Chapter 59 Unfortunate
Madison's POV
Do you know that feeling you get where you've been waiting for a very long time for a person to say a particular word to you, but unfortunately at the time the person felt like it was the right time, that ship had already sailed?
I don't know if you get what I mean.
But I was feeling that way.
I felt empty.
"Because you like me? " I asked, unsure of what I heard. The cry had seized. I was being clothed with a new emotion.
One I couldn't quite name yet.
The rage was still there, boiling.
"I.. I do." Alessandro nodded, looking at me.
I scoffed, shaking my head. My lips broke into an amused smile. "You like me." I repeated, my voice breaking into laughter. "Can you believe that, Adrianne. The Don likes me - his pet."
Then my eyes settled on his confused expression.
"It's quite unfortunate..." I paused, clenching my jaw. My heart quaked hard in my chest. My mind gnawed at me not to say it.
"What is?" Alessandro took a step forward, while I took one backward.
"You cannot say you like a person and not for one day while I was in your father's custody, come to check if I was breathing!" I yelled.
He hurt me deep.
I wasn't going to let him lie to me anymore or try to woo me with those sweet words.
He didn't like me.
He wanted me out of his way. But he wanted to be the one to do it himself.
"But I came to save you."
"Only because you probably got alerted that I escaped. Who knows if you're just coming to finish what your deadbeat father started." I frowned, eyeing him in disgust.
His jaw ticked, his hand clenched. I was probably correct. I had gotten him.
"That's what you think of me?" He asked, pain evident in his voice.
I didn't know how to answer that. I shut my eyes, letting the tears spill. "You don't like me, Alessandro. You only want to use me and dump me. You only want to prove to the world that I was just another of your worthless toys. You -"
"Madison!" He yelled, cutting me off. He held my shoulder, looking straight into my eyes when I opened them. "Where are all these coming from?"
His eyes held concern in them
"I'm tired of hearing you lie to me, Alessandro." I shook my head. "You would never like me." My voice broke.
"But I do."
I pushed him away by his chest. "You think I didn't hear it? Igor told me! He played it." His eyes snapped wide.
"I promise, you misunderstood..."
"What? I don't know your voice anymore?" I laughed, pained. "You told him to do whatever he liked with me! You told him that." I poked his chest. "How could you tell you father to do whatever he liked to someone you claim to like?"
My heart was breaking. My breathing were becoming hard. I held my chest, struggling
"Madison." Adrianne ran to my side, holding me up. I held her hand tight, shutting my eyes.
"Please tell him to go. Its enough." I whispered.
"I can't leave without you listening to me." Alessandro said, still being stubborn.
I swallowed hard, clenching my fist. Then I opened my eyes, staring at him. My eyes held no single emotion.
"Lie to me, Alessandro. I'm all ears."
His shoulder tensed. "I sent Stefan to you. Igor is smart and if I slipped my plan or acted defiant, he would fucking kill you."
"That would've been fucking better than hearing him tell me all those awful things you said about wanting to fuck me and dump me." I cried, the tears pouring down.
Mind you, this was the first time I swore too. Outwardly.
He shook his head. "I would never say such." His voice was calm. "Raven, I'm not a good person but for you, I try to be less brutal. You think if I wanted to fuck you, I wouldn't have done that by now?" He frowned slightly. "Think of all the times you were vulnerable around me and how I would've taken it to my advantage!" He yelled slightly.
I flinched back, looking at him softly. I swallowed hard, looking elsewhere.
He wasn't lying. There were so many times I thought our actions would lead to us having sex but he stopped it halfway with either his rude talk or just saying he wasn't ready yet
It still didn't mean that he didn't plan to do all that to lure me in
"In as much as Stefan helped me get out of there, I helped myself too to escape." I sighed, continuing, "You cannot erase the trauma, the feeling, the event that happened. They almost ra..assaulted me." My voice broke, the tears increasing.
"And they'll pay. Nobody would be spared." I raised my eyebrow up, doubting if really everybody would pay. Then he added, "including Igor."
My heart beat slowed down a bit, the storm in me reducing. I wanted to hold on to his words. I raked my eyes, taking in his dressing for the first time today.
Tuxedo looked really hot on him. If I wasn't so mad at him, I'd gladly eyefuck him.
"You should go back to your wife." I told him, the words heavy.
"I called the wedding off." He said firmly. "Because that's not who I want."
"Huh? T..then who do you want?" I raised my eyes to meet his. He held my gaze, not wanting to look away or even blink
"You, Madison." He said, taking a step closer.
He was danger, Madison
They'd kill you for being with him
They'd kill me even without being with him. Especially now that he admitted to liking me.
They'd use me against him.
They must never know about what he just said.
I wasn't going to risk my life that way. I wasn't going to mingle with him anymore.
Probably if they saw we were apart and he picked a new interest in another woman, they'd not harm any of us.
I braced myself up, my facial expression hard. "It's unfortunate that I do not want you."
"Madison." Adrianne whispered beside me.
Alessandro's eyes widened. "Y..you don't mean that."
"Did I burst your little bubble, Don." I smirked, breaking eye contact. I couldn't look at him while I acted mean.
Alessandro held my hand, stopping me from moving.
"Raven, think about this. I can protect you if you're scared that..."
"You can't." I cut him off. "The only thing you can do is to stay away from me and let me have peace."
"They wouldn't stop coming after you." He growled.
"Because you are involved!" I yelled. "Leave me alone. Please. " I bit my quivering lips.
Those words tugged on my heart before they slipped out.
He chuckled darkly. "Too bad I thought that would work on you."
I raised my eyebrow at him, quite shocked.
"What?"
"Good thing you weren't stupid enough to fall for those cheap lies and acts of mine." He let go of my hand. "Do whatever you want with your life now that I let you..."
He turned his back on me. I clenched my chest, trying to hold it from shattering.
I was correct after all. It was all an act.
"But when I get back for you, everything I say, goes." He turned his head to the side, looking at me with his side eyes. "It'll be straight business. No more fun."
His voice was dark, cold.
Fear slithered down my spine. He sounded dangerous.
"Don't even think of running. You're still my property. A debt in human form." He walked up to the door. "See you very soon, Madison Turner."
He opened the door and left, not bothering to shut it. Adrianne ran after him.
When she closed the door behind her. I fell to my knees, crying out bitterly.
I didn't know how to feel. Especially when I knew I liked him too.
A little more.
"Madison." Adrianne stomped in, a scowl on her face. "We're going to beat Alessandro in his own game."
Eh?
"I have an idea already."
