We’d gotten out the car. The driver and his partner bowed one last time before they got back to his post. I had a fox fur coat from the dragons as well… overkill, but it was -15F today…. But it also felt… strange to Wear the skin of another creature that had fur, animal or not…

“How many portals did we go through?” I asked walking in the white marbled castle, and the carpets were all gold… It seems the royal colors, even though Saiyatok was copper, were gold and white. I also wouldn’t mention the fur thing. It might have been taken poorly by the overly serious, overprotective staff.

“12 my Lady.” Bowed Andy, coming from inside the grand castle. He’d beat us to the castle, and when the grand white double doors opened, I was impressed…

“Really?” I said looking around.

The white walls held old fashioned, polished brass sconces that still held fire, though the main lighting was the ceiling. Above was an artificial sky. The gold carpet under my feat went to a double spiral staircase… This palace was at least 10 stories tall.

This castle was at least twice as big as grandfather, the wolf King’s…. I wondered did he ever visit here before he slept… I wouldn’t think about my family too much. It would ruin my time here…

Omegas polished the stone walls and floors, while it seemed the head butler came and bowed.

“Good morning your highnesses. Your breakfast of caribou omelet is ready.” He bowed. He was a brown haired Omega, meaning he was likely born one, unlike the rebels who retained their colors, but lost their powers.

We followed him as he walked, and he gave us information on the castle. “His late majesty, King Saiyatok, had this place commissioned a thousand years after the War. He lived here, and housed 25 consorts at any given time.” He said shaking his head. “The castle holds its original stone, mined from a small portion of granite touched by the border of the In-Between. It looks like marble, however, this solid white granite is so rare, that the Goblin King Hadeon offered the king 4 billion for the castle. It was denied… because he meant to dismantle this original building.” He said seriously.

We asked him no questions, as he took us to a grand dining room… the table top was a polished… gold? The legs were dark wood, and the long carpet underneath was also gold… though the statues that lined the walls were of not only dragons, but the other Kings. They depicted their greatest scenes.

It seemed almost to have a nostalgic theme to it. All of those kings were Saiyatok’s friends…. They all looked triumphant, slaying some Old One or another, in hunting poses you’d see in old mortal photographs… yet now… most of the original kings slept, or stayed awake for their mate’s sakes.

We sat together at the head of the table. It was wide enough for two seats next to each other, while it went on for at least 20 feet.

“A little overkill on the scenery don’t you think?” I grinned.

“Yeah, but Taste this!” He said cutting a large slice. It seemed the servants also had other roasted meat, eggs, bacon, and almost clear, white wine on the table… He excitedly stuffed the meat into my mouth, and I had to sip said wine to help it go down… He wanted to be romantic So badly….

“This wine is…. Very alcoholic.” I commented.

“It tastes like fruit juice.” Said Aureus, stuffing his face. His stomach was empty after all…. And I hadn’t had anything since the dinner flight tray.

“Our house brew is 181 proof my lady, we call it Fire Brand Reserve.” He smiled. “Despite the intense cold here, the fire grapes’ magic is so intense, that they grow year round.”

…. This was like 4 shots in a glass so wide….. and my mate asked for another glass. I let him have mine.

“I… I don’t want to be drunk First thing in the morning.”

“I Do.” Sang the Dragon King…. I shook my head.

“Do you have a mimosa?” I asked.

“We can make it with an ounce of Fire Brand Reserve. If you would like, we can also have virgin orange juice for the table.” He said turning and walking after I nodded.

“Slush.” I said with a smile.

“I get to eat All I want and Drink until I pop. I am going to enjoy this.” He grinned. “After this, would you like to feed the koi-serpents? Oh, or we could get a massage… ski down the manmade slope in the back?”

“I want to do all those things… and shift.” I smiled.

I for lack of self-control… kind of wanted to literally go roll around out there. It was so fluffy looking… plus this was Better than any date… We had a chance to Actually relax.

“Here. Take these.” He said to the butler when he came back. He took our phones. “Put these in my office.”

“Of course, your majesty.” He bowed and left.

