Chapter 17 Signed Away My Soul

Chapter 17 Signed Away My Soul

Evelyn’s POV

The paper trembled in my hand, its weight heavier than it should have been. I lifted my head meeting Lorenzo’s gaze. His eyes were fixed on me, sharp, expectant, unbearable. He didn’t blink, didn’t move, just watched. Waiting.

“What the hell is this?” I asked, my voice cracking under the pressure sitting in my chest.

He didn’t answer.

“Lorenzo,” I tried again, forcing air into my lungs. “Can you talk to me?”

He scoffed harshly. “Don’t tell me that you can’t read.”

My jaw clenched, flicking the document in his face. “Of course I can.” I opened it again, running my eyes through it. “What I don’t understand is what this is supposed to mean.”

The words on the page blurred, but one line refused to fade “Agreement of Ownership and Submission.” I read it out loud, barely recognizing my own voice.

God. I wanted to scream. I wanted to wake up from these nightmares. The way it was written, like I was some kind of property he was about to purchase, nothing felt reasonable here.

The rules. The conditions.

Agreeing to this was just a way to sign out my soul to the devil. Is this what he meant by giving humans their needs and asking for their lives in return?

Was he going to kill me after getting his powers?

I looked up at him. “No. I’m never signing this.”

His expression didn’t change. He looked calm, too calm. “No, Eve. You will, and it is a must.”

My throat went dry. “No.”

He moved closer until I could feel his breath against my cheek. His eyes were dark, the kind of darkness that could swallow a person whole.

“Once you sign this,” His voice dropped, low and  firm. “You will belong to me. Your soul, your body, every inch of you will be mine.”

The air around us thickened.

“You have to read the rules carefully,” he said, pointing at the paper with his chin. “The first rule, you will have to say yes to everything I tell you, no safe words.”

His body edged even closer, leaving no space between us. Just heat, breath, and inevitability.

“Secondly,” he murmured, voice low with authority, “you must live under this roof with me for one full year, until the next full moon rises.”

He paused. The silence was heavy before his words came again.

“And lastly, once this agreement is sealed, you will sever every tie with any other man. From that moment on, I alone will have the right to touch you. I alone will know your body, its secrets, its surrender.”

I stared at him in disbelief. “You’re insane.”

He smiled faintly. “Maybe. But you’re still signing it.”

I was speechless, my mind completely blank. It took a moment before I could finally force out a single word.

“You’re joking, right?”

He chuckled, low and bitter. “No, darling. I have never been this serious.”

Fury surged in my chest. “Is this even legal?” I asked in a tiny voice. “Keeping me here against my will?”

He tilted his head, studying me. “You think laws matter to me?” His tone was almost amused. “No, Evelyn. What matters is control. Obedience.”

I took a deep breath, fighting the heat crawling up my skin. “You can’t just force me into this.”

He arched his brow. “Can’t I?”

I shut my eyes, prayers running through my mind, wishing that if I opened them, he would vanish and I would have my life back. But when I opened them, he was still standing there, emotionless.

I had seen that face before. There was nothing I could do or say to come out of this one. I had to agree, not like I had any other choice.

But before that, I needed to strike a bargain. I couldn’t sacrifice all this without asking for something in return.

My eyes shot up, staring right into his soul. “I will only do it under one condition.”

He scoffed, eyes locked on mine, unblinking.

“Go on,” he murmured. “Let’s hear what you think you have to say.”

“I’ll still need to visit the orphanage,” I said quietly. “Those kids need me. I have to be there for them.”

“Never!” he blurted out.

“Then I’m never signing this.”

He went quiet, searching my eyes as if deciding whether to give in.

For a moment, I thought he’d snap, tear the paper in half, or worse, tear me apart. But instead, he just stared. His jaw tightened, his breath steady but sharp.

Then, with a heavy exhale, “Fine,” he said finally. “But I will have to go with you wherever you go. I wouldn’t want my enemies to get to you.”

I swallowed, giving a slow nod. “Deal.”

He hissed. “Now sign the damn thing.”

My fists curled on the document, The paper blurred through the tears burning behind my eyes. I spread the pages open, searched through them once more, and brought out the pen hanging at the edge. My fingers trembled as I began to inscribe letters on the lines.

Even though I hated this, I felt relieved. At least I would be close to the kids again. They were the only reason I fought so hard in life. Watching them smile always gave me hope, and if agreeing to this would let me see them again, then I would do it over and over.

After I was done, I turned back to Lorenzo and handed the documents over, but he didn’t take them immediately.

His breath fanned my lips. “Good girl.”

He took the papers from me and tossed them to the side without breaking eye contact.

My chest rose and fell in uneven rhythm, shivers racing down my spine. The air between us crackled with a tension I couldn’t escape.

Why do I despise him….. yet every time he comes this close, my body betrays me completely?

I hate it.

God, I hate him.

But most of all, I hate that no matter how much I try to fight it…. I feel this way about him.

“From this moment forward, you are my mistress,” he said softly, yet with absolute authority. “So start thinking of how you’re going to please me.”

I swallowed hard, my eyes not leaving his.

“I don’t think I can….”

“Shhh.” He raised a finger.

Lorenzo drifted from me, and in two long strides, he was on the bed, his eyes trailing over me like he was going to strip me bare just with it.

“I want to feel every inch of you…. come over and sit on my cock.”

I didn’t move. How could I possibly agree to those stupid terms?

He shut me up with a dark glare. “Don’t forget you already signed the papers, Eve.”

I inhaled deeply, the weight of it crushing me from the inside.

So this is what it means to sell your soul to the devil? no will, no freedom, just submission.

And in that moment, I knew….I had no choice but to obey.
