Chapter 60 Breakdown

Chapter 60 Breakdown
“Why are you suddenly packing my bag, Julia?” Lyla came back after having breakfast and saw Julia, one of the maid was, stuffing her clothes into a carrier. She rushed over to her and stopped her action mid-air. “What are you doing?” she asked angrily, and really showed her fangs to her. The way she looked at Julia was like she wanted to swallow her.
“Packing your bags, Madam,” Julia answered honestly and innocently. She was just doing what she was told by the big boss. There was no further information that she got; she was just told to pack a bag.
“How dare you?!” Lyla was angry and filled with panic, so she couldn’t contain her anger. She snatched the suitcase away from her, pushing it far away from her. So, it stopped her work momentarily.
Julia, who was shocked by her sudden outburst, stood frozen in her spot. She didn’t try to defend herself; she just accepted the insult.
“Who told you you can touch my stuff?” Her chest rose and fell, breathing heavily. Her eyes shot dangerously at Julia, and she was shaking by this time from seeing Lyla getting angry all of a sudden.
“Forgive my rudeness, Madam. I was just told to pack a bag for you,” Julia spoke lowly, her voice barely heard. Her face looked down, and her fingers fidgeted nervously in front of her. She was afraid that she had made a mistake.
“Who told you to do this?”
“Mr. Valentini, Madam.” As soon as his name was mentioned, Lyla was taken aback. Zeno told the maid to pack her bag? Why? The big why floated in the air now. As the words sank in, her heart clenched painfully. She couldn’t understand why Zeno would do this to her.
“Call him. I said, call him!” Lyla shouted out of frustration.
Regina, who heard the shouting, came into the room. She saw her colleague being yelled at, and she just kept quiet in her place. Regina felt bad for her, actually, but defending her wouldn’t be good in this state, wouldn’t it? Lyla looked furious.
“Madam.” Regina approached her slowly; she couldn’t be reckless while assisting her. “Mr. Valentini is at work, but he will be back soon,” Regina said to calm and ease her worry.
“Don’t I know that?! I said, call him. Right now!” Lyla screamed in front of her face. She already looked like a mad woman, going crazy about a maid packing her bag.
“I will try to call him, Madam. Should I bring you a glass of water?” Regina offered, assisting her was the most important thing to do. Other than that, it was not her job.
“No. Didn’t you hear me?” Lyla shot her eyes to Regina, reddened from holding back her tears. She was trying to hold herself together. But the more she waited, the more anxious she became. Her mind was jumbled, thinking of the worst case possible. If she didn’t talk to Zeno right now, she might actually go crazy.
“I hear you, Madam. Let me try to call your husband,” Regina said, and again, it sounded like an excuse. She doubted herself that she could reach him at the moment, not sure if her call would go through at the first try.
Regina pulled out her phone and dialed Zeno’s personal number. It went straight to voicemail. So, she knew it was a fail to call him even if she did it again and again. Instead of calling her boss again, Regina used another way, which was calling his men. She could call them all, one by one until she knew about Zeno’s whereabouts. But nobody were strangely picking up.
Regina glanced at Lyla nervously; now she was sweating. She thought she had the situation under control, apparently not. She gulped when Lyla caught her eye, and that was not a good feeling.
“He’s not picking up? Leave my room now. No one could come into my room unless it’s my husband. Do you hear me?” Lyla looked at them one by one, and then glared toward the door, silently telling them to leave. “And don’t you dare touch my stuff again.”
“Understood, Madam,” the two of them replied; they didn’t dare to make eye contact with her. They left the room right away, scurrying, to be exact. They didn’t understand when their madam sudden outburst. They wondered what they did wrong, and they couldn’t think of one. They were doing fine at breakfast, still chatting warmly. It all turned when she walked into her room and saw Julia packing her bag.
Once she was alone in the big room. She sat down on the sofa extender in front of the bed. She sat with her legs curled up, and then hugged them. A rush of overwhelming feeling of being discarded filled her mind. The fear was beyond stoppable now. She couldn't think straight anymore.
But outside of her room, Regina and Julia stayed. Well, they felt confused. On top of Lyla's sudden outburst, no one was answering Regina's call. What the hell were they doing being offline at the same time?
"Did you try Mister Blec? He should be with Mr. Valentini all the time," Julia voiced out.
"Of course, I tried. But none of them was picking up my call," Regina growled frustratedly. She eyed the bedroom door; the room was quiet. She wondered what Lyla was doing inside. She was fine, right? She should be, or Regina was the first one to be hanged to death by Zeno.
"Rather than worrying about them not picking up the call, I'm more worried about Madam's condition," Regina said, her eyes darted from the door to the vibrating phone in her hand. Finally, somebody called back!
"What is it, Regina? Make it quick?" The rush in his voice was clear, letting her know that he was in the middle of something important.
"I think Mr. Valentini should come home right now. Madam is having a breakdown, and she wants to see him," Regina informed him right to the point. But instead of getting a reply, the line went dead silent. "The hell?" Regina was flabbergasted by it, and he made sure the call really ended, and it did.
