chapter 40

Snow was deep in thoughts as she stared into her mirror while brushing her long snowy white hair. She harshly tried to untangle it, with brute, forceful strokes of her hairbrush but her long locks didn’t budge, making her more and more agitated than she already was. She hates the feeling of not having control over herself , especially over emotions who she normally had in check. But these days it seemed as if there was an unknown force within her or hanging around her that made her usual cold and calculated self starting to feel things. Things she has buried deeply along, long time ago, with the purpose to never ever dig those kind of feelings up again! Not for anyone, not herself and especially not for men, that despising deceitful species! She growled deep inside her while her lips were in a thin line pursed.

Suddenly she was removed from her deep ramblings by a loud laughter, making her frown.

“What the Goddess is going on down there?” She muttered as she trowed her hairbrush away, on her bed as she stood up from her spot in front of the mirror.

She pushed her door to the balcony more open and stepped outside in the full sunlight, making her temporarily blind of the harsh rays of sunlight that hit her like a brick wall in her face after spending so many hours inside.

She walked over to the edge and leaned over to watch who was laughing so loud.

Downstairs her eyes caught sight of Don Micah and Sheila who seemed to have a nice time enjoying themselves, adding unknowingly more fuel to Snow’s bubbling fury that had started to rise from deep within.

“Do you have to be so loud?! Jeez , I can’t even properly think with all your loud noises!” She yelled from the balcony with a scowl on her face towards Micah and Sheila who stopped with whatever they were doing.

“Come down miss Snow, you will love the pool, the water is really nice, come join me please?” Sheila grinned looking up at Snow.

Snow cursed under her breath and rolled her eyes at them before she turned and walked back inside her room again and locked the balcony doors behind her with a loud thud.

“Come down miss Snow, you will love the pool!” She sarcastically muttered pretending to be Sheila.

“Urgghh, humans!” She spluttered before grabbing her brush again to finish what she had started.

After spending some more minutes she finally managed to untangle all her remaining hair strands and put her brush back on the table before she may down on her bed.

“Why do I keep feeling like this? What is going on with you Snow? You are never like this, ever! You hate humans, especially men! So what is it that makes Micah so special that you get so angry all the time that he is spending time with her? Why??” She asked herself out loud in a whisper.

After her past she vowed to never ever in her cold life to ever trust or love a man again, especially a human one! But why did his face starting to pop up into her mind on the strangest hours of the day or night? Or why did she get aroused every time she got near him?

And then what about Sheila? Why every time when she was hanging around Micah, her stupid usual cold heart tightened inside her ample chest at the sight of those two together?

What was she even playing at with him? Not that she cared of course, not in. A million light-years but yeah tell that to her stupid feelings, feelings she remembered as being called jealousy by the humans, that’s what her mother had though her, when she was still alive.

Snow sighed closing her eyes as he thoughts drifted towards a dark corner in her mind. The dark corner of where her parents were dead and buried.

“I miss you so very much mama, papa!” She whispered as an ice cold tear slipped out of her shiny orbs.

A shudder went trough her as her dark magic stirred inside her.

“OK, don’t go there Snow! Not yet! Now it is not the time for it yet!” She muttered to herself while trying to calm her raging darkness to the back of her mind.

Once she she got it under control again, her heartbeat slowed down again and her eyes, who had started to glow in the process, so become normal again.

“You have to fight this, you. Ant let him win Snow, never ever can you give him your heart, never!!” Was the last thing she said before pressing her pillow over her head with her eyes closed so she would not hear Micah having fun with Sheila anymore before drifting off into a light sleep.

On the other side, in the hallway, Anastasia stood in front of the window that overlooked the backyard and skilled upon seeing her son Micah having a good time with their newest house guest Sheila who’s pregnancy become more and more visible each day.

With a smile on her face she walked slowly down the stairs with her walking stick and made her way over to the French doors that led to the backyard.

“Is there still some space for your old mother, Micah?” She mushed as she approached the lounge set on which Micah was sitting with a drink in his hand while he chatted with Sheila who was floating on the water on a inflatable seat.

“Mama, please come sit! You want a drink?” Micah said the moment he spotted her.

“Hello Anastasia, how are you feeling today?” Sheila asked with a genuine smile.

“Hello my dear, I feel good, I don’t know what it is but it seems that going out more often does a human body good and yes I would like to have a cold lemonade please!” She chuckled her reply.

As Micah pressed a button which was connected to their kitchen inside the mansion Sheila smiled mischievously.

“Or a certain man!?” She grinned, making Anastasia blush.

“Ow well whatever! Anyways let’s talk about you two! Son, when are you going to take Sheila out on an official date?” She asked while sitting down with her eyes on Micah who almost chocked on his drink, making him cough loudly.

After some minutes he finally managed to calm down a bit and looked from under his eyelashes from his still grinning mother towards the pool, to see Sheila’s reaction.

Just when one of the maids brought his mother lemonade Sheila emerged from the pool and slowly walked over towards where they were sitting and grabbed a towel and sat down in one of the lounge chairs, drying her hair.

“So, well, when will you ask her out?” Anastasia asked again, making Sheila stop drying her hair for a moment.

“What do you mean, Anastasia, what should he ask me?” Sheila replied curiously.

“Oh come now children! Don’t play dummy with your mother now! We are all adults here right? So, since my son is still looking for a good woman and you are soon going to be a single mother, why not fix that and become a couple? You are looking so good together! I knew it from the start although the other stuff I didn’t know! But anyways that’s all in the past now right, so let’s move forward and join our family Sheila! Mica will look after you and the baby and you my dearest son, finally will have a queen by your side!” Anastasia mushed before taking a sip of her lemonade.
