Chapter 125 125

Chapter 125 125
DERRICK

Morgan approached Scott carefully before inspecting him silently for several moments.
Then her expression darkened.
“This is forced mind control,” she murmured grimly.
Lyka crossed her arms tightly beside me, her distrust toward Morgan practically radiating off her body.
Morgan began preparing several ritual items afterward, moving around the room while muttering under her breath.
But something about her behavior felt… strange.
Off.
Even Lyka noticed it.
“I think we should just wait for Delinda instead,” Lyka whispered quietly beside me. “Morgan doesn’t look like she knows what she’s doing.”
Honestly? I agreed.
Morgan kept moving farther away from Scott instead of examining him properly. Worse, she barely focused on him at all.
That alone made my suspicion rise. Then suddenly, Morgan walked toward us.
“We need to speak outside,” she said quietly.
We followed her out into the hallway.
Morgan crossed her arms immediately.
“I don’t know what the two of you are doing,” she muttered irritably, “but if you continue distracting me, this ritual won’t work.”
Lyka’s nose flared instantly.
“We’ve barely said anything,” she snapped back. “So why exactly isn’t your ritual working?”
Morgan hissed softly in annoyance.
“Because I’m low on energy,” she answered sharply. “I need some of the Alpha’s strength to complete it.”
Confusion crossed my face immediately.
“My energy?” I repeated slowly.
Beside me, Lyka narrowed her eyes dangerously.
“You only need a little?” she asked suspiciously.
The distrust in her expression was impossible to miss.
Morgan looked offended instantly.
“You don’t believe me?”
Lyka scoffed openly.
“Should I?” she asked mockingly. “You’re asking ridiculous questions for someone this suspicious.”
I sighed tiredly while watching the two women glare at each other.
Honestly, they looked seconds away from fighting.
“Lyka,” I warned quietly. “Let it go.”
But Morgan immediately folded her arms stubbornly.
“No,” she replied sharply. “If she doesn’t trust me, that’s her problem. I’m still the one performing the ritual.”
Something about her tone immediately irritated me.
“Watch your mouth, Morgan,” I warned coldly. “You will not disrespect my mate in front of me.”
Morgan’s face flushed instantly with anger.
“She insulted me first!”
“And?” I replied bluntly. “She’s the only one allowed to insult people here. Not you.”
Beside me, Lyka burst into laughter immediately.
“You heard him,” she teased smugly.
Morgan glared at both of us before storming angrily back into the room.
I rubbed my forehead tiredly.
Women truly exhausted me sometimes.
Before following Morgan inside, I turned toward Lyka carefully.
“Stay out here,” I instructed firmly. “No matter what happens inside, don’t come in.”
She clearly disliked that order immediately.
Still, she nodded reluctantly.
“Fine,” she muttered. “But don’t lower your guard around her.”
A faint smile tugged at my lips despite everything.
Honestly, her concern felt strangely comforting.
“Nothing will happen,” I assured her before entering the room.
The atmosphere inside had changed slightly.
Scott was now unconscious, slumped quietly against the chair.
“I used sleeping incense,” Morgan explained casually. “He wouldn’t stop screaming.”
I nodded distractedly while watching her movements carefully.
“Don’t try anything suspicious,” I warned coldly. “And don’t hurt him.”
Morgan rolled her eyes dramatically.
“Relax,” she replied. “I’m trying to help.”
She guided me toward the bed afterward before beginning several chants beneath her breath.
The words sounded unfamiliar. Ancient. Disturbing.
A strange discomfort settled inside my chest while listening to her.
But what bothered me most wasn’t the chanting.
It was the fact that Morgan hadn’t looked at Scott once since I entered the room. Not once.
Gradually, my suspicion deepened. Then I saw it.
A black gourd resting inside her hand.
And the moment I noticed the sardonic smile curling across her lips while she approached me slowly...
Everything clicked together instantly. I had been tricked.
“What are you doing?” I demanded sharply while grabbing her wrist roughly.
Morgan frowned immediately.
“You need to stay still for the ritual,” she snapped.
I shoved her hand away before rising slowly from the bed.
A cold smirk tugged across my lips.
“Did you honestly think I trusted you that much?” I asked quietly.
Confusion flickered briefly across her face.
Then realization followed immediately afterward.
My gaze dropped toward the black gourd lying on the floor.
“I’m guessing your real plan was to awaken him,” I muttered darkly.
Morgan’s eyes widened instantly.
“That’s not true, I... ”
Before she could finish speaking, I grabbed her throat violently and slammed her against the wall.
Her body trembled beneath my grip instantly.
“How dare you try to deceive me?” I growled furiously.
The room exploded into chaos immediately afterward.
Energy burst violently around us. Furniture shattered. Glass cracked.
The lights suddenly went out entirely, plunging the entire room into darkness. But neither of us panicked. Both Morgan and I were creatures who understood darkness far too well.
She stared at me with disbelief written across her face.
“You’re him now?” she whispered shakily.
A slow smirk spread across my lips.
Honestly…
This feeling wasn’t entirely unpleasant. Looks like I had managed to fool her too.
