Chapter 59: Akarsto in danger

Liam clenched his fist around the wheel, which didn't make him feel relieved in any way, rather it made him angrier and his father's nonchalant stare was a sharp knife that cut through his heart. He fought back every form of tears and replaced them with a ruthless and cold gaze no one would dare want to toy with. He drove out of the mansion back to his company and headed over to the lab where Nicole and Lesso were patiently waiting for him.

" Hi Lesso",

" Hi Liam, I heard about the missing orb from Nicole not quite long ago", she said and they followed in deep into the lab with their lab coat.

" Yeah, I heard it's missing also",

" you heard or you knew it was missing", Nicole eyed him.

Liam sighed and turned to him,

" I knew it was missing",

" When",

" Some minutes before everyone gets aware",

" And do you care to tell us how it went missing?",

" someone swallowed it",

" Ehn?", Lesso was not only confused but also didn't buy what he was saying while Nicole shook his head scoffing,

" Stop joking around, what did you mean by that",

" Not like you were going to believe, I've deposited your pays into your respective account, we have some work to do",

" what gives you the impression I took it in the first place, it's not something one can just come close to and you've been on the site even before me", he paused and looked at him, "Did you think I'll take it without even you been aware?".

He's right, there's no how even five people would come closer to the orb not to talk of stealing it and no one would be aware. Nicole had no choice but to kill every suspicion he had towards Liam with tangible reasons.

" But why did you say someone swallowed it at first",

" Will talk about that later, we have more projects to do".

After the second investigation was done and the meeting with all the grim reapers was over, Riya walked to her department leader and bowed to her.

" Don't tell me you're still on your plan, Riya",

" Yes sir",

" With what excuse",

" with the excuse that I have to rely on a message to the king to halt the sending of the report to some circumstances",

" wow", the man dressed in a black robe burst into laughter, " I must say, that is very clever. I already thought that if you fail to bring me a reasonable lie for your permission I'm going to deny you of five pass. But as I thought, you are very clever".

" So no need of denying me of any pass",

" Of course, follow me", he said and took her to the main gate using his authority to command the guards to allow her to pass. Riya was very grateful to him, she bowed and walked out through the gate.

She was very cautious while on her way in case there was any danger lurking around and fortunately, she arrived at the palace in Akarsto safely. The king and the queen were very surprised at the visit, they welcomed her warmly and offered her a drink which she accepted before the real conversation started.

" To whom do we owe this surprise visit", the king asked with a smile,

" From a grim reaper to be precise",

" I've come to rely upon some important messages Your Majesty and Your Highness",

" Go on, I'm all ears", the king said,

" one of them requests for other parties, but the other is private".

The king understood fully well what she meant by that, he signaled the dismissal of his guards and other chiefs. When it's just the three of them, Riya began,

" Amelia is alive",

" what?!", they exclaimed,

"Are you certain of what you are saying?", The queen said with a hint of happiness and gratitude in her voice.

" that's not possible", the king said frowning,

" yes she is and she's one of the reasons why I'm here",

" What did she do?", the king asked with disdain,

" She didn't do anything, rather she revealed something that needs urgent attendance. Akarsto is in danger",

" What did you mean?", The queen asked with a furrowed brow, " and where's Amelia",

" she's somewhere safe, but her mirror was manipulated",

" stop confusing me Riya", the king said getting frustrated,

" her mirror was in black until recently when it started peeling and after some investigations, we realized the mirror can be manipulated by changing its color".

" oh my God!", they both exclaimed,

" and how's that even possible",

" that we don't know for sure but we want you to be very vigilant, you don't know who's who, who implicated her, and why?".

The king is shocked and perplexed, too shocked to say a word, and finds it hard to accept the truth but the grim reaper can't tell a lie. Now there's no one to trust.

" that's not all",

" what?!", the king exclaimed, " I'm still trying to recover from this shock and there's more",

" Be rest assured, the other one is to tell your majesty not to send a report yet as...",

" We already did",

" huh?",

"We sent Princess Lora, why? what's wrong?",

" no nothing, probably she'll just be arriving, I'd like to take my leave now", she said and stood up immediately. The king finds this suspicious but he sends her off nicely.

" My king, what are we supposed to do?",

" right now, I feel foolish",

" no, you are not, Your Majesty",

" I can't believe I've been deceived, who do I trust now, does that mean Allan was truly Murdered as Amelia insisted? What of Tania?",

" I'm having a deep regret also, I only stood as a queen and not as a mother, my aim and goal was fulfilling my duty to my people and neglected my duty as a mother", she said bowing in shame and regret, " will Amelia ever forgive me?",

" I'm sorry, it's all my fault",

" no, it's not, it was hard on both of us, banishing our child",

" I hope she forgives me, I've wronged her in every way",

" let's stop reflecting on our past mistakes for now, we did to uncover the truth, the only way we can earn her forgiveness is knowing who is who, the demons are amidst us in disguise",

" you are right", he said and thought deeply, " I'll get back to you my queen, there's something I need to confirm",

" okay my lord, I shall retire to my chamber for now, if you need anything please do not hesitate to call on me", she said and walked away.

The moment the queen was out of his sight, her whole facial expression changed.
