Chapter 14 – Stuck on You

“NO, KATE, please open your eyes! I beg you! Don’t leave Daddy!”

Blaze kneeled on the floor with his daughter’s lifeless body in his arms. His shoulders shook as he wept. “I should not have left when you tried to stop me. I should have stayed here with you and your mother. That way, I could have protected the both of you. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” he added as he stood up with Kate and walked towards his wife. He carried both of them on his shoulders and was about to leave the spacious living room when his servants stopped him.

“We should bury the bodies now, your highness.”

His eyes narrowed with fury and grief. “No! I will never allow anyone of you to touch them! I will bring them back to life! I will-“

“But that is a crime against nature, your highness!” His servants said, their eyes filled with terror. “Even if you bring them back, they would never be the same again. They are already dead.”

“Take back what you said! They are not dead!” When Blaze raised his voice, the floor cracked. His eye color became blood red, his fangs stretched, and his nails grew longer. “Tell me who did this!” he roared.

“I-it was Lady Sylvia, your highness. She was the last person who met with Madam Danielle and Princess Kate. She compelled them and put them to sleep to get their blood through a dagger. It was only a small cut in their hands, but the dagger she used had dark magic in it. And when they died, Lady Sylvia freaked out and ran away.”

“You are lying! Sylvia would never do that to me!” he roared. “I would discover the truth myself right this minute. I will make sure to bury the culprit alive.” He closed his eyes and tried to create a spell as he embraced the two most important women in his life.

“Your highness, you are wounded because of the hunt. You should not cast a spell. It is dangerous for your body.”

“Shut up!”

Blaze’s nose bled but he did not stop casting the spell. His body was injured from the recent battle he had with the Rogues and his emotions were unstable which was causing the wind to blow stronger. The walls cracked; and the vines from the trees near the house broke the windows and surrounded his servants’ bodies. They tried to break free, but they couldn’t remove the vines. The vines were strangling them, but he was unaware of those things.

A man suddenly appeared and shook Blaze’s shoulders.

“Blaze, I command you to stop this right this instant! You are hurting yourself and your servants!”

But when he did not move, the stranger slapped him hard in the face. When Blaze finally opened his eyes, the strong winds stopped, and the vines disappeared. A tear fell from his eye. “I-it was Sylvia. It r-really was her, Your Majesty. I saw it from the spell I conducted. She killed my wife and my daughter.”

Mikaela was crying when she woke up. Through her dreams, she was able to see the real man behind Blaze Stevens, behind the person who was sleeping next to her. She didn’t know what was happening and why she suddenly had a dream about his past.

But she needed that dream. Because she needed to know him. She needed to understand why his aura would change with the mere mention of her mother. She needed to understand why strange things had been happening ever since she met him.

Mikaela wanted to get to know Blaze, but she never thought that she would get to know him this way. His life unfolded before her. It was like she was watching a movie where all the important events in his life were showing. She discovered that he was born and raised in Canada. In their world, he was the most powerful among the Vampires, Werewolves, and even Mages, surpassing the strength of the Night King himself and was still known as the Prince of the North by some of the Vampires and Wolves.

Blaze was the seventh member of the Highest Council who had made significant contributions in the war against the Rogues. But in the human world, he was the billionaire Blaze Stevens who owned hotel chains in and out of the country and also the man behind Stevens Land Corporation, the biggest real estate Corporation in the country. And all of those businesses were managed by his trusted subordinates.

Blaze was currently staying in the Philippines after news had spread among the supernatural beings that Cain Del Roman, his mentor, was about to wake up anytime soon.

She also saw some of his happy memories including the day he married a woman named Danielle and when Kate was born. But that was short-lived because Blaze only got to be with them for almost eight years.

“Tell your precious daughter to be wary of strangers. Because once I catch her, I swear I will ruin her, Sylvia. I would not stop until I make you and every person you love pay tenfold.”

