Chapter 131 CHAPTER 131
Chapter 131 CHAPTER 131
“That is not funny, Castiel.”
Castiel almost shivers at the coldness behind the way the alpha said his name. He knows Theo won’t cheat on him, but that doesn't stop the green-eyed monster from eating through his veins at seeing him so damn close. And both, Castiel is here to apologize, not make things worse.
With a sigh, he walks around the table to Theo’s side and turns his chair so they're looking at each other properly. “Is Alpha still mad at me?”
Theo stares at him. “Not mad, just disappointed,” he says and tries to look away, but Castiel grabs him by the tie and forces him back in place.
“Don’t look away from me, alpha; let me fix it,” Castiel whispers, his voice dropping into a soft, vulnerable tone that cuts straight through the lingering tension in the room. He releases the tie, but before Theo can move, he steps into the narrow space between the Alpha’s parted knees and settles himself right onto Theo’s lap.
Theo’s breath hitches and his hands twitch at his sides, fighting the instinct to instantly wrap around Castiel’s waist, but the magnetic pull of his mate is so strong that he loses the battle, and slowly, his large, warm hands find the small of Castiel’s back, anchoring him securely.
“I didn’t do it, Theo,” Castiel admits quietly, resting his forehead against the crook of Theo’s neck, inhaling the deep, Alpha scent he had craved for two agonizing nights. “I didn’t poison Caspian. And I am sorry I lied about it. I hate him so much, but I would never stain my hands with blood. I was just mad and overwhelmed. I’m sorry I ever made you feel that I don't trust you. I trust you more than I trust myself. Believe me, alpha. Omega is sorry.”
Theo’s entire frame goes completely rigid beneath him for a second. “What? If you didn't do it, then who did?”
Castiel pulls away from the alpha’s neck, a pout on his lips and a disappointed look in his eyes, and the alpha only caught that part of his words after everything he said. “I wanted to feel like I had control over something, but it wasn’t me. Warren came to the boutique today... he was the one who did it. He’s been messing with my head, trying to get me into betraying you by sleeping with some filthy alphas just to bring down the McLaren. He’s crazy if he ever thought I was going to agree to his shit.”
Castiel keeps talking, but the air in the room suddenly drops ten degrees in an instant, and the relief that was once flooding through Theo’s veins violently curdles into murderous fury as his dark eyes flash, the ring around his pupils flaring bright as his Alpha instinct violently snaps to attention.
He looks into Castiel’s eyes with a dark look that makes the omega gulp and shiver violently, his omega instinct already on the verge of forcing him into submission. “He what? How long has this been going on?”
“Ever since you took over the Rosier empire,” Castiel murmurs, guilt in his voice as he realizes Warren has been pestering him for months and he never told Theo, even when he said he would. Castiel curses in his head when he sees the stern look the alpha is giving, and before he can say anything, Castiel beats him to it. “I told him he was insane. I would never—”
“I know you wouldn’t,” Theo interrupts, his voice deceptively quiet, but the muscle jumping in his jaw tells a different story.
Before Castiel can utter another word of defense, Theo grabs his waist with both hands, lifts him effortlessly, and makes him sit on the table before getting between his legs and trapping him between his body and the table. Castiel gulps at the fierce burning through the alpha’s eyes, and the dominance in pheromones hasn't lessened.
“I know you wouldn’t, Cas,” Theo continues, his jaw clenching further. “That’s not what’s making my blood boil. What’s driving me out of my fucking mind is that he dared to manipulate you and that you kept it from me for months.”
“I’m sorry,” Castiel whispers softly, his tone completely stripped of its earlier bite. To soften the alpha, he moves in, burying his face in the crook of his neck and nuzzling his nose against Theo’s scent, then moving up to his temple, pressing soft, repeated kisses to the tight line of his jaw. “I thought I could handle him on my own. I was trying to prove I wasn’t weak or easily manipulated, Theo... but I was wrong. I should have told you. I’m sorry.”
Theo forces his eyes shut, pushing his anger and alpha instinct back while Castiel continues to pepper kisses along his jawline and neck until Theo grabs his shoulder and pulls him back, and their eyes meet. Castiel whimpers at his gaze. “This is going to be the last time you’ll hide something from me, Castiel. We’re mates; we’re going to be together forever. I can’t protect you if you’re hiding something from me.”
Castiel nods. “I already learned my lesson. I won’t do it again. Don’t be mad at me anymore.”
Theo lets out a sigh, and slowly, he moves in to press his forehead against Castiel, their breaths mixing. “You know I can never stay mad at you, Cas. You mean so much to me, and the thought of losing you scares the hell out of me.”
“You’re never going to lose me. I’m the one scared of pushing you away and losing you,” Castiel whispers back.
“I’m sorry for every doubting you. I’ve missed so much,” Theo continues, and then he cups Castiel’s face, stroking his face against his cheek before moving in to press a soft kiss on his lips that merely lasts for a second, and when he pulls back, Castiel’s whines at the loss and grabs the back of his head and pulls down for a proper kiss, something he’s been craving for the past two days. Castiel has no idea how he survived that long without his alpha by his side.
Theo smiles in the kiss and lets the omega take control as he then wraps his legs around his hips and moves him closer, while Theo braces him with a firm grip at the edge of the table. Castiel deepens the kiss, but that’s when Theo remembers something and immediately breaks the kiss, and immediately, Castiel chases after his lips, starved, but Theo chuckles and gently pushes him back by the shoulder.
“You brought lunch. I’m starving, omega. We can continue at home. I promise to make it worth your while,” he says, and moves in to give him one last peck that makes Castiel feel all gibby and warm inside.
Then his eyes light up as he gets off the table and grabs the lunchbox, prepared to serve his alpha, and you know, as the saying goes, ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.’
Castiel giggles to himself as he carries the lunch box after his Alpha. After two miserable nights without Theo, he finally has his Alpha back, and this time, he has no intention of letting him out of his sight anytime soon.
