Chapter 133 CHAPTER 133

Chapter 133 CHAPTER 133
Soren stands on his tiptoes to help the Enigma with his tie while Reign's eyes stay totally fixed on him as if he's the only thing that exists in the world. Soren tries to flush redder than he already is as he stays focused on knotting the perfect tie.

“If you continue to stare at me like that, you'll have to cancel another meeting, Mr. Montgomery. I bet you can't afford that,” Soren says, lifting his eyes quickly to meet Reign's eyes for a minute. He smirks when he sees the way the Enigma's eyes darken.

Instead of answering, Reign's arm goes around his slender waist and pulls him flushed against his body. Soren finds himself standing on the alpha's shoes, just to meet his height, even though it was a hopeless attempt.

Reign's eyes flicker down to his lips, and slowly, his hand goes under his chin, lifting his face before leaning down to capture his lips in a kiss that draws all the breath out of Soren's lungs while his toes curl and his hands clench on Reign's shoulder.

Soren feels giddy and warm inside as he lets himself get lost in the kiss, tilting his head and giving the man more access to his mouth, but that's when a knock echoes loudly in the room, forcing the two apart.

Soren licks his lips and gulps when he sees the look of desire in Reign's eyes. Recently, Soren has become better at reading the man. He smiles and smooths the part of the man's suit he had clenched and steps off his shoes. “That must be Monroe. You should get going.”

“I'll see you later,” Reign whispers, and Soren nods a little too eagerly, and with one final kiss on his cheek, he leaves the room while Soren stands there, grinning like a fool. He doesn't think he can ever get used to this feeling of being in love and being loved back.

It's phenomenal.

Soren giggles to himself and walks back to the bed, dropping with a soft thud and curling himself in the sheets that smell like the Enigma, and it smells like home, and Soren never thought he was going to ever find a home outside of Iris and his mother.

Soren stays curled in the sheets for a long time, basking in the Enigma’s scent until he’s had enough, and finally, he decides to step out of the room, but the moment he does, a gasp escapes his lips, and he abruptly comes to a stop at the sight of Monroe standing there like a statue.

Soren places a hand over his chest. “You scared me, Monroe," he tells the beta and proceeds to walk down the hall while the beta follows closely from behind. Soren has no idea why he isn't with his boss.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Fox. I’m glad to have finally gotten a hold of you. Now, we can finally discuss your schedule for today.”

Soren almost facepalms as reality hits him in the face. Now he knows why the beta has been trailing behind him like a fucking shadow. “Can we reschedule?”

“We can’t, Mr. Fox. This is a campaign that is important for Reign’s image. You have already rescheduled for the third time. We can’t reschedule any further,” Monroe tells him firmly.

Soren tsks at the deadpan tone of the beta. He pauses and sharply turns to him. “Alright, alright. There’s no need to get your pants in a twist. I’m going to do it. How hard is it going to be standing in front of cameras and looking pretty? That’s why Reign signed me as his fiancé, isn’t it?” he says, rolling his eyes.

With that, he turns and proceeds down the hall, and this time, Monroe doesn’t follow; instead, he immediately makes a call to have Soren’s outfit prepared, already knowing that getting the Omega through the campaign is going to be far more difficult than simply getting him dressed and in front of a camera.

~~~
“Mr. Fox. Can you strike a different pose?”
Soren tsks in annoyance at the photographer’s order. At this point, he’s practically a model, and the same suit is clinging to his body a little too tightly. His hands are itching to rip it off, but he has to go through with this torture of flashing lights and being told to stand in a thousand and one poses.
And for one, Soren can’t escape because Monroe is standing there at the corner, watching him like a hawk. At this point, Soren is starting to think the beta has officially become his manager without his knowledge. He tsks in annoyance again and stares back at the camera, reluctantly striking a different pose as instructed.
“Good. Hold that.”
Soren forces a smile, even though his patience is rapidly running out. How many more poses are there? He glances briefly toward Monroe, only to find the beta already checking something on his phone.
Definitely his manager.
Soren rolls his eyes and turns his attention back to the camera, silently praying this torture will end soon.
“Let’s take five!” the photographer suddenly yells, and Soren has never been so thankful for a little break as he immediately walks off from the backdrop while loosening his suffocating tie the second he clears the line of sight of the flash umbrellas.
He makes a beeline for the lounge setup at the far end of the studio, collapsing onto the leather sofa with a dramatically loud groan, and soon, Monroe appears in front of him, holding a bottle of water that Soren accepts with a roll of his eyes.
“I’ll let you make a little break. Let me know if there’s anything you need,” the beta says sternly before turning to walk off while Soren resists the urge to throw the damn bottle at his back. Soren might have been able to melt the cold-melted Enigma; taming his beta secretary is a completely different story.
He curses under his breath and opens the water, bringing it to his lips, but then, in the moment he takes a sip, he hears the sound of his name from a familiar voice.
“Soren,”
Soren snaps his head to the side in an instant; his eyes widen, and in the next moment, he’s choking on his water, coughing violently for a second before he sharply stands to his feet at the sight of his mother and sister.
