Chapter 83 CHAPTER FOUR
Chapter 83 CHAPTER FOUR
HAVEN
“It's…it's been you…it's been you all this time?” I ask turning my gaze to Draven, disbelief marring my features. The shock I feel overrides the pain for a split second.
I didn't recognize him then, but now with my memories back I recognize him. The one man who Auren trusted with his life, the man who fought with him through thick and thin, is the same one standing before me, making me believe he's been working with Isolde – my aunt, this whole time.
“How? Why? You're Auren's best friend!" I say, still not believing what I'm seeing. “How could you…?"
“I'm not his fucking friend!" He yells, materializing before me in a second and wrapping his hand around my neck, choking me. I claw at his hands desperate for a breath of air.
" He. Killed. My. Family!” He yells in my face in a monster ours voice that has me almost pissing my pants. His eyes are red and practically dripping with rage. " When he led that genocide against the witches, he destroyed my family. My wife and my daughters. He doesn't deserve to have a home when he destroyed mine.”
His grip tightens and my vision darkens. Black dots start to form around the edges of my vision and my heart beat accelerates.
Is this how I die?
Just when I think he's going to choke the life out of me, Isolde pulls him away from me and shoves him to the chair. " Calm down, Draven. You'll kill her. She's no use for us dead.”
Great! They won't kill me, not until they get what they want from me that is, and that could be anything.
Meanwhile I have time to reach out to Auren and tell him what I just discovered, that's if the mate bond still works.
“So you've been using him all along. What exactly is your grand plan?"
He laughs. “You are our plan, Haven. Just wait and watch. You'll be amazed at how well I can come up with a plan. "
“You won't get away with this," I snarl.
“Oh I already have." He shrugs and adjusts his dress. “For centuries I planned and planned and executed parts of my plan and no one noticed. Your husband doesn't even know I'm a wizard, or was.”
"Was?”
"You see, when he killed almost every member of the witch clan, I needed to get revenge and accomplish the mission our coven started. So I approached him.” He leans back in his chair and close his eyes, expression pensive. " The few members of our coven who survived the genocide, that's Isolde 's father and some other strong witches went into hiding. To gain Auren's trust, we staged an attack."
“And let me guess, you saved him from said attack and probably passed out as the homeless traveler and he took pity on you."
“Excellent!" He says, eyes blinking with fake pride. “See, you're not all that clueless after all. You do have some amount of reasoning in you.
I stayed with him and slowly gained his trust and slowly brought him closer to me till I became the prime minister of Devon."
" What do you mean you were a witch?” I ask my former question. " What are you now?”
“An Uncilli.”
" An…what?"
“An Uncilli, Haven," he repeats slowly. “Creatures with advanced level of magic and mixed bloodlines. They are often turned hybrids."
“So you made Auren turn you into a dragon so you could become a hybrid, or an Uncilli?" I ask and he nods.
“And since then I've been planning my revenge. Not just revenge, but how to take over the entire Elaria. Now, " He rises to his feet. He extends his hand and the smoke hands carry me higher higher up the wall and their holds tighten. “Come Isolde, let's leave her to her thoughts."
“You won't take me back to Elaria?" I ask and Isolde shakes her head.
“They can easily find you there. Here no one has control over anything except the gods. Here they won't be able to see you."
So that means no one would be finding me anytime soon.
They head out and close the door and feel like I'll die.
My powers are not here ye…or they are?
I can't feel the warmth in my fingers, so I close my eyes and despite the pain try to focus on Auren.
Nothing.
I feel around for the mate bond and after searching a long awful while, come across it in my mind. It's faint and almost non-existent, the light that represented it is now fading out and almost dying. I can feel the bond very faintly, but I can't feel him.
I have no idea what Isolde and Draven plan on doing but I know for a fact that I'm the key element to their plan, and if they succeed, I won't be alive to save anyone worth saving.
I must warn them somehow.
My head is still fuzzy from all those memories forced into my head at once and I'm still in a lot of pain, both in my head and body. However, I close my eyes and try to reach someone else.
Auren's dragon, maybe.
Perhaps the spark of dragon flame in me will be able to reach out to Rhaegar. It's worth trying though.
I take a deep breath and try again, harder this time. I search and search and search through my mind’s eye till I find him nestled in the far end where I hardly venture.
“Rhaegar," I call out, with hopes that it can hear me. " Rhaegar, can you hear me clearly?”
" Is that you, mate?” It's rough voice comes out pained and exhausted. " Haven?”
"Yes, yes I…" my energy is weakening and I am now finding it hard to breathe. “I need you to get to Auren. Tell him not to trust Draven for he's not who he is and…”
The connection cuts off.
" Rhaegar! Rhaegar!”
