Chapter 141 Announcement
Chapter 141 Announcement
Sparkle
My mouth hangs open, what I would never have believed in a hundred years if someone told me I was a descendant of a wolf. I mean how? And how did my parents keep that secret for so long? Did they hope that we would never find out? Were our wolf genes never expected to kick in?
“So when were you going to tell me about this?” I exploded as I struggled to latch my baby. I just gave birth and instead of a celebration I was hearing for the first time that I was of werewolf descent, I couldn’t regulate my emotions,
“I’m sorry you had to hear this now. I didn’t plan on bringing it up just when you had a baby.” She apologized.
“Sparkle, do you want her to give you a little space?” Dalton said to Sparkle.
“I’m sorry what? You called and brought me here and now you want to kick me out?” Mrs. Engler rose to her feet and grabbed her coat, “I’m not going to be going back home in this bad weather, as you can see, my daughter just had a baby so I will be staying here with her.”
“No need to get all defensive, Mom, you are the one in the wrong here. You kept this secret away from me only to drop it now.” I yelled.
“Did you bring me here to yell at me?” She charged at me. “Your dad and I grew far away from here, we’ve always been wolfless, we accepted our fate and lived normal lives, it’s not our fault that we were wolfless but the Roux family thought it wise to displace wolves like us.”
“Mrs. Engler, if you’re wolfless it only means that your ancestors crossed with humans and caused the wolf genes to become dormant, your father must have known this but chose never to tell you.” Dalton tried to defend his family name.
“Breeding with humans was so wrong back then so what changed now? Are you planning to send my daughter away too?”
“Stop it, mom!” I interjected, “Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about me or my children being wolfless, I got my wolf a few weeks ago.”
Dalton darted his eyebrows and purred for joy. “I knew it! I suspected it. Oh my goodness! We have to celebrate that. I will throw a huge banquet”
My mother gasped and grabbed my shoulders, “Are you serious?” I nodded with tears in my eyes. “Oh my god!” She exclaimed. “Your dad has to know about this!”
“Stop it, Mom. You can tell him on your way out of here, most people here don’t even know that I wasn’t a wolf in the first place. So now that I have my wolf, I can’t be too loud about it.”
She let out a sigh and took a few steps back, “Then I will be as discreet as possible.” She hurried out of the room leaving me and Dalton and a few patrons. Dalton tried to help me latch my pup but he had no idea how it was supposed to be done, so my nurse stepped in to help me latch him properly and stop him from crying some more.
“Dalton,”
“Sparkle?”
“I think you should call Lucy and thank her, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her, I probably wouldn’t have made it at all, I found myself in a very dangerous position,” I said to him,
“I’m so sorry, Spark, I never meant to be separated from you, but things got out of control.”
“I understand,” I replied, placing my hands on his, “I know things were out of control, and Lucy could have chosen not to help but she put all our differences aside, and did what she had to do, that’s why I want you to call her and express your gratitude.”
He looked reluctant at first but I was relentless, I wanted Lucy to feel my gratitude, and to know I’m keeping no malice towards her,
“Okay, for your sake, I’ll do it.” He succumbed.
“Thank you Dalton, I love you so much!”
“I love you too Spark, I love you so much. You gave me life and now you’ve made me a Dad. I can never appreciate you enough.” He said as he planted a kiss on my lips,
“I appreciate you too. I thought I would never be a mom or be loved genuinely, but you showed me that I'm worth it all and more.” I replied. I tried to hug him but the pup cooed a little, we both looked at him and laughed.
“Okay first things first, I will call Lucy, after we’re through with that, we can proceed to the next thing.” He announced as he moved closer and sat on the edge of the bed. I shifted to make room for him.”
But before he could grab his phone, the door flung open, Edmund majestically walked in, “Congratulations, Alpha! You’re a complete leader now!” He said proudly to Dalton who instinctively patted my shoulder,
“All thanks to her,”
Edmund bowed slightly before me, “Greetings my dear Luna,”
I was clueless on how to respond so I went informal and only nodded, “Hello, Edmund,”
“Dalton, the news has already spread, the reporters have flooded the outer courts to confirm the news, you have to come out and address them,” Edmund said.
“I just became a father! Can’t I rest? I have urgent things to attend to.” Dalton argued.
“But the news needs to be confirmed, an heir has been born, this is important information,” Edmund insisted.
“You know it’s important but you also know making sure that my Luna is alright is also important to me.”
“Dalton is okay, you can go, just let my mom and my dad in. I will be fine.” I tried to assure him so he could go and address his people but Dalton didn’t seem like he wanted to move an inch.
“Edmund, I would like you to do this on my behalf,” he tried to plead, but Edmund was adamant.
“There are some things you have to do yourself,”
“Dalton just go, it will probably be over in a few minutes,” I said.
“Okay fine. I will just go,” he gave up and started to head out but Edmund stopped him once again, “You can’t address the people in those clothes!” Dalton turned around and growled at him, Edmund growled back.
“You guys are keeping my pup up,” I scolded them. They both stopped but wouldn’t stop hissing at each other but Dalton suddenly stopped and turned to me.
“Spark, I have something sweet to tell you when I return,”
“Really?”
“Yes, you just wait,” he kissed my forehead, and he hurried out, as I sat on the bed thinking about what he was going to say. Is it about our son? Is it about my parents? What could he possibly be waiting to say? I hate suspense, why didn’t I force this guy to just talk before leaving? Now it’s going to be an hour of sitting here and wondering what he wants to tell me. Sigh!
