Chapter 204 Twenty seven
Chapter 204 Twenty seven
My heart raced as I stepped through the doorway, left foot first.
Goddess. I would feel so stupid if my assumptions were wrong. And his absence would hurt more….
I saw him. My heart stopped in time with my feet, frozen at this long-forgotten sight of Hale in our home again. Tears jumped to my eyes.
He was not wearing one of those formal suits. But instead, an outfit that made it seem like he never left at all. The powder-blue tank top stretched over his broad chest, and the loose shorts were everything summer. Still, he managed to look every bit the aristocrat.
“My fairy.” His baritone dripped like honey, sturdy legs descending the stairs. Mordaine was quiet behind me, and I glanced back to find him drinking in the sight of Hale too.
I faced forward again and my breath caught. Hale was standing right before me. We stayed still, our eyes locked as time slowed.
In the months following my visit to his office, I have had dreams like these. Vivid. But his minty scent confirmed that this was real. His scent never featured in my dreams.
I moved, but he was faster. Our bodies locked in an embrace, our hands as desperate as our lips were hungry. I curled my arms around his neck, and he pinned my waist to himself.
His tongue chased mine, and heat flared beneath my skin despite my painful awareness of Mordaine behind us.
It had been so long. I had forgotten what it felt like to be kissed breathless, without first having to earn it with whips, edging and fire. I loved those, but I loved this too,
Hale kissed me like he'd been dying of thirst, and one of his large hands was already under my floral, summer dress at this point. Those magic fingers caressed my thigh as he lifted the flare of my shirt.
When he clutched my butt cheek under, yanking me closer to feel his erection, I moaned.
He pulled back immediately, breathing heavily. I bit my lip, but he shook his head with a low growl. Then his eyes fell behind me, staring over my shoulder.
I followed his gaze to find Mordaine relaxed on a couch, watching us with the enjoyment of a god who paid to watch a sex performance. Heat rushed to my face.
“Usually,” he said, the word almost lost in the depth of his bass. “The guest says hello to the husband. Then he presents his gifts, and the husband decides whether or not the guest deserves his wife's cunt.”
My lips parted.
Hale let out a dramatic sigh. “She is my wife.”
Mordaine nodded like it was news, “I almost forgot, seeing how you have been gone for half a year.” Then he glanced at me with a pretend-puzzled look. “I'm thoroughly surprised she even recognized you.”
It was all an act, a joke, but I could not be certain. It truly had been six months since Hale walked out on us, ignoring Mordaine even when they worked together.
The Alpha took a step forward now, “I did bring gifts. A lot.”
“Interesting.” Mordaine spread his legs, nonchalant, “Show me.”
Hale shot a sideways glance in my direction, and moved towards the couch where the dragon was seated. The same couch Mordaine had placed me on my very first day in this house.
My brows jumped as Hale sank to his knees before Mordaine. He knelt with complete stillness between the dragon’s feet, his chin tilted up in supplication.
The dragon watched him, still relaxed, still detached. But there was a flutter in my belly just from watching them this way.
Both men were doms. I had seen it that first day, before I even understood the dominant-submissive dynamic. But now, Hale was assuming the submissive position before him. How long would he stay on his knees, before he rose and walked away forever.
The dragon remained unfazed, staring down his nose at the alpha like this was his due. Then he moved, fast as a cobra. That moon-colored hair was clenched in his fist, but Hale did not even blink.
I was shamelessly aroused by the sight of them like this, a sight I had been denied for so long, too long. Sex and foreplay between them was always different, I had noticed. They used more force with each other that they would never use with me.
Mordaine was gripping that moon-colored hair by the roots now with a strength he never used when he grabbed mine. He stared into Hale’s eyes for a long second. And then he crushed his lips under his own.
He kissed him like a slave he had purchased for the sole purpose of kissing, like he had struck a hard bargain for those lips and was intent on getting all his money’s worth.
The room suddenly felt too hot, and my bottom lip was trapped between my teeth. Hale opened his mouth obediently for him, staying still for his mouth to be used.
I was moist and aching between the legs at all the low masculine sounds they made. Finally, Mordaine pulled away.
His face was neutral as he relaxed on the couch again, as if that had not just happened. “Good start. What gifts did you bring my wife?”
Hale remained still, and then he took Mordaine’s hand and brought it up to his own lips. My heart ached a little as I watched him press his lips onto his wedding band.
Mordaine had not taken it off all these months, and now, a shadow crossed his eyes for the first time. But it vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.
Hale rose to his feet at last, and I stiffened because he was walking towards the front door.
“Hale?”
He stopped beside the large piano, leaned down, and straightened again with a wicker pet basket. My eyes lit up.
“No,” Mordaine said immediately.
