Chapter 122
Zayden
Five months later
I was going through the documents for our project, the expansion of our jewellery shop. I had built another branch in California, and now I'm constructing another in New York. The jewellery shop was making waves; It got to the point that I now had to start shipping in new jewellery every two days.
Oliver was still the CEO of Kent Tech. Lillian had tried convincing me to take it back; it was rightly mine anyway, but I refused. Besides, Oliver was handling it pretty well.
For me, going back there felt suffocating, like I was offering myself over to my father's clutches again. I preferred running the jewellery shop with Lillian, and I have big plans for our business. I'll leave the company to Oliver and Jade.
Speaking of which, they were getting married because Jade got pregnant. I knew she would get pregnant eventually from the start because, obviously, they weren't careful enough, and Oliver was also a horny freak like Me.
Now, I'm the one giving him tips on fatherhood, and with Lillian expecting another baby, it only added to my pride.
Yes, we found out about the pregnancy a week ago, and hopefully, this time, it will be a boy, and I'll be there till he comes into this world and watch till he grows up.
So far, our lives have been perfect. Laura was one now, her birthday was a blast. She will be starting pre-nursery school next summer. Lillian doesn't want that, though; she says she's still too young and she is still learning how to talk.
The only thing she could say was mama, dada and broki...meaning broccoli.
I don't know how she learnt that but currently, broccoli is her new favourite thing.
We were still deciding whether to send her to school now or wait till she was two. Besides, we had about one more month before summer, so there was time to decide about that. For now, Lillian does the job of teaching her simple and basic things.
I had gone to see Aiden more than once. The first time, I was tensed, but I no longer held any grudge against him, and fortunately, we were now on good terms.
He broke down after I explained in detail all that my father did. He regretted his actions, all of it but what's done is done.
We can't change his sentence, except Lillian is willing to drop charges against him, but she's against it because of Falco's death.
Still, we go together sometimes to see him, at least Laura gets to know her uncle. As for Sage, she wasn't doing well.
Medical reports show that she's suffering from depression and probably PTSD. Visits and constantly keeping her company weren't working. We can't just drop charges against her because she killed someone and nearly killed Lillian.
I can't forgive that so the least we can do is provide her with as much help as she could get. The government granted her release once a week to interact with nature and people while being under surveillance, as suggested by a professional therapist.
Her health was monitored, and gradually, she was doing better. Her father was heartless just like my own father. He disappeared after he was fired by Oliver and has refused to show face ever since then.
No one knew if he was even alive or not. As for my father, he doesn't deserve my presence so I left him to rot in prison.
I did think about finding my real father but shoved it out of my mind immediately. He knows who I am, so if he doesn't come find me, then I won't make any moves.
I have no grudge against him it's just that he had never been part of my life, and I don't think he could be.
I don't need him; when I did, he wasn't there, so there's no use searching for someone who I barely know his name or face.
I closed the paperwork and stretched my limbs. I was exhausted. I looked over at the clock, I should probably start closing for the day.
My phone made a beep sound and I grabbed it immediately. I clicked on the notification and a smile appeared on my face. Lillian just sent me a photo of her and Laura. Laura had my eyes, but her hair, which was put in two ponytails wrapped in white bows, was dark red. I have a feeling that Once she's older, her hair will be a brighter shade of red, just like her mother's.
I bite down on my lips. Damn! They were beautiful; the photo just filled me with energy and the next moment, I got to my feet. I'm packing up and going home to my wife this instant.
I left the shop to our clerk and Brenda to close up by 9 and then I hit the road.
I got home to a good meal with my family. Lillian was literally now a complete housewife, especially since she was pregnant. I wasn't complaining, I didn't even want her to lift a finger, and that's why Noah was living with us and helping out.
After dinner, I rocked Laura to sleep and joined Lillian in bed.
I wrapped her in my arms and we remained still. That night, I had another good sleep with Lillian at my side and Laura in between us. The perfect little family.
I've always wanted this.
I've always wanted this feeling of happiness, fulfilment and love. So much has happened over the past year, but here I am.
Just a year ago I was convinced that I had no hope of finding love or even settling down. I lost hope that I would ever be happy because that's what they've made me believe all my life. That I would never find a woman to love me and that I don't deserve to be happy but there is something I've learned over time.
Everyone deserves happiness, be it heroes or villains, angels or Devils.
Happiness and love is a universal thing and anyone can get it with the right person. I found mine with Lillian. Despite all that we've been through, all the struggles, the pain, the misunderstandings, the trauma, the endurance. She was there for me and I was there for her.
She waited a whole year for me and I'll wait all eternity for her.
She healed my scars and I took away her nightmares. We were a match made in heaven and in hell.
She's my life source, and with her, I'll get that happy ending I've always wanted.
Even if I'm the villain, I wrote my own story; we wrote our story.
And in that story, I get my happy ending.
We get our happy ending.
I get the happiness I deserve.
