Chapter 80 PART TWO: CHAPTER ONE

Chapter 80 PART TWO: CHAPTER ONE
AUREN

Humans!

Fucking annoying set of orgasms I would eliminate if given the chance to. They're all so pretentious and fucking hypocrites and they love sucking up to people better than them just for what? A scrap of attention that's not worth anything?

I lean my head into my palm and gently rub my temple trying to warn off the approaching migraine I get from just looking at them. Something in me twists as I watch the couple seated on the table beside me act like their love is the purest fucking thing.

The man's cheating on his wife with his secretary and is planning to kill her after she gives birth, while the woman is sleeping with the governor and feeding him info of her husband's illegal activities.

Visiting the human realm, Earth as they call it, has become something I do out of habit and not out of my dying need to be around humans and study them.

“Yikes! It's pouring outside and you're gloomy inside. Come on, Papa, I have school soon." The sweet, soft voice that's been my anchor this past three centuries has me lifting my head up. My daughter Annaleigh stands before me, arms folded and brows cocked.

" Why are you here, princess?”’

She rolls her eyes and flops into the seat beside me. " It just so happens that I step into Earth and the first thing that greets me is a thunderstorm. You'll flood the humans at this rate, Papa.”

And wouldn't that be a favor done to everyone? They'd probably build me a shrine and worship at my altar for ridding the world of such nuisance.

But the council of gods won't be happy. They didn't make me the god of rain so I could flood their precious creatures. Not like I fucking asked to be god of anything. I only went to them for a means to find my wife and drag her out of the black hole she plunged herself into.

But they told me she couldn't be pulled out of Euron.

“Euron isn't somewhere you just walk in and out at your will, dragon king. It's a prison made to hold the most vicious of creatures and if your mate willingly stepped in, you can't bring her out,”Fures, the goddess of flame and rumoured mother of dragons says, her eyes boring holes into mine.

“So how do I find her?" I roar, not ready to hear any excuses. My heart breaking and the burning need to hold my mate in my arms driving me insane.

" There is a way,” Ulices, the god of wind, says , leaning forward. The other gods glare at him but he merely shrugs and laughs. “The man's desperate, better take advantage of it." He stares at me for a long fucking while and sighs. “You're sure you'll do anything?"

“Anything!"

“Be one of us. Your mate will be reborn in the far future," he says. “There's no telling exactly when it'll happen or if you'll be alive to see it happen, so become immortal. That way, you'll have an eternity to search for her."

And that is how I became a god, and I've been waiting for three fucking centuries!

Knowing my daughter is right, I grudgingly pull back the rain and it stops at a light drizzle, nothing much, not enough to get you soaked if you run fast enough.

Annaleigh touches my shoulder and I turn to look at her.

" You've sat here for at least an hour everyday for the past three centuries. If she were here you would have already seen her. The gods didn't say when exactly she'll be born, so it could still be yet to happen."

I sigh because she's right, but when you've lost everything that actually mattered to you, you don't bother about simple pleasures and give two fucks about if your routine sound's weird. Not when you are already empty inside.

Honestly, I don't know why I chose this particular bar. Maybe it's because this is the first place I visited when I was made an immortal and granted access to the human realm. I've been coming here ever since, hoping one day I'll catch even a glimpse of her. But it's been three years centuries and still yet, nothing.

" Papa,” Annaleigh says softly, placing her hand on my arm. “She will show up eventually. You have an eternity to look for her."

She places a kiss on my cheek and rises to her feet. “I've got class. I'll be on my way now, and please do not start another thunderstorm."

“Be home tonight for dinner," I order as she bounces out of the restaurant, curls springing wildly around her as she runs out. She's a splitting image of her mother and my heart aches with longing each time I stare at her.

Sometime ago, she decided to start living fully amongst the humans, and by living fully I mean attending their ridiculous schools and living in an apartment somewhere in the city. She's barely home most nights, and the only semblance of comfort I had is slowly slipping away.

Bored, I rise to my feet and casually stride across the room, stepping out of the building and adjusting my suit jacket. I head to my car and get in, aiming to just go for a drive.

On most days I don't use it. It stays with Lyra who's also taken refuge in the human world, having the time of her life with her human friends and fucking almost the entire city. I live with her when I'm in the human world and all my belongings stay with her.

I usually teleport, but today I felt like driving. I needed some time in my head away from the chaos of life.

I kick the engine to life and drive out of the restaurant parking lot.

I pass by a lot of people. Men, women, children. Families and friends and relatives are all happy and content in each other's company.

My heart breaks into a million fucking pieces.

Then it hits me.

Soft, sweet and familiar. The scent of wet roses and vanilla. The scent of wild berries on a rainy morning. The mate bond comes crashing into me with such force that my vision blurs for a good two minutes.

I slam my legs on the brakes just in time to avoid hitting the woman about crossing the road. She falls to the ground and drops the box she's holding.

I rush out of the car and head to her intending to apologize, but I stop dead in my tracks when I see the woman sitting on the floor, staring at the ruined box of cake.

Haven!
