You don't understand love

"Why are you leaving so soon?" Jareth asked Elena, who inquisitively glanced at him.

"Shouldn't you also leave with me? Father wants you back so that you can assist him in his

work," Elena asserted.

"I have to stay here because Apollyon needs me," Jareth stated.

"Since when did you start caring about him?" Elena arched her eyebrow in suspicion. "You know

something about the sorcerers, yet you don't want to share with Apollyon. I am intrigued by your

thoughtfulness toward him," she remarked and turned around on her heels.

"Elena, why were you here? You didn't either explain to me," Jareth asked with a hoarse voice.

"I wanted to see why Apollyon married a human. Who can understand the pain of losing love

more than me? I am assured that Lilith and Apollyon won't be separable," Elena replied and told

him to tell Apollyon she would always root for his love.

"Zephyr will be here for the feast, Elena. You know how much he loves you. Why don't you stay

for one more night here?" Jareth asked her.

Elena turned around to face him. "Jareth, don't set me up with your minions," she aggressively

said. "You could have saved my love from dying that day. However, you chose to stay quiet in

front of our Father," Elena muttered as she recalled the day she lost Uriel.

"More than thousands of years have passed and you are still latched onto your old love," Jareth

chuckled as he pitied her for getting so attached to a human.

"This is your problem, Jareth. You don't understand love because you never received it.

Hopefully, one day you encounter someone who will change your heart. Then, you'll understand

my pain. Don't be like Father," Elena annoyingly said as she calmed down. She couldn't either

blame Jareth for having such thoughts because he was emotionless from childhood.

"Tell Zephyr that I hate him," Elena stated and walked out of the chamber.

Jareth rolled his eyes and wondered what he should do about his siblings. "All of them have

such a soft spot for humans," he mumbled and rose to his feet.

It was the time for evening event and he didn't want to miss it. Most importantly, he was eager to

know how Lilith would be perceived by the devils. He entered the dressing chamber, checking

his attire for the evening. He untied the knot of the velvet bathrobe and started dressing.

Standing in front of the mirror, he looked for the hairbrush.

"Lord Jareth, should I help you?" He heard the voice of the maidservant from outside.

"Sure," Jareth replied and doors slid in.

The maidservant walked in while Jareth seated on the chair in front of the mirror.

"I will brush Lord Jareth's hair," the maidservant informed him and picked up the hair brush. She

started brushing Jareth's hair while he delved into some thoughts.

When the maidservant was done, Jareth looked at himself in the mirror. He stood up and was

ready to leave when the maidservant stopped him. "Lord Jareth's collar is twisted from the

neck," she said.

Jareth reached out his hand to his neck when the maidservant ended up adjusting his collar.

Jareth angrily yanked her hand away. "Watch your hand, Human!" He snickered at her.

She quickly apologized when Jareth asked her not to show his face to her.

"But I am appointed for–" she paused as Jareth interjected her.

"Do you have a death wish? Leave before I take your soul away," Jareth's angry voice reached

her ears and she ran out without thinking twice.

Jareth ran his fingers through his lustrous raven hair, emerging from the dressing room with an

air of confidence. As he stepped into the chamber, he noticed Ragnar looking at him with a

quizzical expression.

"Did you just scare a human? She was crying," Ragnar complained.

"Why do you always come to me advocating about humans?" Jareth asked, his tone tinged with

bitterness. "Why was she even appointed for my service?" He muttered.

"Lilith asked Karin to appoint humans for our service," Ragnar informed him.

"Who can anger me except Queen Lilith!?" Jareth chuckled and began walking. Ragnar followed

his elder brother, their footsteps echoing in the corridors of the "Enchanted Hall."

"Elena has left not to hell though," Jareth informed him.

"Why did she leave out of the blue?" Ragnar asked.

"Elena said she found her answers. Lilith and Apollyon are inseparable," Jareth repeated the

same words, which Elena told him and rolled his eyes. "She still believes I was somehow

involved in her lover's death. Mortals and immortals can never truly be together. She should

have known this, considering our own father married a mortal, thinking he loved her," he

proclaimed.

Ragnar sensed that Jareth had unresolved emotions towards Apollyon's mother, which had

unexpectedly surfaced.

"I don't have anything against Apollyon's mother," Jareth stated, clarifying Ragnar's doubt.

"Then, why do you hate humans? You do have faith in some humans but to others, you are

always rude. I am curious to know," Ragnar stated, waiting for his brother's response.

"That's difficult for me to answer," Jareth replied with a hint of introspection. "Besides, that

human tried to touch me. You know I despise foreign touches. She was fortunate not to be

scorched," he muttered, showing annoyance at the memory.

As they approached the hallway leading to the "Enchanted Hall," they were greeted by the warm

glow of golden shimmering lanterns, casting a magical ambiance upon their path.

"Well, let's enjoy this evening, Ragnar. After a long time, we three brothers were seated together

with our kind of people," Jareth said with a wide smile. "I wish Apollyon doesn't focus on Lilith all

the time," he mumbled.

"Apollyon's attention will be on Lilith only. You know this well. You should be happy that we all

will be sitting together for the feast after a long time," Ragnar pronounced proudly. They entered

the Enchanted Hall, where the other devils had already arrived.

Seeing Jareth and Ragnar, they all rose to their feet in their respect and bowed to them.

Jareth took the seat first next to the King's throne while Ragnar sat on his left. "We are happy to

see all of you after a long time," Jareth pronounced and grabbed the chalice from the tray, which

the servant forwarded to him.

"But where are the King and the Queen? We heard the Queen is a human," Yulric, the Southern

Province Commander, asked.

"The Queen is the one, who woke up our King and broke the seal which kept you all buried in

darkness for thousands of years," Ragnar proclaimed.

"That means our Queen is a special person," said Octavian, the Central Province Head of the

Kingdom.

As the discussion continued, an announcement echoed through the hall, heralding the arrival of

the King and Queen. The assembled guests rose from their seats, their eyes eagerly turning

towards the entrance.

In a regal entrance, Apollyon strode in, adorned in a striking all-black attire. He paused, tilting

his head to catch a glimpse of Lilith. With a gentle gesture, he extended his hand towards her.

Lilith gracefully placed her hand above his, meeting his gaze with tender affection.

"You look mesmerizing, Lilith," Apollyon whispered, a warm smile gracing his lips.
