Chapter 62: Uncle's Appearance

**The Demon’s Love**

*Chapter 62: Uncle's Appearance*

Amari’s

As we had finally reconciled, Zaren and I finally had a good talk about what we have to do. Since Rymond can remain in his adult appearance, we asked him to defend the back part of the mountain while Zaren would help me in fighting with Darkness. It was a good thing since Rymond preferred to work alone because he didn’t want others to see him in his real appearance.

He was quite mistrustful that the knights might do something unfavorable once they found out he was the banned sorcerer. Without any hesitation, Rymond liked the idea, enthusiastic and was in a haste to exact that stunt. He even willingly advised other knights how to wield their words better and stronger without using much of their power.

At first, I didn’t believe when Zaren told me that Rymond was happily training the knights despite his childlike demeanor. Some didn’t even take him seriously as he was seriously adorable and cute with his small voice. Rymond, although felt annoyed for the first time because of his appearance still managed to pull off of obeying his words.

In the end, the knights were better.

I tightened the bracelet Zaren gave me. He said it was a protection barrier if Darkness tried to possess this body of mine as it did last time. I had explained to him that I was the one who made deal with Darkness but he insisted that Darkness would definitely talk to him at her lowest and vulnerable state which therefore resulted to an unfair deal. Therefore, the Darkness had to die because of the unprecedented actions of killing innocent people for its own gains.

To be honest, able to see my previous face and body in the hands of others was intimidating and shuddering. It was annoying the possible things it could do to my body. Of course, there is a high chance that I wouldn’t be harmed as I have this yet I don’t know. After all, if my body was hurt, my soul might respond as it was its previous shell.

“Duke, Duchess! Bad news, t-the… ugh!”

“Fight them!”

Suddenly, while Zaren and I were changing, we looked towards the entrance of the tent. In a whish, Rymond transported inside and sighed. He shook his head.

“Bad thing, your Uncle is here, Amari.”

I widened my eyes, “M-my uncle? Why would he…”

“Niece! Amari, I was waiting for your visit but you never did. How come you didn’t even invite me to this exciting journey?”

My uncle’s voice was loud and clear which perplexed me. No one knew that we set off to kill Darkness, besides the journey is rough and long. Accordingly, why did it look like they were unharmed especially in the Wriggling trees. I hurt myself defending my mind but his voice seemed to sound he never encountered on the road. How?

I gulped my saliva, turning to Zaren who spoke before I could do so.

“Let me talk to him first.”

I frowned, “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

He firmly stared at me, “That is exactly why I don’t want you facing this matter. Let me handle this first quickly. I wouldn’t be that long.”

Rymond folded his arms, “I agree with Zaren. He can make an excuse, it’s not like you’re required to see him even in this state.”

I held my hands, “It’s suspicious. How did he know?”

Rymond nodded his head, “Right, how did he know?”, he then shifted his eyes at Zaren, “There were other officials when His Majesty gave you this mission. Who do you think might take that as an advantage?”

Zaren furrowed his brows, “I’ll answer that question later. For now, let us focus on Amari’s Uncle. I’ll talk to him.”

The clatters between swords suddenly stopped when he headed out of the tent while I felt seriously worried. Zaren is powerful but who knows what kind of evil thoughts my Uncle have? He wanted me to kill Zaren for his power and since I didn’t obey his wishes, I knew he was weighing hatred for me. It wouldn’t be natural if he hadn’t come to actually confront me.

“Amari, why didn’t you tell me beforehand?”

As it was, Zaren invited him inside the tent after the knights had cooked meal for us. It was a light, simple meal unlike what we usually eat when we were in the residence. But it was enough to fill our starvation and feel full.

However for Uncle, who seemed disliking the food we served for him, it was annoying. I clenched my fists,

“It is a hard work, I didn’t want to bother you.”

He widely grinned, “No way this matter isn’t simple. As you have said, this is a work that needed help from other people. I have raised and fed you so I knew that you might be in a tight corner right now.”

His voice contained concern which felt odd. If it was back then, I would have believed it but ever since Count Berkoln death, I don’t think I could trust his sugarcoated words yet again. But I wouldn’t force it.

I smiled at him, “This is fine. You’re old and I don’t want to be the cause of your health problems.”

He shook his head, “You might be forgetting the fact that I am your Uncle and I am also one of the people whose in the business of Pills used to make your powers effortlessly within a short span of time.”

I flinched. Rymond had said that there’s a suspicious action about in those Pills. But I didn’t think he’d actually say that without batting an eye. Does he not get scared of his own words?

“We’re fine.”

“If you were, why were the knights injured?”

“… Oh, did Bal your messenger?”

Out of a sudden, using Rymond’s power, Bal was transported in the tent with ties around his body. I quirked up from looking at Bal. I was previously anxious of his wellbeing since he was a good comrade back then but I guess even my consideration didn’t soften up his heart and change his mind. It felt horrible.

I told my Uncle, “Your little messenger here was a little bit hard to deal with. How about I kill him for you?”

My Uncle was confused, “What do you mean? Bal isn’t my people.” He glanced at Bal, covering up his plan but I only scoffed.

“I see, if that’s what you want to play then just don’t mind our business. Uncle, His Majesty gave Zaren this special mission so we can’t accommodate others who could be possible hurt.”

My uncle glared at me, his fists were noticeably clenched and he looked like he was about to explode. A forced smile came over his face.

“I assure you that no one wouldn’t get hurt.”

“… If you insist.”
