Chapter 57 He went too far
Arianna's POV
"You didn't and I don't need your apology because you won't change!" I retort but in my heart. I was just silent and he clenched his teeth, and lean his face closer to me.
"Stop being difficult and talk to me!" Now he was scolding me! Were was that soft spot in him to plead? I threw my face away from him and he tried to cup my cheeks but I haul his hand away, went low beneath his arm and snuggled out.
He grimanced at me and I began to move away. I could hear his footsteps behind me and he was calling out to me but I pretended not to hear.
It felt as though we were acting a movie as I annoyingly walk pass him, heading for the reception. I got the elevator, sober and tired, when it almost slammed, he placed his hand at it slide open.
The people inside with him gave him a gruesome look but then he let out a warm smile that captured everyone. His way of saying he was sorry.
We were now seven with him. I lean my back, clasp my arms behind my body, anticipating the next show he'd display. Ravyen drew closer to me, standing side by side as he purposely brushed my shoulder.
I moved a bit from him, avoiding his gaze and gestures. He wasn't liking the attitude I was displaying for him. "Arianna, listen to me! I wasn't at fault"
Everyone suddenly rolled their eyes at us, the elderly woman among us beckoned on him to be quiet. Their peeking eyes were tremble as it seems they all had a burden or another and crave for tranquility.
I folded my lips covering my face with my palm, a bit abashed as I bared my teeth. "Fuck! Is this place a cemetery or library? Can't I talk to my woman in peace?"
He argued and I widened my eyes at him and held his hand. He just replied. I felt like slapping his face for responding. Couldn't he just abide by the rule?
There was no harm in keeping silence for some seconds until I get to my destination. His veins throbbing in neck and his jutting chin and his clenched fist.
He clenched his jaw and his nose flared. He was angry at this woman. I'd say she didn't do anything wrong he was just pissed off because I haven't spoken to him yet.
He was inconveniencing others just to have my time. The woman glared at him and started; "Are you trying to say you own this elevator? Huh? Oh these men of this generation, they lack respect!"
Ravyen growled at her almost responding but I tightened my grip on his hand and he rolled that grievous face at me. His eyes softens as he pants slowly.
He raised a brows at me and pressed his lips together while letting out a deep sigh. The ability to read and respond to each other's facial expressions gave me goosebumps as it sends a deeper connection and a sense of being emotionally attuned.
Ravyen kept calm and let me handle it. The rest murmur as though wanting to throw a fist at him. Usually, such people aren't meant to get involved but just ignore us.
But then I just realized we were trapped with elders and that was hell. They'd want to chip in, comparing this generation to theirs.
"I'm so sorry about that, he lost someone that's why he's this way" I defended to end the arguments between them. Ravyen was quite as he seems stunned by my statement.
Arghh, ravyen was making me uncomfortable and I just couldn't wait for this elevator to chime open. "It's okay Rav, these are hard times, you would get over it, don't impose the aggression in you on others," I advise and the rest solicited with him.
Ravyen's jaw drops as his diluted eyes gawp at him. I knew what he was thinking, I just lied but it was to save his arms. "Oh my, sorry for the loss" she comfort suddenly mellowing down as the men here pat his shoulders.
"You'd overcome, trust me" one of them encouraged and he blinking his eyes. He smacked his palm on his forehead and shook his head. "Oh child, come here" the old man beckons and spread her arms at him to embrace.
I was enjoying the fact that he couldn't speak up and just ended up playing along. He shook his head, gesturing on me to pull a trick and stop the old woman from embracing him but I ignored him.
He didn't move and she circled her arm around his back, pressed his chest hard against her breast and stroking his back. "Shhh, okay" she said burying him in his arm and like a union, the rest four joined them in the warm embrace.
I was left out, watching the emotional get along and ravyen was suffocating, calling my name in between his lips. His voice was faint and he couldn't fight back.
That serves him right. The least he could do was collapse because these elders wouldn't let him be. Immediately the door opened, I jumped out not even taking a look at his current situation.
I believe he would be find in their arms. I didn't want to see him because he was pissing me off. It so unimaginable that he has to read an apology letter from his palm, almost cause chaos in the elevator and now, I don't even know what he would do next.
The thought of him rile up more anger in be. I was no at the reception, it was quite rowdy, with patients, visitors, doctors and nurses, going about their daily routines.
I intended to sit on a chair around that area when I suddenly froze. "Arianna Walker!!!" I shuddered as everyone around me threw their faces to the caller.
His voice jolt a spark in me. My lips quiver as I widened my eyes. I knew he was the one. He must have escape the union.
Nervously, I shifted my gaze and found ravyen juddering out from the elevator. He was racing to me. I widened my eyes at him as I realized he was now holding some bunches of flowers.
Wow, how did he get that? Now I recall, one of elders had a bouquet of roses. He must have given them to Ravyen.
Once he was an inch close, he suddenly went on his knees, panting softly and pointing the roses to my face. His action drew the malicious eyes of passerby.
