We left her place half an hour later, we discussed everything about him stated in the big book, but deep down I know that there was something that she was not telling us. Something that she kept for herself.
