Chapter 165 A Selenied

Chapter 165 A Selenied
At first, I thought my irregular heartbeat was because I was at death’s door.

But then there was also the surge running down my arms, the burning in my shoulders even as my spine began to extend.

In my chest, that tightness was back. It was suffocating to the point it made all the other times pale in comparison. My skin became a cage. But the denial of oxygen was the most urgent of it all, and I began clawing at his chest and waving my hands back for help.

But again, the dragon roared at the other men to stand back.

My chest became too tight for whatever was in there. In a second, my chest would burst open. I was sure of it. This realization flooded my blood stream with terror and I went feral in my fight to survive.

But something even more absurd was happening at this point. I was getting taller. Literally.

It made no logical sense, but I was right now standing at eye level with the dragon, and my spine continued to extend even then, till I grew too tall for his choke hold and his hand fell away from me.

I wheezed at the sudden rush of air into my lungs and that was when it happened. An explosion in my chest. The pain of it drove me to madness and an inhuman scream ripped from my throat. A thousand jolts of electricity seized my body then, gagging me.

In a second, I realized the electricity was literal.

The dragon stumbled backward as blinding light started to crackle out of my body with a buzzing sound. Like a thousand tree branches, they shot up right into the sky.

Lightning.

My body was bolting out lightning straight into the sky, and blast after blast of booming thunder answered, rocking the world.

The pain was gone, my head clear again. I looked down at my body in disbelief. I was wrapped in liquid lightning, the blue-white color of electricity, crackling with a zzz like a faulty power station.

The light in my skin was glowing again, but instead of the gold light I had always seen, it was the same electric blue of the lightning. It lit up the entire beach now, so bright I could see every inch like it was daytime. I saw Hale and Finn, crouching low to the ground, protecting their faces with their arms.

My eyes returned to Mordaine, and I saw why they were in that position. The light from me was scorching. It had melted his shirt clean off, but his skin remained untouched, and he did not look away.

Every single vein in my now transparent body took on the shape of lightning, reaching for the sky just above me where thunder continued to boom. And then the clouds cracked open. It rained more lightning. At this point, it seemed as if I was now standing in the middle of a fountain, only this fountain was blue-white lightning and a gaseous storm, instead of a waterfall.

A strong gust of wind started to build around me then, and the floor below swelled with liquid currents like an extension of the ocean.

You have to get down now. The lights are out, you will flood the city next.

I stared down at the spot the dragon stood. He seemed small, the size of my audience whenever I descended lower during my ballet choreography.

But I wanted to obey immediately. I love Seoul and would hate to destroy the city. It was with much terror though that I realized I could not shift back to my real body.

I can’t.

My chest was tightening in panic, and this worsened the chaos. Thunder rocked the floor of the beach.

This was no longer fun.

What if I remained stuck this way, more than twice my height, a living, breathing storm in a feminine figure who could crush blocks of buildings just by strolling past?

Look at me. Look in my eyes and be willing to give yourself freely.

My eyes found the dragon.

There was no trace of fear in his eyes. Even though he was standing somewhere around my thigh, he still had that arrogance that tugged at some old memory in my head.

Right now, he was the poster child for courageous teen hero stands up to a raging god. The pressure in my chest started to relax.

And in a flash, the light went out, my spine compressed, and I crashed to the floor with a painful thud.

I rolled to my side on the dark beach, panting, already doubting that had happened. How could that be real, and the lightning did not fry me to crisp?

The sound of wet footsteps made my head jerk up. I looked up to the faces of my men. Hale had a look of disbelief, Finn looked like he had been struck by one of the bolts of lightning. But in Mordaine’s eyes, I found dark excitement, and… Pride?

“You took out the power.” Hale broke the silence first. He flashed past Mordiane and helped me off the floor. “That was only a partial shift, and you took out the city’s power.”

“What?” I blinked down at my clothes as I stood straight again. My clothes were intact. Even a shift to wolf form always tore my clothes but…

I turned towards the man who had all the answers.

“You have no idea just how much magic your body houses.” His silver eyes shimmered with pride.

I frowned as Hale’s words from earlier rang in my ear. “If that was a partial shift, what is a full shift?”

“All that but in dragon form.” The deep bass said,

My eyes widened, but Hale grabbed my shoulders immediately. I flinched when our eyes met. Those midnight blue eyes were bright with desperation.

“That cannot happen again. Being a Selenied spells trouble.”

“What?”

“No one can control you except Daine. Even then, he can only do so when you allow him. The world does not like that, they will not allow anything that cannot be controlled live. The last time all the Firstborns were united was when they had to take out the Selenied who existed before I was born,” The old wolf said. “It required all their collective effort to destroy her.”
