Chapter 205 Chapter 0205
AERITH'S POV

"You are choosing me," he whispered, wrapping his arms around me.

"I will always choose you," I whispered, then my fingers tightened more around him. "I thought I had lost you."

"So did I." For a moment we stayed like that, like nothing else mattered, like we didn't just get the worst news of our life. When he pulled away, he reached for my wrist. "Let's go." He whispered.

"You can't take her!" Jael who had been quiet ever since screamed, I turned to look at her, her eyes had changed, she was shifting, before I could say a word, her wolf burst through her, and she lunged, towards us, but Lucien didn't even move, his magic exploded, the air shook, Jael froze in midair, every movement stopped, her body remained suspended as though time itself had trapped her, Lucien looked at her

"Wanting to touch what is mine, is your biggest mistake." He scoffed as he turned away and held my hands. "Let's go." He whispered. I gave him my hands. Silas didn't say a word; he didn't even try to stop me. Maybe, because he knows Lucien is more important to me than him

"Lucien!" Aria called. He stopped, but he didn't look at her, and he didn't let go of my hands. "Son!" She called but he interrupted her.

"Don't call me that." His voice was cold. Aria's face crumpled. "You are not my mother."

"No!" She shook her head desperately. "Please, son, you can't do this to your mother." Lucien finally turned to her.

"From this day forward, you are no longer my mother."

"Lucien, son!"

"You lost that right when you hid my true identity from me," he pulled me closer, "and when you tried to kill my mate with that traitor." Aria's face twisted.

"You will not take my son away from me!" She screamed, reached for her dagger, and my eyes widened. "Aerith!" She screamed and threw the dagger at me, the blade flew straight toward me, everything happened at once that I didn't think of my magic, Lucien turned, shielding me with his body, but another figure moved faster, it was Silas, he stepped between us, and the dagger struck him, for the second time, he took a dagger for me.

"Father!" Lucien's scream echoed through the room. Silas staggered; blood spread across his chest. He looked down at the blade, then slowly looked at Aria.

"I curse the day I set eyes on you." King Silas snarled. This time, his knees buckled, but he didn't fall to the ground; he supported himself on one knee. Aria laughed.

"What did you think, that your words were new to me?" Her eyes filled with madness. "You always come to me when you need me; that is the reason. I killed the one thing you love." Silas's eyes snapped to her. "I killed Valerie." My body went cold. Lucien stared at his mother.

"What did you just say?" My voice came out more like a whisper.

"You heard me right. I killed your mother," Aria's voice trembled with rage. "Not because she did found out that I was having an affair with the king's brother, even after giving birth to Lucien, but because she said she was falling for the king." Silas looked at her.

"Valerie was..." Silas's voice died off, Aria smiled,

"Yes, she told me, she was falling in love with you and was willing to forgive you, for everything, that you did to her," she laughed bitterly, "I told her it was the mate bond, that was making her feel that way, but she said, she already rejected you, that it wasn’t the bond. That she loves you." Silas froze.

"She..." His voice was barely audible. "Valerie loves me?"

"Yes," Aria's expression twisted. "She loved you,' Silas stared at Aria. "I don't know how you made her fall in love with you, but she was going to tell you everything that day." his breathing became uneven. "She was going to tell you that she loved you," Aria laughed bitterly, "and that she had a daughter for you." Silas tried to stand, but he staggered backward, his hand pressed against his bleeding chest, blood slipped between his fingers.

"So?" His voice broke. "What did you do to her?"

"I poison her," I stared at her, my tears welled up my eyes, making my vision blur, "then I drove a dagger to her chest," she looked at Silas, "I made it look like suicide," Silas face turned pale, "and I do not regret killing her," I watched her in silence, not been able to say a word, "if ever she awakened," Aria's expression hardened, "I would still not let her live because she is stupid to fall in love with a man who rape her, I will..." Something inside Lucien snapped.

"Enough!" He drew his sword,

"Lucien!" I grabbed his arms; Aria laughed.

"I will kill her again, because she is a worthless piece of shit!"

"Ah!" Lucien screamed as he pulled free from me, he moved so fast that I barely saw him, one strike, Aria's head fell to the ground, blood splashed across Lucien’s face, the room became silent, he stood there frozen, and his sword slipped from his hand, then he began crying, not a quiet one, not like a warrior, or a prince, but like a son who had just lost the last piece of his childhood, I felt his pain, he just kill his mother. Now I realize why it was difficult for him to promise me that he would slay his family if they were responsible for my mother's death. I walked slowly to him; before I could reach him, the drums of war began beating again, and my heart crashed. Will we ever be without trouble? Silas looked towards the doorway.