She flinched upon remembering Blaze’s conversation with her mother. She stared at his sleeping face. After breakfast, they did it twice in the morning until she fell asleep again that’s why she didn’t know what else happened. Despite the things she had discovered, watching him sleep still felt like a blessing because he never had a proper sleep after his family died.

Blaze had a contented look on his face. There was a slight smile on his lips while embracing her so tightly as if even in his sleep, he didn’t want to let her go. It looked like he removed her pillow and made his arm her pillow instead while his other arm was on her waist. Their naked bodies were brushing against each other that she could feel his heartbeat. And amid the pain, feeling his heartbeat was like a healing balm to her wounds.

There were red flags from the start. And she did notice them, but those were not enough to stop her. Mikaela had been warned many times to avoid him. Blaze himself had warned her, too. But despite all that, like a fool, she stayed. And she knew if she were to go back to the past, she would still make the same choice because being with him made her feel the most alive.

Her whole life, she had found it hard to breathe because of the shackles her mother surrounded her with. And now, she knew it was to protect her from Blaze. They had to move from one place to another because Sylvia was afraid that she would be found. She did not want Mikaela to leave their hometown because she was worried that Blaze or his servants might spot her and catch her since she and her mother were carbon copies.

But all those things made life suffocating for Mikaela. With Blaze, she felt like she could finally breathe easily. And until now, she still felt the same. When their bodies joined together, she felt complete, like she had achieved her purpose in life.

For some reason, it was like Blaze… completed her. He completed her whole being. And despite knowing how this would end, she still didn’t know if she could bear to part with him. She was still shocked by the things she had discovered. Knowing that there were other beings than humans was still a lot to take in just one day. She was afraid, but she was not in a position to judge. How could she do that when she was different, too? Not to mention that her mother was once a Vampire and with a criminal record at that.

She sighed and softly caressed Blaze’s cheeks. Somehow, she could understand where his anger was coming from. Her eyes welled up in tears.

“I’m sorry for what my Mom did to you and your family. I wish there’s a way I could make it up to you, a way to lessen your pain.”

Mikaela quietly and gently removed Blaze’s arm on her waist. She got up on the bed and covered herself with a blanket which she saw on the floor since there was nothing else she could use aside from it.

She was expecting that her body would be sore and exhausted after making love with him many times, but surprisingly, she felt invigorated despite having only a few hours of sleep. Was it because of Blaze’s mana? Her body had never felt so light before as if she had drunk tons of energy drink.

After a while, Mikaela shook her head and grabbed her purse on the bedside table before leaving the room. That was when she realized that they were on the third floor. She closed the door and yet, she could not move after seeing a huge portrait of Danielle and Kate hanging on the wall. They were both smiling while embracing each other. Kate had Blaze’s eyes and hair. She looked so adorable.

Her chest constricted and her hands trembled. She didn’t see it last night because it was dark when Blaze carried her upstairs. She stared at Danielle who had a Werewolf blood. She saw her transformed into a brown wolf in one of Blaze’s memories. She was a lovely woman with golden skin, golden curly hair, gorgeous amber eyes, and a captivating smile like she was endorsing a toothpaste brand.

She was still looking at the portrait when she felt her phone inside the purse vibrated. It was her mother on the other line. She didn’t know what to feel about her mother yet, but she still found herself clicking the answer button.

“Mikaela, I’m glad you finally answered!” Sylvia said while crying. “I’m so glad you’re alive! How are you? Are you safe? Did Blaze do anything to you? Where are you? Tell me, darling, please. Mommy will pick you up. I will save you no matter what.”

“I’m fine, Mom. Nothing happened to me. So, don’t worry too much, okay? I’m sorry about not calling you right away. I promise we will talk later when I get home-“

“And who said you are going home?” Blaze’s voice suddenly thundered around the house that Mikaela almost jumped out of shock. Since when was he awake? She swallowed as he walked towards her. The dangerous glint in his eyes was back. “I warned you never to trust strangers so easily, Mikaela. You did not listen to me. Now you and I are stuck on each other. You won’t be going home. Ever.”
