Chapter 136 Silent Treatment
The audacity he had!
To say such a thing to her!!
Isabella stormed off angrily to her room as angry tears fell from her eyes.
All the feelings she started to confirm dying in his room with all the things he said to her.
'...and I believed him!', Isabella thought as she remembered all that had transpired between that moment in her apartment and minutes before.
'I believed all of it!
How could I have been stupid?!', she thought.
She was certainly going to find this traitor!
And she was going to leave without looking back, just like she had done the first time.
~~
Andreas actually entered Luciano's room after she left.
From how he saw it, things didn't end so well.
"You know that last part wasn't necessary right?!", Andreas asked as he had overheard their conversation earlier.
Silence.
"You want me to discreetly get a DNA?!", Andreas suggested.
"Won't be necessary!
Might have been a ploy to tie me to her!", Luciano said in anger.
Andreas was quick to correct him...
"Oh!
I didn't know that's what you call it when you force yourself on someone!"
"Right!", Luciano remembered, angrily wrapping the towel around his body.
"What if it was someone else!?!", Andreas asked, voicing his concerns.
He truly didn't think Isabella could be the one behind his claims.
"We'd be leaving early tomorrow!
Brief the men!", Luciano said, giving no answer to Andreas' question.
"Yes Don!", Andreas acknowledged as Luciano went into his bathroom.
~~
The following days, their communication was very obvious. It was strained.
They practically gave each other the silent treatment.
It was much easier as Luciano came late at night and Isabella was asleep by that time.
Of course, even as he doubted being Sofia's father, he couldn't help but be drawn to see his green eyed baby.
He would stealthily sneak into Isabella's room to carry Sofia, even if it was for a few minutes.
She had woken up on one occasion, but she slept back as soon as he laid her on his chest.
It wasn't hard to notice this silent treatment.
Especially as Luciano stopped ogling at Isabella randomly or checking her out.
Isabella seemed more busy as well, as she was up to something!
Finding the traitor!!
She had even established contact with Celia, missing her company and yearning to go back.
Now, she was determined!
If she left, she wouldn't come back for anything.
\~~~
Isabella was spying on one of the men which looked suspicious to her one day when she heard a knock on her door.
She hadn't expected anyone would knock, thus, she was slightly rattled.
"Ugh!!
Hello!
Sorry come in!!", Isabella answered after nearly hitting her head.
"Are you okay?!", Madam Paula asked as she entered the room.
"Yes ma'am!", Isabella answered as she arranged her disheveled clothes.
"What are you doing??
Spying on The Don?!", Madam Paula asked, chuckling.
"Oh God!! No!
Really!!
I would be caught dead doing that!" Isabella exclaimed.
It really felt like she had swallowed something irritating.
"Ohh
That's what I've been meaning to ask you!", Madam Paula said as she suddenly remembered why she wanted to have a word in the first place.
"Where's Sofia?!", Madam Paula asked as she didn't see the child with her mother.
"There!", Isabella pointed to Sofia who was in her crib.
She was so engrossed in the game on her mother's phone to notice or speak to anyone.
"Well!
Look how serious she is!", Madam Paula remarked, seeing Sofia's focused face.
A smile appeared on Isabella's face as they both looked at Sofia.
Her child was one of her greatest achievements!
"So!
I came here for more specific reasons!", Madam Paula started.
"What's that ma'am!?!", Isabella asked, obviously intrigued.
"We have eyes, you know!
And we use them to see!
Is anything wrong with you and The Don?!", Madam Paula asked, cutting to the chase.
"No!
Why would anything happen between us!?", Isabella asked back, not realizing she was confusing the woman even more.
"Before this, it certainly looked like something was going on.
Like something was brewing!", Madam Paula pointed out.
"That was merely something that shouldn't have happened!", Isabella answered truthfully.
"But...
He keeps...!", Madam Paula drawled as she struggled to find a word for it.
"You see!
I understand you!
I really do!
It's just that whatever contact we established, it wasn't supposed to happen.
And we realize it now!", Isabella said as she sat on the bed with Madam Paula.
She had given the woman a very watered down version of what had happened, omitting the words Luciano said which had hurt her soul.
"Oh!", Madam Paula said in realization.
"Also!
After this!
I would like that we don't talk about it!", Isabella added.
"That won't be a problem!", Madam Paula said as she took her leave.
Having expected a different answer, Madam Paula became even more curious to know what was going on.
\~~~
Isabella had been more than happy to hear Luciano had gone on a trip!
A trip she didn't know details about but was glad he left.
She wondered for how long they would continue their charade, as she would very much like to go back to her life in Umbria.
Well!
That was until she helped to find the traitor.
One person she suspected for sure was the guard she had been spying on.
He moved and looked suspicious, always making calls!
Isabella's window gave her a direct view of the guard house, and she didn't hesitate to make use of it.
Directly following him would rouse suspicions as she barely came out of her room, but her window had proved effective as she stayed put.
After minutes of waiting to see anything, Isabella found the same guard taking a call in a secluded corner by the guard house.
It was eye raising as she kept seeing him look behind him to see anyone coming.
'Oh my God!', Isabella thought as she saw him get in the car and start the engine.
'He was going somewhere!', Isabella thought as she quickly stood up.
She looked at what she and her daughter were wearing.
It seemed good enough to leave the mansion.
She simply had the conviction to follow him!
But, she was going to need an excuse, one that worked fast.
As soon as she heard the gates, she quickly had one.
Ice cream for Sofia!!
A classic move!
Using Sofia to her advantage!
She quickly grabbed her daughter as she did the mental calculations.
It would take about ten to twenty minutes to get out of the path that led to the rest of the estate.
She needed to be out to follow him.
"Come on baby!", Isabella said as she grabbed her bag and carried her daughter.
Practically running towards the door, she hoped to find Giuseppe, her driver.
"Where are you going in such a hurry?!", Madam Paula asked Isabella as she saw her sprint towards the front door.
"We're going to get Ice cream for Sofia!", Isabella yelled as she closed the door behind her.
"Wait...!", Madam Paula said, but Isabella was already out the door by then.
Just as luck would have it, Guiseppe was just driving back from an errand and didn't mind driving them t
o get Ice cream.
"...sure!
Hop in I guess!", Guiseppe said as Isabella hopped into the car herself.
~~
That would be the last time Madam Paula would see Isabella and her daughter
One death is imminent.