"You have to go." his knees buckled; I rushed toward him.

"Father," the word escaped my lips before I could stop it. Silas looked at me, his eyes filled with tears.

"What did you just call me?” he whispered while I knelt beside him.

"Father," the words left my lips effortlessly this time. He smiled while he touched my cheek; his bloody fingers trembled, then he leaned forward and kissed my hair.

"Forgive me," he began crying. "I wasn't a good mate to your mother." his voice broke. "And I wasn’t a good father to you."

"No,” I shook my head. "You didn't know."

"I should have," his tears fell onto my hair. "I should have protected her, been patient with her, not killed the man she loved, and forced myself on her." He coughed badly. "I should have protected you as well." Another war drum sounded; he pushed me to Lucien. "You have to go. Leave," his words were weak.

"What about you, father?" Lucien said, Silas smiled faintly.

"You still call this monster that?" Lucien's eyes filled with tears.

"What should I call you, king?" Silas had a weak laugh.

"You know, those times, you call me father and I get irritated,"

"It's because I am not your son, and you hated that I called you that," Lucien finished for him. "So I understand that. For now, keep your hatred for me aside. Let's go." I looked at Lucien; he had a heart of gold. He still cared about the man who didn't care about him. Silas's tears fell.

"You still care about this monster who didn't treat you right?" Lucien shook his head.

"You are not a monster," Lucien said, Silas sighed, looking at him. "You are only angry because you felt betrayed. If I were in your shoes, I would do the same, seeing the face of the man who was a product of my wife's betrayal.”

“That wasn’t a good enough reason for my actions.” Silas coughed badly

“Still, you didn’t throw me out, and you just saved me." Lucien smiled weakly, then his tears fell. " But don't tell me you saved me, because I am your daughter's mate." Silas shook his head.

"I saved you because you are my son. I may not have treated you like a son, but I love you. I always wish that you were my son, not that asshole son, and I didn't want you to die, even when you are the son of the man I hated the most on earth.” Silas’s eyes filled with tears. For a moment, the two simply looked at each other. Then Silas pulled a ring from his finger, the ring of authority, and placed it in Lucien's palm. Lucien stared at it.

"What are you doing?"

"You are the next dragon king." Lucien stared at him in surprise. “With the power bestowed on me, as the dragon king of the Darkhold Kingdom, I pronounce you my successor.” Lucien's eyes widened, then he shook his head.

"What about Drayen, he is the heir?"

"He is not destined to rule after me."

"And Drayce, he is more worthy to be king than any of us." Silas smiled.

"Tell him," he coughed, "tell him, I love him." Lucien's closed his fingers around the ring.

"I will but..."

"You have to go," Silas's voice cut him off, then he looked toward the doorway. "The Faeries will be here soon." I shook my head.

"I can't leave without you."

"I will be fine,"

"You are bleeding," he said, Silas smiling weakly

"I had survived worse," I knew he was lying, but I also knew there was no time, Lucien grabbed my hand, I didn't want to leave him, after I had just learned he was my father and he regretted everything he had done to my mother, and my mother had forgiven him before she died. "Go," Silas whispered, "take care of my daughter." Lucien nodded as he led me toward the door. I looked back one last time. Silas smiled at me. My father. I really have a father, for the first time in my life. I know how that word felt. Then Lucien pulled me outside. The moment we crossed the doorway, I stopped and turned around. I raised both hands; magic exploded from my body. A golden barrier formed around the room.

"No one will enter." Lucien looked at me

"Aerith!" I wiped my tears.

"You will wait for me, father." My voice shook, "No one is going to kill you," The spell straightened, "I don't care who comes," I looked at Silas through the glowing barrier, "You will wait for me" I turned toward Lucien, the drums of war were growing louder, the kingdom was still under attack, Lucien tightened his grip around my hand.

"We have to go." I nodded. I turned. I took one final glance at him before turning my gaze away, before Lucien and I started running. I knew this time I was going to fight against my people, even if it meant killing them to save Lucien; then I would not hesitate. I hope my nana will forgive me

"Running away already?"
