Chapter 194 Aurora’s Younger Sibling

Chapter 194 Aurora’s Younger Sibling
Elara’s POV

“The Void Empress is here!” Guards burst into our bedroom. “She’s demanding the unborn baby! Now!”
I grabbed my stomach protectively. Only two months pregnant. Too early. Too vulnerable.
“Tell her no,” Drakon growled, shifting to dragon.
“She’s not asking. She’s taking.” The guard’s eyes flickered void-red. Possessed. “Give us the baby or we kill everyone in the castle.”
Aurora appeared. Placed herself between the possessed guard and me. “You can’t have my sibling. Ever.”
“Aurora, get back...”
“No, Mama. This is my brother or sister. My family. My responsibility.” Her eyes blazed silver. “And I protect my family.”
She released power. Not attacking. Just… pushing. The void corruption expelled from the guard.
He collapsed, free. Gasping. “Sorry, Your Majesty. She controlled me. Said she’d kill my children if I didn’t...”
“It’s okay.” Aurora helped him up. “She’s gone now. I pushed her out. She can’t use you again.”
Over the next months, Aurora became fiercely protective. She checked on me constantly. Used her power to strengthen the baby. Chased away any void-touched threats.
“You’re taking this big sister thing seriously,” Drakon observed.
“This baby is special. The first natural convergence child. Proof that balance is normal. I have to protect that. Protect them.”
She was also adorably helpful. Reading pregnancy books. Preparing the nursery. Practicing holding babies with dolls.
“What if I drop them?” she worried.
“You won’t. You’re amazing.” I watched her carefully arrange tiny clothes. “The baby’s lucky to have you.”
“I’m lucky to have them. A sibling. Someone who’ll understand what it’s like being different.”
“They might not be convergence. Might be fully human or fully dragon.”
“Doesn’t matter. They’re family. That’s what counts.”
The pregnancy progressed beautifully. No more complications. Just steady, healthy growth.
“Boy or girl?” people asked.
“Don’t know. Don’t care. Just want healthy,” I answered.
But Aurora knew. “It’s a boy, Mama. I can sense it. Strong. Powerful. More dragon than me. Gonna be Papa’s mini-me.”
“How do you know?”
“I talk to him. Through the connection. He responds. Shows me his thoughts. His feelings. His dragon heart.”
I touched my stomach. “What does he say?”
“That he can’t wait to meet me. That he’s going to be the best little brother ever. That he already loves us.” She smiled. “And that he’s coming soon. Sooner than expected.”
“What? I have four more months!”
“Not according to him. He’s growing fast. Really fast. Dragon babies accelerate when they sense danger. He knows the Void Empress is hunting him. So he’s hurrying. Trying to be born strong enough to defend himself.”
Terror filled me. “Aurora, he can’t come early. He’ll die. He’s too small..."
“He won’t be small. Trust me.” She placed her hands on my stomach. Concentrated. “Yeah. He’s already the size of a six-month baby. Growing exponentially. Mama, you’re going into labor in three days.”
“WHAT?!”
“Maybe less. He’s really determined.”
The healers confirmed it. The baby was massive. Accelerating. Coming soon.
“This is unprecedented,” the head healer said. “Dragon-human hybrid pregnancies don’t work like this. But convergence magic changes everything. He’s literally forcing his own development. Making himself strong enough to survive the threats.”
“Can I carry him safely?”
“If Aurora keeps stabilizing him. And if we prepare for early delivery. And if nothing goes catastrophically wrong.”
Nothing went catastrophically wrong.
For two days.
Then labor started. Sudden. Violent. Unstoppable.
“It’s time!” I screamed. “The baby’s coming NOW!”
Aurora ran to me. “I’ve got you, Mama. We’ll do this together.”
Drakon carried me to the birthing room. Healers scrambled. Everything rushed. Chaotic. Terrifying.
“Too fast!” a healer protested. “We’re not ready!”
“The baby doesn’t care!” Aurora snapped. “He’s coming whether we’re ready or not!”
Labor was brutal. Worse than Aurora’s birth. This baby was bigger. Stronger. More dragon.
“Push!” healers commanded.
I pushed. Screamed. Pushed again.
“I see the head!” someone announced. “He’s crowning!”
“Wings!” another gasped. “He has wings already! Fully formed! How is that possible?”
“Because he’s special!” Aurora said proudly. “Like I said! Mini Papa!”
One final push.
The baby emerged. Screaming. Strong. Covered in tiny black scales.
“It’s a boy!” the healer announced. “Healthy! Perfect! Incredibly powerful!”
They placed him in my arms. He was beautiful. Golden eyes like Drakon. Dark scales. Small wings tucked against his back. Dragon features much more prominent than Aurora’s.
“Hello, little one,” I whispered. “Welcome to the family.”
He opened his eyes. Looked right at me. And smiled.
“He’s perfect,” Drakon breathed, touching his son’s tiny clawed hand.
“What do we name him?” Aurora asked.
“Ember,” I decided. “For the fire in his eyes. And Nightstone. Combining Moonstone and dragon darkness. Ember Nightstone.”
“Perfect,” Aurora agreed. She looked at her baby brother adoringly. “Hi, Ember. I’m your big sister. I’m going to protect you forever.”
Ember grabbed her finger. Squeezed with surprising strength.
And in that moment, our family felt complete.
But as everyone celebrated, I noticed something.
Ember’s scales. They weren’t just black. They were shifting. Black to gold. Gold to purple. Purple to black.
Just like Aurora’s eyes shifted. Showing which magic was dominant.
“He’s changing colors,” I said. “Why?”
The healer examined him. Her face went pale. “Because he’s not just dragon-human hybrid. He’s active convergence. From birth. Light and void already battling inside him. Already forcing him to choose sides.”
“He’s a baby! He can’t choose!”
“Then one side will win. Probably void. It’s stronger in newborns. Less controlled.” She looked at me with terrified eyes. “Your Majesty, in approximately six hours, if we don’t intervene, your son will become pure void. A dark creature. Irreversibly evil. From infancy.”
“NO!” Aurora grabbed Ember. “I’ll stabilize him! Like I did in the womb!”
“It won’t work. He’s born now. Outside your direct influence. The convergence is his to resolve. Not yours.”
“Then he’ll resolve it!” I grabbed my hours-old son. “Ember, listen to Mama. Choose light. Choose balance. Choose BOTH. Like Aurora did. Please.”
Ember just cried. A normal baby cry. Unaware of the war inside him.
The scales continued shifting. Faster now. Black. Gold. Purple. Black.
Settling more and more on black.
On void.
On darkness.
We had six hours to save our newborn son from becoming a monster.
Six hours to teach an infant something Aurora took years to learn.
Six hours to find a miracle.
Starting now.
