Chapter 297 Tried to turn Ginny Lycan

Chapter 297 Tried to turn Ginny Lycan
The Twisted Logic

Leela slipped her phone back into her pocket, giving Sarah one last, fiercely reassuring nod before quietly opening the heavy wooden door. She stepped back into the tense, suffocating atmosphere of the doctor's office, immediately returning to Ginny’s side.

The wait for Iggy’s accelerated blood work felt like an absolute eternity. Jax paced the short length of the room, his massive frame practically vibrating with restless, protective energy, while Ginny sat rigid, clutching the sleeping newborn to her chest.

When Dr. Chatmory finally walked back into the room holding a fresh printout, his expression was tight and unreadable. The entire room seemed to hold its breath.

The doctor looked immediately at Ginny, offering a comforting but visibly strained smile. "Physically, right at this exact moment, his vitals are strong. But... I cannot give you a completely clean bill of health."

Ginny let out a choked, watery gasp, burying her face against the top of Iggy's blanket as a fresh wave of terror washed over her. Jax stopped his pacing instantly. He stepped to her side, dropping a heavy, grounding hand onto his mate's shoulder while fixing the doctor with a piercing, golden glare.

"Explain," Jax demanded, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.

"There are residuals in Iggy's blood," Dr. Chatmory explained, his tone shifting into a careful, clinical seriousness as he sat behind his desk. "Trace amounts of the synthetic serum Magda was injecting into Ginny crossed the placental barrier. We know it essentially acted as a massive, supercharged growth hormone—which explains exactly why he is nine pounds despite being born nearly two months premature—but beyond that? We have absolutely no idea what this stuff actually is or what it was engineered to do long-term."

Jax frowned, his golden eyes narrowing. "You don't know what it is?"

"It's a completely foreign, synthetic compound," Dr. Chatmory clarified, tapping the lab results with his pen. "Without Damon's original research files, we are flying blind."

Leela nodded slowly, her stomach dropping as she processed the medical reality. "So the danger hasn't passed? It's not out of his system?"

"Not entirely," the doctor sighed heavily. "His natural Lycan biology is fighting it, but there are still active traces remaining in his bloodstream. Because we don't know what this chemical cocktail was designed to do to a Lycan infant, we are going to have to monitor Iggy very, very closely for a while. We need to keep strict track of his milestones to ensure it doesn't cause any unforeseen, underlying reactions as he grows."

Dr. Chatmory took off his glasses, rubbing his eyes with a heavy sigh before looking back at the young human mother.

"As for you, Ginny... looking at the chemical markers it left behind in your system, I am absolutely certain Damon was trying to forcibly mutate your DNA. He was trying to make you a werewolf. Though, for the life of me, I cannot fathom why he would take such a massive, reckless, and highly illegal risk to do so."

A dark, incredibly dangerous silence settled over the room.

Jax’s jaw ticked. A flash of profound, agonizing betrayal crossed the towering Beta's face as the final, twisted piece of his father's sick puzzle violently snapped into place. Up until just a few days ago, he and Fennigan had loved their father. They had spent their entire lives looking up to Damon, believing he was a noble King and a good dad. It was only when Damon had violently dragged Leela into the underground bunker that the horrifying, evil truth of his nature had finally been dragged into the light.

"I do," Jax said, his voice dropping into a lethal, vibrating rumble that was thick with the sickening realization of who his father truly was.

Ginny looked up at him, her tear-stained eyes wide with confusion. "Jax? Why would he do this to me?"

"Because of the High Council," Jax growled, his golden eyes flashing as he reevaluated everything his father had ever done through this horrifying new lens. "We don't formally present our mates to them or anything like that. The Council is just a governing body sitting in the capital, trying to rule and control everyone. And while there is no official law written down anywhere forbidding human and Lycan matings, everyone in our world just knows that they heavily frown upon it. They are ancient, pureblood elitists, and they view human mates as a dilution of the bloodline."

Jax stepped closer to Ginny, his heavily scarred hand gently cupping the side of her pale face.

"We thought he was a good man," Jax murmured, his chest heaving with a mix of grief and blinding rage. "But looking back now... everything he did was completely obsessed with his political standing and keeping control. If the High Council had found out that my mate was a human, it would have been different. It would have been a massive political vulnerability for him—a weakness the Council could exploit to try and tighten their leash on our family."

Leela's elemental eyes darkened as she realized the sheer, sickening depths of the dead alpha's arrogance. "So he tried to force her body to changeto a wolf before anyone could find out."

"Exactly," Jax confirmed, a vicious sneer pulling at his lips. "He thought if he could successfully use Magda to turn Ginny into a Lycan before the Council ever caught wind of her true nature, his human problem would just magically disappear. He was trying to secretly mutate her just to protect his own political reputation."

"We found studies where he tried to turn regular wolves, but to think he endangered my wife, my child. And for what? His own morbid curiosity? His own search for power? The most fucked part about it is he's dead and I can't kill him all over again." Jax was clenching his fists and let out little powerful puffs of breath through his nose. "He couldn't get what he wanted out of me and Fenn so he decided to test on my mate."
