Chapter 78 Backtrack
She never really got an explanation or apology for what happened the night Luciano had forced himself on her.
He's the father, she thought as she reviewed her steps.
He was the only one she had been with in the last three months.
She didn't want to be pregnant, not at all!
Not while she was living life to the fullest in Umbria.
Isabella wouldn't have seen that coming.
She escaped for a reason, she certainly didn't want anything to bond her to Luciano.
I should have known!, Isabella thought as she beat herself up for the news she got.
She looked towards the result sheet yet again, it definitely was unmoving!
She really was five weeks pregnant.
Isabella looked at the test results again as the thought of having a baby wasn't really on her bucket list in her stay in Umbria.
That independence that she craved, that she finally got…
It was clipped yet again by the thought of being a mom.
The responsibilities that came with it, especially with the child being Luciano's.
It felt like she was back in the mansion and Luciano's stifling presence loomed.
Her phone vibrated yet again, another missed call from Celia.
Isabella looked towards her phone, seeing the totality of the missed calls from Celia.
It was fourteen!
Nobody would call me if Celia hadn't been so nice to check up on me, Isabella thought as she had run away from Luciano’s residence and nobody knew her location.
What am I going to tell her though, Isabella wondered as she remembered she had lied to Celia about her actual Identity.
“I would go, hi Celia! I'm actually not Maria! My name's Isabella and I got pregnant for the Italian Mafia Don! Tadaaa!”, Isabella whispered.
She internally cringed as she tucked her short hair behind her ear.
She sat in the giant lobby of the giant hospital as she didn't know what to do.
Such news was triggering!
Luciano had found a way to torment me one more time, even as he wasn't here, Isabella thought, sitting up.
The hospital was like any other hospital she'd been to, white, bleak and smelling of antiseptic.
The antiseptic seemed even more potent as Isabella's pregnancy hormones caused her to pick up on the smell more than she'd like to.
It was utterly annoying.
She had walked into the hospital to get drugs, thinking she was under the weather or burnt out as she wouldn't stop vomiting.
She never would have expected a whole baby inside of her.
“Is my wife going to be okay!”, a man asked as his pregnant wife was being rolled on the stretcher to the operation room.
“Honey!!”, Isabella heard a woman call as they went further into the distance.
As Isabella sat in the lobby waiting for no one in particular, she thought of the two pregnant women that were rushed in with their husbands panicking.
Most especially the one she saw seconds before.
That would be me, except I wouldn't be having a husband, Isabella thought.
She didn't want to entertain bringing up a child without a father figure.
Except…
She didn't have to.
She could always carry out an abortion!!
No one would know I had a baby the whole time, Isabella thought, suddenly sitting up like she had been liberated.
She could have an abortion as the baby wasn't up to ninety days yet.
It had just been thirty five days.
Abortion was already in the picture, and she wouldn't rule it out just yet.
“I'm so sorry baby!
You might have to go!”, Isabella muttered, the thought pulling at her heartstrings quite a bit.
With that, she packed the things on her lap properly, folding up the letter and the drugs and shoving them in her bag.
She walked out of the hospital, hailing a cab to her apartment.
She needed to have a discussion with Celia.
“Look who finally decided to call back!”, Celia teased as she picked Isabella's call.
“I know Celia and I'm sorry!”, Isabella said as she sat on her balcony.
“It's fine! How are you doing now anyways? Was it a fever?!”, Celia asked, Isabella actually contemplating whether to tell the truth or not.
“Uhmm…!”, Isabella started.
“What's going on! Are you okay?!”, Celia questioned as she didn't get the expected answer from Isabella.
“I am actually! I'm fine! It's just that I need you to come by my apartment later!”, Isabella said, deciding to just tell Celia in person.
“What's going on Maria!! You're scaring me!”, Celia said as she noticed a customer enter the restaurant.
Romano had been kind enough to attend to them as he saw Celia was on a call.
“It's nothing major! We just have to talk tonight! Maybe later when you close up the restaurant!”, Isabella said, twirling the ends of her oversized tee shirt.
“This isn't exactly the way you break news to someone.
In the middle of my job!!!
Really?!”, Celia asked, the suspense getting to her.
Her tone had been so funny, thus Isabella laughed slightly.
She hadn't meant to bother her at such a time, but she just got settled and just ate.
“I'm sorry Celia! This is about the report from the hospital! I know that's what you want to know!”, Isabella said.
“Okay fine!, I'll be there as soon as I close up!”, Celia said, wondering what said news could be.
“Alright then! I'll cook something to eat!”, Isabella offered knowing how tired Celia would be.
“Yesss!! I want something spicy!”, Celia said, intending to end the call as more customers entered, being too much for Romano to handle.
“You got it!”, Isabella said as she stood up and approached her stocked up fridge.
“Alright I have to go now!”, Celia said.
“Alright bye!”, Isabella said before she cut the call.
Since she had heard of the news of her baby, she had subconsciously started rubbing her stomach which was still flat.
It's much better to tell her in person, Isabella thought as she got started with dinner.
