CHAPTER 13: - THE ENGAGEMENT
It is the day of engagement and Aarav had just arrived from his business trip; he was unaware about the engagement as Yash preponed it. Darsh informed Aarav about the engagement. They both were in Aarav’s room Aarav was unloading his suitcase and Darsh was laid on his bed, Aarav immediately answered that he is not coming with them he came up with an excuse that he was tired and wished to rest. Darsh understood that he was sad with this news so Darsh decided to give him some space and thought he will ask everything once he return from the engagement.
Two hours later Darsh, along with their parents left the mansion. Engagement was in the five-star hotel. The decoration was very lavish and extraordinarily marvellous. Kapoor’s family had arrived at the venue, they were welcomed by Viraj, Kaviya, David, and Ragini. Viraj was very desperate to see and meet with Aarav as he thought that Aarav would also be coming along with Jairaj, he wanted to ask Aarav about his real parents to confirm his suspicion about his biological father. They all shook hands whereas Jairaj congratulated Viraj and David. Just then Darsh entered into the venue with Kaviya beside him. She dragged Darsh gently in a corner and asked whether he spoke with Aarav or not. Darsh shook his head and said, “Aarav was extremely hurt on when I informed him about this engagement, and he made an excuse for not joining us.”
“It’s not right what is happening, it should not have happened. I feel bad for them.” Kaviya replied with a sad voice.
Maya and Yash were standing on the stage, Maya was sad and continuously staring and the entrance gate in a hope that Aarav would come. Her eyes were in search of Aarav to get a glimpse of him. Her eyes stopped searching when she saw Darsh, Jairaj and Bhavika. She understood that Aarav didn’t came. She mentally scolded herself for thinking that he would come and save her from this forced marriage, reality hit her that why would he come to her engagement. She is so naïve thinking like that, he stills loves her, her brain reminded her his absence that he doesn’t love her, but her heart and eyes still craved to see him. Disappointment appeared on her face. Yash who was noticing Maya’s emotion but he preferred to stay silent as he didn’t want to spoil his much-awaited day because of Aarav. As soon as all the guests arrived, it was the time to exchange rings where Yash happily slide the ring in Maya's finger.
Maya was breathing heavily her hands were shaking she hesitantly took the ring from her mother, and tried to hold back her tears as she knows once she put the ring then there is no way turning back. She saw towards her father who is extremely happy and without having any second thought she inserted the ring in Yash’s finger everyone clapped and cheered for them. And then they both came outside the hotel to face media and to pose. Maya was just giving an emotionless expression where Yash’s happiness had no boundaries he was smiling in excitement.
Something caught Maya's attention in the opposite side of the hotel. There was a black Mercedes car and the person sitting inside the car on a driver seat is none other than Aarav, both kept starring at each other with tears filled eyes with lots of emotions, love, hurt, pain, held in their eyes. Aarav thought once he would come back from his business trip he would meet with Maya and clear all their misunderstandings between them, and then the decision will up to her. But when he arrived, he came to know that he is already late and fate is not on his favour and he missed his last chance. After some minutes of staring, he drove the car in speed.
The Kapoor family are back from engagement ceremony. It is past 12 am. Jairaj and Bhavika went to the room. Darsh decided to go to Aarav’s room to get answer of his unanswered question, without knocking he opened and close the door behind him where he saw Aarav sitting on the edge of the bed holding a photo in his hand and his back is facing him. Darsh walked with the little steps approached his brother and sat beside him. Darsh looked at the photo and then his eyes travelled from photo to his brother’s face where he saw Aarav holding his tears while having his eyes glued on the photo. It was a photo of their first date. Darsh puts his right hand on Aarav’s left shoulder
“Bro, I know that you came for her engagement. I saw how you didn’t blink your eyes from her.”
Aarav said on facing towards Darsh, “So, you know about her.?”
Darsh nodded and replied, “Its very heart breaking for me to see you suffer every day in pain for your love. That’s why I decided to stay in London and find the reason behind your sadness where earlier you used to be an extrovert person living happy without any worries. With your one cheerful smile everyone became happy. Now you are living a life like a living corpse. But unfortunately, I failed to know the reason, I request you to tell me what happened 5 years ago, why Maya considers you as a cheater, despite you loving her so much. I want to help you brother.” Sadness was visible in Darsh’s voice when he spoke to him.
Aarav stared at Darsh and then back on the photo and started speaking their past journey….