He ate until he looked stuffed… and I had to admit I think I had a new favorite meat. It Was elk… those guys were everywhere…. But Cariboo… they were definitely delicious.

When we finished, nothing was left. But as soon as I put my fork down, he excitedly took my hand and led me outside.

/Prepare the koi food./ he said casually, and when we got out, three small buckets of salmon were out there. It looked to be about 12 fish in total, and each one had to have been about 10 pounds.

He put a fish in my hand. I didn’t need gloves or a coat out here using my powers, but the trade off was that I’d be ravenous again later… I took the coat off because I didn’t want to get stinky.

“Hold it out and ring this.” He gave me a bell.

I ringed it, and 3 large koi floated out from the ice… they didn’t even break it.

“They can phase through water, rather than swim in it. They shoot ice spikes, which is why they’re moat guards… but they’re also very cute.” He said petting one. “The biggest one is Nami, the middle one is his son Mizu, and the littlest is his mate Rin.” He smiled.

They were all pure white with iridescent, see through fins. They were long and flowed with the wind, and their blue serpentine eyes looked like actual gemstones. They were long like a snake, but their scales and bodies were almost like a fish… They really were beautiful… and the kindness in their expressions made me wonder were they Just pets, not attack dogs.

The smallest of them, Rin, was the one who came to me. She gently took the fish and swallowed it whole. She made loud clicking growls, and was pretty affectionate to be so big…. They had to have been about 10 feet tall, and 20 feet long…

“Give her another.” He smiled.

I gave her a total of 4, but I wondered why the rest hadn’t come out. I figured there were more of them. “Where’s the rest?” I asked.

“There’s tunnels to all the major local lakes, but These here are so big, they enjoy eating all the time.” He said casually. “And yes, I did my research.” He climbed on top of the largest one, and Nami made no protest.

It slithered in the sky, shooting off like a bullet, high in the air…. I wanted No part in that, but it did look fun.

I was nudged by Rin… it seemed like she wanted to fly with her mate, but waited on me…

“Alright girl. Be gentle.” I said petting her snout.

She either didn’t understand me, or she didn’t listen. The moment I got on, I was shot into the air. She slithered faster than her mate And her son, twirling with me on her back. I held onto her long head fin, and my mate laughed.

“They understand draconic, but you can steer her with the fins!” He said diving down so low, he almost touched the snow before Nami twirled, going in a large loop.

It was like riding a horse once I found out that I could use them like reins. I’d only ever rode a horse maybe twice, but at least she was dry, not wet or slimy… she smelled like serpent, not fish as well.

“Where did Saiyatok get these?!” I had to yell, as I was starting to get cold, even with powers.

“From King Rau!” He shouted back. He also pointed. “There’s were we get off.” He commanded something to them in draconic, and they gently landed at the edge of a frozen lake.

The pines here had a blueish tinge, but the last was massive…. I could hear wolves in the distance, I could smell the cold… and I could hear the faint swishes of fish and crackle of ice on the lake.

“It’s beautiful…” I said silently.

On the massive koi, I couldn’t really take in the beauty of this place… I understood why all the Kings had their castles in far off lands like this… It was still wild… free… beautiful…. Timeless.

Of all the things I knew they valued, that was probably the most important…. The world ages… we don’t. We’re not necessarily stuck, but things don’t change often or easily… at my age, if I were human, I might not even be alive, yet, I get to enjoy basically my 20’s until I’m put permanently in the ground.

“My my… who knew such a large forest would be so loud with the contemplations of my Queen.” He said putting me into him. He wore no jacket…but his scales were out. We could be ourselves out here…

“It reminds me of home.” I said resting my head on his shoulder.

“It reminds me of home too…. But now I have someone to share it with. All of this is Yours. Everything you saw today, as far as the eye can see is our territory Grace….”

“The urge to run around is strong Aureus.” I said as he rubbed my back. “….I feel…. Called to.”

“I knew that already. There’s a surprise in those trees too. Go..” He smiled.

I took off my clothes, and he held them for me… he didn’t strip too… but I Shifted. It was too cold to be indecisive about it bare… and I ran across the lake. I howled…. It was responded too.

I didn’t know who though.
